I want to knit everything in it!
Okay, maybe not the knit soakers LOL, but this book is great! I will definitely be making lots of these items for my daughter and also for gifts. Some of the patterns are a bit more challenging and others are quite simple. I'm an intermediate knitter, so that's nice for me, I like to have some of both in a pattern book. I couldn't wait to get this book when I saw previews of it and I am not disappointed. I can't wait to get started on my first project - the little shrug.

A great book for unique baby knits
I love this book! I only wish I knew more people with small children to make the items for. I purchased it for one pattern in particular, the Jasper hooded cardigan, but ended up falling in love with nearly every pattern. One of the great details I like is all the extra information about the state of knitting in each decade from the 20's on.It's also quite apparent that Rengren put a lot of effort into this book. As knitting has evolved so much, she needed to spend a lot of time reworking the patterns to work with today's techniques, yarns, etc. This is a great book to add to your collection. I'm sure that any recipient would treasure every stitch of your knitted gifts from this book!

Vintage Knitting
Interesting baby patterns that have been updated along with a history of knitting and suggestions for modern yarns and needles.

THE BEST!!!
I love this book. The designs are fresh yet classic. As a knitter with over 40 years of knitting experience, I found this book to be quite possibly my all-time favorite for babies. The patterns hold my interest - they have enough complexity that I don't get bored. They're challenging, but not to the point of causing me to break out in a knitting fever. It's a book I'll use again and again, which is more than I can say for most knitting books.

Lovely knits- vintage, but interpreted for today's knitters
I loved these knits! If you are knitting for a baby, I definitely recommend this book- you'll have some very classic, stylish options for the babe!I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars, because I really would have appreciated more sizes. I have hve a neice who's about 6 months now, and while I've knitted for her for 6-12 months... I'd like to knit for her as a toddler, and most of these patterns stop at 12 months. But there's a pretty dress that really tempts me!This book also has a lot of context for the knitting patterns- like, a historical view of the whole knitting scene in the covered decades (1920's - 1950s).One thing- these generally use finer yarns and closer knits than many modern patterns. While there a couple that use worsted, most use fingering/sock yarn, in a finer gauge than people might expect. Still, babies are small- and these are all very elegant patterns! And personally, I think the finer gauge works better with such small humans...Very recommended, if you have a baby to knit for- but it's probably a good idea to start the project before the kid is born! and make it for 12 months!

A wonderful addition to my vintage needlework library
I received this book today and I love it! I love the old patterns, and have books from my grandmother dating back to the 1920's. Some reviewers mentioned that directions in old patterns may be somewhat unclear. I found that with a little work and a little imagination that problem can be overcome. I assume these reviewers probably have not worked with really old patterns. Try them! I'm sure you will find them challenging. I love the history she provides and the materials suggestions she offers. I had to learn from trial and error which materials work best. I, too, knitted soakers for my children--when soakers were unheard of!! I wish I had know about the lanolin treatment she recommends. I believe anyone who enjoys vintage baby clothes and working with vintage patterns would like this book in their library.

Fantastic patterns!
I love this book. I'd consider myself an intermediate knitter. I find the instructions easy to follow and the selection of patterns charming. Nicely laid out book. I've completed the Stella Pixie hat, which was very fun to knit. I'm working through the Bobby Kimono now. I have about three more items from this book I plan on making. I can see the Stella Pixie hat becoming a staple baby gift! Love it!

don't judge a book by it's cover!
The book ooked appealing but I was unable to view the contents. Had I seen the contents, I would not have ordered the book. The sweaters were unappealing and sloppy looking.Nothing I can imagine knitting and I usually love vintage patterns.I have already donated the book to a charity drive!

Lovely little book
What a fantastic little treasure. I was quite excited when I took this out from the library and once I had at home for two or three days I decided to purchase it. This book contains updated versions of many classics. I think what they have done is just revise the language to make it easy to understand for m”modern” knitters. Having said that the lovely quaint items that are made from the patterns are quite delightful. I have made a baby set so far, and a cardigan, baby bonnet and I am currently working on one of the baby blankets from the book. If you like knitting baby clothes this is a fantastic book.

vintage baby knitting pattern book
I absolutely love the patterns in this book. I didn't know it existed until my daughter asked me to knit a cardigan, which is included among its pages. The patterns are charming, and from the 40's and 50's. They are shouting out at me to get started. My grandchild is due in March next year, so I will have to get knitting.
