Gel-Venture 5 vs Gel-Venture 6
As a retired nurse with a history of plantar fasciitis, I've learned to look at trainers differently. Prevention is the best way to go and that means wearing a good shoe that compliments a size specific insole that is designed for your specific foot issue. I've worn Asics for years and have purchased 3 pairs in the Gel-Venture series. These shoes offer great stability, are super durable and house my favorite insole (Spenco Polysorb Cross Trainer) well. Practically speaking, a shoe is only as good as it's insole and most insoles are made for the average foot. As a person with abnormally high arches, I find that regardless of the price, no shoe is going to offer the arch support I need. I've tried expensive trainers (Brooks Reverie) but these are a far more comfortable and stable shoe for walking. I average somewhere between-15-20 miles per week on asphalt and my Gel-Venture 5s lasted 18 months. In comparing the Gel-Venture 5 to 6, the 6 has (1) a slightly more rounded toe which results in more toe room (2) less padding on the tongue (3) a deeper tread (4) feels a half size larger and (5) more padding on the heal. Personally, I prefer the Gel-Venture 6. In regards to sizing, I wear a 6.5 in shoes, 6.0 in sandals and found the 6.5 in this shoe accomodates thick socks comfortably. Wore them for the first time today and walked 6 miles in total comfort.

Do not recommend! Description below.
I wrote ASICS about this shoe, the venture 6. I’m with the other reviewers that think maybe amazon purchases are knockoffs as opposed to buying from an ASICS store, due to it being so uncomfortable. I would compare it to walking on concrete barefoot. Another reviewer mentioned she can only wear ASICS made in a certain country, and that the ASICS made in certain places were made cheaper or something. This shoe reminded me of a Walmart tennis shoe that won’t hardly break in. ASICS told me there are possibly knockoffs sold on amazon, and recommended the nimbus as their most cushioned shoe. The venture 6 I ordered here was comfy enough around my foot, but the removable insole was very thin and not supportive. Under the insole the material where your foot sits was hard plastic or nylon in a screen pattern.

Great for High Arches!
These are my new favorite running shoes (I switched over from Saucony ISO Triumph 2). Not only are they comfortable, but they are inexpensive. As a runner with high arches, and as one who rolls her ankles even on flat surfaces, these are fantastic.p.s. I usually wear a size 10 in regular, everyday shoes, and a 10.5 in running shoes. I got 10.5 in these and they fit great. Also, I usually have to wear orthotics due to my high arch sitch, and I have not used them yet in these shoes.

Must Have!!!!
My favorite sneaker. I have flat feet and suffer from plantar fasciitis. I bought my first gel venture 6 from DSW because I was in so .much pain and this sneaker is so amazing that I got another from Amazon. It is the only sneaker that gives my foot enough support that I don't feel pain. I have one for daily wear and one for the gym and I can be on my feet all day at work plus workout without feeling like I'm dying or my feet are going to fall off. I have recommended these to my family and bought the men's one for my fiancé and he loves it too.Bottom line: get it, your feet will thank you

From a trail runner
Update: I just ran 6 miles in these as my first run. Kind of far for a first time but they needed zero breaking in period and performed great. No blisters or discomfort. Breathability good for an Atlanta summer day. My only criticism is that anyone using these for trail running (a good percentage I'd hope) would naturally want a longer toe box. I wish I didn't have to go up half a size to get this because then it throws off the general fit of the rest of the shoe. But that's just me. In general these have a more generous toe box than most. Not as rigid a performance as the 5s. I would probably purchase the 5s again if I could however I definitely can recommend these 6s and I'll adapt more fluently within a couple more runs.Original review:I trail run 8-12 miles per week. I loved my Gel Venture 5s because they felt like they were custom made for my foot. When I first got into running I couldn't believe how well they fit.I need new shoes every 9 months or so and I always go back to the gel venture 5s so I was very sad when I found out they were discontinued. So cue the Gel Venture 6s!I'm pleased to report the gel venture 6s fit just as well as the 5s. The arch support is not as high as the 5s though (I also got half a size larger this time to prevent runners toe so this could be influencing it a bit). They're also not quite as boxy/sturdy as the 5s.One of the reasons I love Asics gel ventures is because they're a very strong shoe. A lot of the times with trail shoes they almost feel like slippers which some runners prefer but I don't. I like something with good feedback and bounce and protection. There have been times I've been seduced by the marketing of other brands, but I always end up returning them and going back to Asics.I plan on running with these tomorrow and will update but I was so excited to write my review I couldn't wait. The only difference I've noted is it had a different tread than the 5s. One huge plus of the gel ventures over other trail shoes is that you can use them as a road shoe, which is nice. You can also use them as a walking/every day shoe and walk on tile/hardwood. Most other trail shoes you might as well walk on wax paper if you're on tile.

Walking on Air
First off I love asics. I started a new job that I will be on my feet for 10 hours and most of that time will be spent walking. I wanted a good pair of shoes. These are awesome. Right out of the box they were comfortable. I wore them all day with no problems. I highly recommend getting a pair.

Great for slim feet. So good for knees!
I did loads of research on the type of running shoe I needed to protect my knees and for high arches. I'm a size 7 but my feet are quite wide so the 7 was a bit tight, and not to be goldilocks about it but the 7.5 are a bit too long. So these are a bit narrow in style, but they do the job. Saying that, they are great on my knees and arches. I've been on plenty of road and trail runs and so far they do stand up to great value for money and really comfortable. They're not the best looking kids on the block but keep running and no-one will notice!! If they made a wider model I'd be sold on a running shoe for life.

Exactly as expected!
These trainers are just wonderful. So often I buy shoes on line and they do not fit. These are perfect. They look good, feel great and do the job! I know they are not cheap but they are very good quality and I expect them to last me a long time. They arrived in good time. No complaints here! Would buy again.

Best running trainers so far!
I was worried that the trainers would not fit but they do and perfectly. I use them for running and they are very comfortable and have great support too. The pictures of product are realistic; they are exactly as expected based on the online image. I also love the colour.
