Best calculator to get before a graphing calculator.
I had this exact model Calculator back in middle school and loved the thing. CASIO goes above and beyond with the functionailty and usability of this calculator. You can just plug in a math problem as you see it in a textbook, and the calculator will spit out the answer. Sadly I lost that darn calculator. So when i was looking for a new calculator in my adult years, i decided to see if i could find my old calculator. Surprisingly i did after some research on the CASIO website and then finding out how much this little thing cost i could not pass it up. There are Texas Instruments Calculators with the same functions that run $80 which just makes it so much easier to justify this CASIO. The only disadvantage is that it does have a slightly different interface and usability than TI calculators so if those are what you are used to it will be strange making the change, but it is easy to figure out CASIO after playing with it and discovering each new feature it is capable of handling.Hands down my favorite calculator and so happy i could get another at such a fantastic price.

Best calculator ever
I know Casio calculators are not very popular in the US, but absolutely recommend giving this a try. The buttons are much more ergonomic and easy to work with than TI counterparts. The thickness is much more appropriate - much thinner than most TIs I've seen. Typing numbers is easier, and deleting is easier as well. Casio calculators are just much more well-thought. A very solid calculator all-around - I strongly recommend it!

One of best in low cost non programmable category
It's just great for low level calculator. It's best because in my department, higher prized like $80 or more calculator is not allowed as most of them are programmable. And at least, I find that out of all allowed ones, this is most easy, cost effective and great for many kinds of calculations.

Buy additional batteries.
Good , but the batteries died out earlier so I replaced it and it works good.

this has a better key layout for those classes
I use an HP50g for engineering classes. I use this Casios for my math classes, since the HP 50 isn't allowed. To tell the truth, this has a better key layout for those classes, anyway. The buttons I need most are right there on the front. It has a really easy to use Degrees/Minutes/Seconds feature. It can show the sin of 60 degrees as the square root of three over two, or as a decimal, with one button to toggle between display formats, which is really nice.Log, Ln and a log function with variable base are right on the front, with no shift functions. 1/x is there, notated as x to the -1. It's just a REAALLY #$!@#@ good calculator for the price. It doesn't have rpn or a stack, unfortunately, so I mess up and enter things in the wrong order sometimes, but most people aren't looking for those anyway.Hopefully Casio will make a hardcore RPN engineering calculator some day. I'd be interested to see what they could do!

Awesome
I got this and the TI -36X PRO at the same time and they both helped with my math classes. They can do pretty much the same functions. I use this one more though because the TI feels a lot bulkier. By default out of the box the Casio displays every answer as a fraction instead of decimal (that was annoying) but you can change the default setting. I love this calculator and use it for all my classes that require a calculator.

My favorite scientific calculator by far
I was able to use this throughout high school and now throughout college, this scientific calculator is very easy to use, very nicely formatted, and has a ton more functionality than normal scientific calculators. For example, it can solve equations, solve quadratic equations, linear regressions, vector operations, basic calculus, etc.

Great CalculatorIts a very good calculatorPros (when compared to its predecessor(MS991 )and successor( EX991))1.Easy to type the function to be integrated and differentiated2.Easy to understand menu3.Excellent Navigation button4.Easy to type the equation to solve5.Better buttons(when compared to EX991)6.Bright Colour(when compared to the dull one of Ms991 and hazy colour of Ex9917.Very light(just like a feather)Cons (when compared to its predecessor(MS991 )and successor( EX991))1)Its equation solving is a bit slow[around 3-4 sec](when compared with ms991 and ex991)2)It does not have the feature of prime factorization(FACT)which is in Ex-9913)Poor quality buttons when compared to Ms991these are the few points that i felt were to be added apart from the existing reviewswill try to add more(used it for just a month now)finally if u need it just for simple calculations(like for children in class 9-10 and below) ms991 is the bestfor intermediate level i would suggest esand for engineering level ex is the ultimate(even though es is also very good)
