Q: How noisy is this fan? Need it for a 1400 sq ft space, and prefer a gentler sound.

I have the 20-inch (9420) and it's probably 2 - 3 times the sound of a box fan on high. The motor is extremely quiet. The "noise" you hear is mostly the sound of the air going through the blades. There's no getting around it if you want high wind velocity. "Noisy" is of course very subjective. Some don't like it and say it sounds like a plane, but mine has well-balanced blades and for me it's simply a louder version of "white noise", so you might not want to watch TV without headphones. Because of the many "noisy & hurricane-like" reviews I thought it was going to be overkill but it's not as strong as I expected though it still kicks butt. So far it saved me from buying a 2nd swamp cooler. I put it about 5 ft. in front of the cooler and it really pushes the cool air all throughout my 39 ft. RV.

Q: I need several quiet high volume fans for use in a church sanctuary. Is this fan suited?

This fan moves a very high volume of air and is relatively noisy. Best suited for very large areas where the noise can be tolerated

Q: Would this be Overkill in a two car garage?

I have one in my garage (2 car garage) and I think it is perfect.

Q: Does anyone know how to replace the pull chain to start the fan? Ours broke and it’s stuck on medium speed now. Thanks.

Sorry I can't help you mind don't have a pull chain mine has a Knob you turn
