Think this is a keeper (NOT)
I live in an old farmhouse with mostly hard surface floor and have 2 cats. Replaced my 30 year old Electrolux canister with this and I'm happy so far. Seems to have really good suction. It's so much lighter and just wheels right along behind you, my old one was stubborn. The only thing I've noticed is that the pole part could be a bit longer as other reviewers noted, but since I'm in my late 60's I'm losing height so it should all even out in about another year! Also, I like the bagless which is new to me, but it's more satisfying somehow to see what you've cleaned up. Easy to change attachments and I like the variety. Think the carpet one works great, also good on throw rugs I've only had it for about a month, but so far no problems. UPDATE 12-16: I haven't been able to get the red light to go off for a couple of weeks. I've cleaned it out, cleaned the filter, no blockage in the hose or anywhere so I guess I'll just have to use it until it dies; instruction book is not helpful. ANOTHER UPDATE 3-17: I managed to get the right light off and have washed the filter inside about every month since, I'm getting a shark canister next and put this one in my yard sale. The short pole part really gets annoying and the suction is terrible. If I ever get another Electrolux, I will get a reconditioned bagged canister like I had for 30 years. They don't make them like they used to!

Disappointing
The greatest defect with this product is the cord. It seems ridiculously short to me. And it does not unreel as the unit is pulled. Instead the user has to pull the entire length of the cord out of the machine which of course places more obstacles on the floor. Lastly, the recoil button for the cord is directly above the portal to which the cord returns and it returns fast. You will end up with bruised fingers if you aren't careful as the cord snaps back in. The unit is light weight, perhaps too much so as it catches on the smallest obstacle and will not maneuver as a heavier unit would. With all that said, the suction is decent and the various attachments seem effective (with the exception of the pet hair removal brush, but to be fair to Electrolux...no one has managed a decent vacuum for pet hair). The canister is easy to release, empty and return to the unit. If Electrolux had charged me $80.00 plus shipping for this unit, I would have said I had received my money's worth. But at $169.94 plus shipping, I could not in good conscience recommend this unit to anyone.

Big mistake
Ugh! I love the old Electrolux vacuums mom used to have! I bought this thinking how great to have a lightweight vacuum with the great name for vacuuming my customers' homes! It's lightweight, so that's one star. The cord? So short! I have to use an extension cord when I vacuum.Suction? Barely any. The wood floors are ok but I have to go over them again because this vacuum doesn't pick up everything. The carpet tool is ridiculous and just scatters dirt and hair gets wound around the brush, and it's not easy to clean. The tools have small openings making suction even less efficient.I now use my customers' vacuums that do a better job. I'm saving up my money for a Miele vacuum that will do the job!

Better Than Expected
I always was an Electrolux fan, even my Mom had them when I was very young. This unit does clean up very well. It has a strong motor (quiet too) and plentiful accessories. But of course it's not built as well as their more expensive units, (reason for 4 stars, but actually unfair because it's so inexpensive!) We use it mainly for the kids bedrooms and closets, halls, etc. Some plastic pieces are thin and flimsy (when compared to Electrolux's higher end models), but the brush and floor sweep are made with full bristle horse hair, not cheap plastic. The turbo units work as expected, and the telescopic steel extension is very well constructed, impressive at this cost. I fully recommend this vacuum cleaner as a good second unit in larger homes, and/or as the primary unit in smaller homes, condo's, apartment living etc.

Tiny vacuum for tiny jobs
The T8 is small. Very small. It can be fine if you only need to clean up to 500 sq-ft. For anything more than that, get something more substantial. Our house is 3 floors, each about 500 sq-ft. The power cord is so short that we have to use 8 different sockets to vacuum the house. The shaft is a little too short so I have to crouch all the time when I'm vacuuming. I am 6' 2".The vacuum most certainly does lose suction when it gets a bit full. Do not believe what they claim. After every time you clean the house it's not enough that you empty the canister. You also have to clean 1-2 filters. They get clogged every time. We vacuum the house every two weeks and don't have animals or anything else that would make it especially dirty. The build quality is not fantastic. The shaft does not properly lock into position but keeps twisting when you exert slightest force to it during normal vacuuming. The nozzles don't even lock into position, you just slide them onto the round steel shaft. After 3 months of using this vacuum I am ready to buy something else to replace it.
