Works great but difficult to assemble
This octabox provided the type of light I wanted and attached nicely to my Alien Bee. It would have received a 5 star rating if it wasn't so difficult to put together! Some of the other reviewers give many suggestions for putting it together and that really helped. The first time it took me about 25 minutes to get everything in place. I could have purchased a slightly more expensive model that had an easy open feature, but I didn't want to have an opening device or umbrella type structure right in front of the light source.Assembly since the first use has gotten faster, so there is a learning curve. This ultimately works best in a studio or home where you do not need to disassemble frequently. If you are planning on using on location, just be sure to build in a few minutes to your workflow for set up.The size is quite nice. It is not so large and heavy that it pulls off the light (that is an issues that I have been having with the large softbox I purchased with the alien bee). The octabox shape makes much nicer round cachelights compared to a square softbox. The fabrics and materials have a similar feel to those used to make Alien Bee/Paul C. Buff boxes. It provides for nice light diffusion. Of course, there are even nicer materials that can be used, but you do ultimately pay for that. This box does not cost hundreds of dollars and therefore should not be compared to those that do. Overall, given the reasonable cost, this octabox is quite nice.

Don't waste your money!!! broke on the 3rd time i used it.
I purchased this item a few moths back for my Alien bees 1600s, on the 3rd photoshoot i used it the rods had bent so much that the metal tip was breaking in half. now it does not hold the same shape and therefor it is no longer usable. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS.!!!

Great beginner softbox!
I'm really new to softboxes so I bought this one as a cheap option to start with. I love it, it's the perfect size for what I've been doing and I love the way it filters the light. The only negative was that the poles turned my hands black while assembling it.

Great value.
If you don't have to travel/disassemble, this softbox is an incredable value. If you think you will be assembling and disassembling, find another product.I have a few in different sizes in the studio and they give off the SAME light as more expensive lights if you are comparing EXACT sizes at the SAME distances.

Super easy to assemble, love the softbox.
I read the reviews for this softbox and the majority claimed that it was hard to assemble. I've crossed this bridge before and decided to order it any way. While I would agree that the printed directions aren't that great. YouTube is always my go to. Easy, easy! Highly recommend this softbox and a YouTube for the assembly.

Wonderful item.
This item is awesome. I love the light quality, there's no yellow tint like with some unclean white screens. It's heavy, so be sure you have your light stand is supported or weighed down. It is somewhat difficult to put together but that should be expected with an octobox. Just, be careful as the inner ring can cut you. The only reason I don't list this as 5 stars is because the outer cover was very large. There is some light leak, so I had to modify it a little bit.

It's becoming a pain
First off, this thing was kind of hard to put together. Are they all like that? Second, the speedring just came off on me on location and I haven't yet had time to figure out what happened, but it was very unexpected. Good thing I hadn't put it on my light yet. Also, you have to remove the velcro diffuser to make sure it's on right. I made the mistake of eyeballing it and lost a modeling lamp.
