fantastic - did the job for a 4 day bike packing trip in scotland. Water is pretty clean here anyway but always better to be on the safe side.

Great filter! Used it for a year now although mostly on European hikes.

Why did you choose this product over others?: This is my second Katadyn Befree and I love it, I ride my bike in the Peak District of Derbyshire and I really don’t like carrying a full bladder of water in my backpack so my befree is an absolute game changer enabling me to get fresh clean water from one of the many rivers or streams without the weight penalty, it’s brilliant 🤩 I’ve bought another one because one was 5 years old and I thought it a good idea to get a fresh one 👍😎

This filter is super efficient and light...much faster than the Sawyer Squeeze but with less life to it (1000 gallons vs 10,000 gallons). However I've never had a filter last more than a year no matter their claims. The draw back is that the bottle cannot be used to store water...the chemical taste leaches into the water. I have tested this over a 24 hr period with both the bottle it comes with (made by Hydrapal) AND the HydraPak 2l bottle bought separately. Both leave a horrendous taste in the water. Bottles are fine for holding water to filter immediately but DON'T rely on them for water carrying capacity as the water is basically undrinkable after a few hours due to taste. Buy other collapsible water bottles for water carry in dry areas and then use the provided bottles for filtering

I love this filter. I have been using this for 8 months now and found it to be really reliable with good quality output.

I have used the filter a couple of times now. Very happy, it has made the water very drinkable. I try to use clean stream (spring) water, so not too many impurities. Easy to use. Fill & squeeze.

It does exactly what it says. I've used it for filtering about 30L of water so far (not particularly dirty) but it's been working great. Flow rate is really fast still, and I like the collapsible bottle design - great to travel with.

Great filter for outdoors - easy to clean (swish filter in clean water) and 1 liter bottle is light and compact (will fit in coat pocket with filter). I could gotten a 2 or 3 liter bottle but 1 liter is fine since you can filter into a larger storage bag if necessary. I have the Sawyer but after my friend showed me his Katadyn BeFree and the rapid filter/flow, I got it and my Sawyer is now my back up. Only filters water born parasites but does not filter viruses or chemical contaminates.
