๐ Stay Alert, Stay Ahead!
Don't be caught unaware by unexpected visitors. The WRH-3000 Wireless Rubber Hose Alert is a very reliable and easy to install driveway alarm. The transmitter operates on a 9V battery and has 25' of 3/8'' diameter exterior hose that lies across the drive. When a vehicle drives over the hose, a signal is sent to the WR-3000 receiver up to 600' away. The transmitter is weatherproof and designed for exterior locations. Dakota Alert WRH-3000 / Includes one transmitter connected to 25' of rubber hose and one Receiver / Transmitter will send wireless signal to the receiver up to 3000' away (actual range will vary depending on local terrain) / Operating temp range: -30 degrees F to 120 degress F.

Dakota wireless rubber hose alert just works!
Let me start this review by saying I would have given it 5 stars, but my unit had to be sent back to Dakota Alert after 2 weeks because of a bad radio. The guys at Dakota Alert are great to work with, but I think they should have sent a new unit since mine was nearly brand new. Of course they fixed it at no cost. Anyway, back to the review. I tried the motion driveway alarms, but I kept getting false alerts from dogs, birds, and wind blowing bushes. This alarm never gives false alerts and it always works. I also like being able to choose a different sound for the alarm, since I already have a door bell and an alarm for the front door when someone enters. The installaton took only a few minutes. You have to mount the unit outside and attach the hose and mount the unit inside. I did not want the end of the rubber hose moving when a vehicle ran over it so after installation I dug a small trench and buried the last 10 inches. I installed a nine volt battery in the unit outside and stepped on the hose and the unit inside let me know that everything was working. I am extremely pleased with the Dakota Alert Driveway Alarm.

Works as advertised- Update
I used to have a motion detector for my 200' driveway. It had way too many false alarms caused by shrubs, leaves, animals and other things that were not people or vehicles. So I stopped using it. I bought this unit to hopefully alert me to visitors in vehicles knowing that it would not be effective for pedestrians. It has worked as advertised. I have it installed at the entrance to my driveway. The transmitter is about 200' from the receiver in my house. The signal has to go through some shrubs and 2 walls. It has worked every time a vehicle has driven over the hose. The one thing that would be nice that is not built into this unit is a counter on the receiver. Something that would show how many times the unit was activated. That way I could tell if anybody had entered my drive while I was away.Update---I stand by the above review but 6 months into owning the product the hose fails. It has many cuts in it from normal vehicle wear(4-8 cars per day). It still works if the vehicle runs over it near the box where the hose isn't yet shredded. The hose is on an asphalt driveway. I would like to buy a replacement hose but I can not find one.

Excellent!
I installed this kit versus the wireless due to animal/vehicle traffic and the number of trees/ bushes around the entry. I did not want "false alarms" or something that has to be reset every time motion is detected so I avoided the other versions out there. The hose/sender is approx 550 feet from the house and the receiver is plugged into and mounted in a high, non-line of sight area.Total distance from sender to receiver is approx 600 feet with many obstacles and walls in between.Installation was extremely simple for both units. Volume and indicator tones are adjustable and easy to alter, and even at half volume the tone can be heard throughout the entire house (multi-level 3600 sq ft farm house). When mounting the sender, I ensured that the hose was straight, fairly flexible, free of rocks underneath and it was secured with adel clamps to the post on either side to avoid movement. I mounted it 4 feet above ground level to aid in sending capabilities and as an extra precaution I sealed the tube inlet and the top of box with silicone to help avoid rain/snow/moisture. As of this writing it has performed flawlessly. The only time there was an issue is when a multi-wheeled, extremely heavy propane truck rolled over it going a tad too fast and the unit got the air pressure too quick and too often. This caused a mili-second delay, but due to the distance of the unit versus the house, it was a non issue. This is a very good and reliable unit and adds a great deal of peace of mind as well as security to a remote farm house in the boonies. If you are looking for something that will indicate vehicles entering your property, look no further. If you want something that will detect foot traffic or ANY entry/activity, go with something that is wireless.Excellent product all the way around.

love it
We have a long road coming to our house. We put this across the driveway at a point where a culvert occurs so people have to run over it to come to the house. The bell would not sound at distances described in the review. We had to get it 150 yards from the house and used sticky velcro tapes on it to attach it to the window in an upstairs bedroom facing the rubber hose in order to get it to work. It does not work on rainy days as it is in the weather and rain seems to seep in and temporarily make it not work BUT it is fabulous the rest of the time. I love it. I now know when UPS is coming and when my husband is coming and going and when the lookie- loos decide to venture down the driveway to just see what is at the end. Most people I've asked say they didn't even notice it when they drove over it. We have a grey slag driveway and I have been very pleased with the cord's performance on top of that surface. Can't speak for other types of surfaces. I tired wrapping the box in a black trash bag to protect it from the weather, but my husband said we can't do that. It will sweat and ruin it, so took it out and just don't expect it to work on rainy days. The original battery has lasted a good year so far. We chose this one because we have so much wildlife in our little heaven that the other type would be useless and go off all night.

Beware of 2 things.
I bought this for my driveway. It did not work because the item needs a clear line of sight to the house. Also the housing of the outdoor unit allows water in or condensation forms quickly on the inside of the unit which stops it from working. I tried to return it, and then read the return policy which states there is a 50% to 80% restocking fee!! Stay away from this product.
