Better than the TI
I am a math teacher at a new private Bronx high school, and compared the TI-83 with the Casio in numerous regards before deciding which one our school would use. Hands down, the Casio wins, and it is cheaper as well. Note - I do not work for Casio or TI.A) The calculator is more user friendly. The options are menu driven in a more intuitive way. What took me a minute or two to locate and figure out out the TI, took less than half the time on the Casio. Don't trust me- see for yourself.B) The Casio is slightly faster than the TIC)Features: The casio adds a dynamic graphing system (lets you change a coefficient and watch the graph change), which is very useful when teaching. I also like the EQUA feature, which lets my students calculate 2/3 equations, 2/3 unknowns, and solve quadratic or polynomial equations. Maybe the TI does this too, but I couln't figure it out.D) The color thing I suppose is nice, but I use the CFX-9750, which is black and white and cheaper. The only downside is that most colleges use the TI's, unfortunately. I liken it to most places using Microsoft when there are better alternatives out there (monopoly power). Anyway, a student who uses the Casio can do anything the TI-83 can do.I'm a big fan, and my students seem to like it.

Bought for Six Sigma Statistics use and graphing.
When I first received the product, the design of the calculator made me think that it was a toy! As far as functionality goes it works great for linear regression, distribution and general equations. The graphing is very clear and easy use. What I thought is really nice was the calculations of matrices based on predetermined weights. Anyway, Casio made a pretty decent tool here...

Tried two different calculaters; this is a winner!
My daughter borrowed the same product from a friend; she said it was so easy to use compared to others used at school and even one that was much more expensive which she had tried out. We also like that it brought a case where I had to purchase a case for the other one she had.

Best Graphing Calculator for $60
I was recently in the market for a graphing calculator. I did quite a bit of research and was not at all pleased with the cost of most models. Then I found Casio FX-9750, and I did not hesitate one bit with the purchase. I like that this model does just about everything the TI-80x family does. It did not come with the computer interface cable, but that was not an option I was considering anyway. I wanted something portable that could do the typical math functions one would find in high level math courses, and more advanced features not common in a scientific calculator. For example, matrix calculations are handy for 2 and 3 variable equations, which are common in most math problems. Anything higher should be done on a computer anyway. The seller was prompt in fulfilling the order, and I will look them up again if I need to purchase a similar calculator.

May not be what you need
I purchased this Casio because it was a lot cheaper then a TI83/84. In it's advertising it says it does the same functions but I am finding that it does not. When it does do one of the functions it is off by it's rounding or it doesn't come up with the same type of answer (different form like decimal) which I have to then translate to the correct form. For me it was not worth the price break.

Great sometimes, others...
The Casio fx-9750G PLUS is a great calculator for some things, terrible for others. Doing polynomial equations is simple, expecially when compared to a Texas Instruments' version. On the other hand, I have yet to figure out how to do a standard deviation. Keep in mind that if you're in high school, your course is almost definitely using a Texas - I can't tell you how many nights I've spent poring over the manual figuring out how to do the simplest of operations, while those with Texas Instruments know how to do it in a matter of minutes. If you're using it outside a formal math course in a situation that doesn't require too many complicated operations, it's a great calculator - I highly recommend. But if you're Pre-Calc or up, do yourself a favor and go grab a Texas.

Casio calculators ROCK!
I have been using these rugged, easy to use, menu driven calculators teaching a variety of levels of math for years! My own children used them all the way through college. I LOVE Casio. They are cheaper than others, more intuiative, no obscure code/key sequences to memorize and do EVERYTHING any level of math student needs. These folks who say otherwise have never used a Casio and probably think everyone must use a Windows based computer too. :-)
