I did not need to change the transformer, just switched the halogens out for these and they worked straight away with no flicker. The only issue was they are a slightly longer than the halogen version and I didnt bother to measure them beforehand. The result is that the cover on the fitting will not fully close until flush but it is still usable. I would check the sizes before assuming these have the same dimensions. Update 10 months on - the bulbs no longer work properly. Started to flicker a few months ago and now only come on very dull. Seems to be electrical or overheating problem. May have to switch back to the halogens .

From the product listing's third photo, I assumed these bulbs would be only slightly larger than their respective halogen counterparts. In my review's photo, I compare the size of the bulbs being sold to the equivalent 10W halogen bulbs. The bulbs are much taller and significantly wider than the halogen bulbs.For me, this was not an issue as the light fitting had plenty of space, but I'm certain this spacing would be an issue for some light fittings. So be aware of the size difference before ordering.The lights themselves, which I ordered in the 'warm white' colour produce nice light, they don't appear to flicker or hum (as some LED bulbs do) and visually the light is very similar to that from a halogen/filament bulb, they will appeal to those who are cautious about replacing traditional bulbs with modern LEDs. Just don't make the mistake of ordering 'cool white' if you are looking for an equivalent replacement for traditional bulbs because they will feel cold and blue/grey.The bulbs are slightly brighter than my 10W halogen bulbs.Overall I'm very happy with my purchase, just take into account the size the bulb and whether it fits in your light fitting and I'm sure you will be too.

they are probably OK for some applications...but for subtle house lights, to replace the original small bulbs...they are way to fat to fit in the sockets...so I cut the plastic molding back...OMG how bright are they....like a dam interrogation movie...they went in the bin

As with most LED lights, the colour of the light cast is greyish white, not the warm tones you find in filament bulbs. This made the light slightly duller, in my view, although it does illuminate the cooking area adequately. A pack of five will probably last for quite a while, so it is definitely worthwhile.

So glad I eventually got around to replacing the halogen bulbs in my bedroom ceiling light. These are brighter than the 10w halogen I had in, yes they're bigger than the normal halogen bulb but still fit well in my ceiling light. Bought another pack as needed 8 bulbs. They feel well made and fit well.

Didn’t realise how “large” these bulbs were. Much bigger than original bulb and I broke the glass on my light when I replaced the bulb.

Very good product, bright and well made. Only issue is the pins are very slim, thinner than what you would get on the original style G4 bulbs. This meant that it can come out easily and if shook the bulb may flicker due to lose fitting. Managed to resolve though to my satisfaction with a bit of ingenuity. This may not be the same for all fittings.

The comparison pic to the halogen you are replacing would have been accurate if my halogen was the same size. Turns out better to measure the mm first cos this bulb is almost twice size of my halogen therefore did not fit in light fitting
