Amazing vacuum cleaner!
I am thrilled with my new Oreck Touch Upright Bagless BU10000. I have always thought Orecks were for a different type of person than I. One who is more practical in nature and warranty minded, etc. Although these things are important to me, I must admit I have been known to purchase items because they looked cool. I have received the best of both worlds with this machine. It is really quite sexy for a vacuum cleaner. Kind of robot looking. The suction is better than any vacuum I've had. The price range is at the top of what I wanted to spend and I feel like I got a fantastic deal with this. You cannot go wrong here. The canister is easy to dump. The floor height automatic adjuster is a dream. No more bending over and moving a lever for this girl! The attachments are sufficient and work well. Additional attachments can be purchased. I, like other reviewers, would have preferred a way to have the attachments "attached" to the vacuum cleaner itself but then it wouldn't be as "sexy".I am also thrilled about the 5 year warranty and the one-time complete maintenance visit that is included in the purchase price. I have recommended this vacuum to all of my friends. My mother will be purchasing one soon.Thank you Oreck and thank you Amazon for the great price!

Discontinued for a reason
I'm really hating that I get motivated to write reviews only when I've grown dissatisfied with a product, but...My experience with this machine has been a love/hate one. When it works, it's WONDERFUL! Very powerful, easy to 'drive', useful wand, effective roller brush, etc. When *I* use it, it works well -- though the dust-canister requires emptying much more often than is convenient (with the opening floor of the canister being awkward to keep open during opening, and the bottom lip on the inner core trapping the accumulated hair, necessitating getting your fingers very dirty while pulling it all out by hand), the roller brush requires frequent "scissors treatment" in our three dog, four woman/girl household, and the filter is far more susceptible to clogging, and far more problematic to clean (it takes addressing it with significant water spray/pressure, and then needs to be allowed to dry--in my experience--for a couple of days before being reused, so it doesn't turn into essentially a block of cement!) than it should be.When any of my family uses it, the hose becomes clogged seemingly every 10 minutes of use (I guess I'm a little more careful about what I expect it to pick up)... So most days, I come home to a house that's badly in need of vacuuming, with the Oreck parked in a corner, and one of my family informing me "it quit working again".... I wonder if it might be this one problem that is the reason they discontinued its production after a surprisingly short period of time.I've REALLY wanted to like this! And perhaps if it were only me using it, I still might. But my family hates it, and while I might be "more careful", they are not being careless with it. It is what I believe is "ordinary use" that renders it inoperable. (Yes, our 'household of hair' is a complication -- but cutting the hair off the roller brush isn't our big problem with this...)Over the holidays, it became very noisy, began to lose significant suction, and started to smell of ozone. This is where my larger dissatisfaction emerged. The service center (local store) seemed ill-prepared to deal with my repair. In addition to taking a number of weeks to complete the repair (over the holidays, no less), they returned it to me missing the brush attachment (stored onboard), taking a couple of MONTHS to finally replace that. Now, a little over two months into use of the repaired unit, the motor is smelling of ozone again (meaning, the motor is failing -- again!), and the loss of suction is back. While this problem might be the repair shop's fault, and not Oreck's, per se, it has certainly been an integral part of my "Oreck Experience". Facing another round of slow, low-quality 'repair service' and their disappointing lack of communication, I've decided it's not worth it, and have just purchased another brand's product -- hoping to keep my family happier (and my home cleaner!).While I'd have LOVED to like this vacuum, my experience has been 20% delight, and 80% frustration and disappointment. Perhaps it's a good thing that you can no longer purchase it. As I wouldn't recommend it....Update: 2/18/16--Just received a call from the repair shop, who told me that Oreck is refusing to accomplish this second repair under warranty. They are saying it is because the filters were not cleaned frequently enough, and therefore the motor has failed (again, in a short period of time) because it was working too hard to overcome the clogged filters. Irony: During this past repair, I bought a second filter so that we could feel more free to clean it without having to wait literally two or three days for the filter to dry after cleaning before we could press the vacuum into service again. The need to empty the dust bin and clean the filters far too often have been among my family's chief complaints about this -- along with its propensity to clog, of course... I have felt that we have put much more effort into maintaining this vacuum than should ever be considered 'normal'. And they're refusing to repair it because it requires even more effort than what we've always felt was too much?? This seems to me to be a profound design flaw -- and if such aggressive effort is required to keep it working, perhaps they should have explained that in detail. Preferably in their sales description!I have long respected the public image perspective I've held of the Oreck brand. I bought this unit based on that trust. I feel betrayed right now, and will almost certainly never again buy another product from Oreck. Based on this disappointing experience, I wouldn't recommend any of my friends did, either...I'm glad to have replaced this unit. So far I am much happier with its replacement -- and noting its fundamental design differences and easier management of the problems I've been frustrated with in this Oreck, I'm expecting that satisfaction will likely continue. (FWIW, the Oreck has been replaced by a Shark NV501.)

This Vacuum totally sucks, in the best way!
All I can say is, I must be the most boring person around, because I’m a sucker for a great vacuum. I’m in a New York City apartment, so I mostly use my Vac for hardwood floors and a few area rugs. I do, however, have a cat and the New York City air is quite literally palpable so dust and dirt build up daily with a difficulty level of short haired cat. My old Vac was a Dyson Ball model from about 4 or 5 years ago and while I loved the weight and handling of that model, the overall performance just didn’t rate another one at that price tag.Looking for update/replacement, I stumbled across a great review article on CNET that put a number of name brands and models through their paces. The Oreck scored very high marks for its price point and weight class and it also had a much more competitive price than Dyson, especially on Amazon with free prime shipping.I’ve now had the Oreck for about a month and I absolutely love it! Seriously, Oreck groupie at the moment. I hate to say that they stole all the good points of the Dyson and improved upon them, but they did. The swivel head makes getting around corners and under furniture easy and elegant, but the general design is very sturdy and solid. It is a heavier Vac than my old one, but that comes with a superior suction, really it feels like a much heavier more powerful model. It’s bag less and the canister is functional (push button release) and solid with a removable bit around the intake that makes unclogging it much easier *see pet hair*. I also realized the other day that the channel from the hose to canister is rectangular as opposed to round which helps keep flotsam from clogging the works; wine cork *see, the best cat toys are free.* All in all, a great vacuum with really good suction, solid design and ascetically very pleasing.

this is far superior. Check out reviews online
Pro vacuum, plain and simple. Forget a Roller Ball, this is far superior. Check out reviews online...they don't boast like Dyson but they perform much better.
