NuForce BTR100 High Fidelity Bluetooth Digital Receiver (Black)

I initially installed this connected via optical cable into the DAC of a Halo 5 preamplifier which in turn was connected to an Emotiva XPA-3 power amplifier. It sounded very good streaming music from my Samsung tablet using several different sources, e.g. Google Play All Access, Amazon Cloud, and Murfie. However, as others have noted, I did hear some fairly loud clicks when not playing music (these were totally silent during actual music play). Upon investigation, I determined that it was actually a relay in the preamplifier, not the player, that was clicking off and on. I now am using this player with a Denon AV-4311ci receiver, again using an optical cable, and I do not hear any clicking with this combination at all. Not sure why the difference, so it may just be a function of what device you connect the player to and you probably won't know if this will occur with your device until you try it. It has been reported that the clicking goes away when using the analog cable, but I haven't tried this as I want to use the superior DAC built into my equipment, so I always use the optical connection. I have had NO dropouts with this player with either of my devices, but I know that Bluetooth is not like Wi-Fi, so I don't try to stream with my tablet out of the room in which the player is located. Music sounds good to very good, depending on the source. Higher resolution sources (320 kbps) sound better than 256 kbps which sound better than 128 kbps, as expected. I would buy this player again.

One of the few Bluetooth "aptX" enabled and 'Optical Out" Blutetooth hubs out there, and the best one at this super low price range.Sound quality from the Optical output is OK though I get some scary noises when I play some youtube HD videos, I hope that goes away with a little burn in. Unless you don't own a hifi system, you wont be using the analog output as you wont get any good DAC's at this price range. The BTR 100 is ok to turn a Harman Kardon, Bang and Olufsen or Bose quasi hifi systems into Bluetooth enabling or to turn Apple Airplay only Ipod Speakers into Bluetooth enabled. For a High End system, consider Arcam's rBlink for 4 times the price. I bought this BTR 100 to turn the Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Air in a small room into Bluetooth enabled via the optical connection (Using an Audioquest Forest Toslink for this superlow budget configuration). For the McIntosh MHA 1000 experiment I used an Audioquest Diamond Toslink to be fair. Ive tried this NuForce BTR100 with 3 different separate DAC's via the Optical Toslink, the McIntosh MHA 1000 (Its a ridiculous pairing I know but I had to experiment), the Arcam rDAC and the DAC on board the Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Air, (Three levels of performance and price ranges of DACs) and I can say it fared quite normal, always considering the NuForce BTR 100's bargain price and its natural Bluetooth limitations which every Bluetooth hub will encounter. It probably is just that this is the most quality we can get while on a Bluetooth aptX connection and I guess Bluetooth aptX will never ever sound as good as a conventional Optic or Coax or even PCM USB 2.0 connection to a HIFi DAC. The internal DAC it comes with (a Wolfson I assume?) has a precise and dynamic midrange but bass is mediocre and highs are just not there, but for a 70 dollar item I think you get more than what you pay for with this little guy. Its worth the buy since the forerunner, the Marantz RX 101 Bluetooth receiver at 99 dollars doesn't seem to support AptX, I think. I really wanted the Marantz at first, because I respect Marantz's value and trully HiFi products, but it doesn't say anywhere that the RX 101 supports aptX (If it does then Marantz has to advertise its products better), and according to my friend who bought it, it doesn't. Hence its my honest opinion that this NuForce BTR 100 is the best buy for Bluetooth receivers below 100 dollars. Theres the Monoprice which I haven't heard and others around the price range but the NuForce BTR 100 is my pick. As another review said, the next level would be the Arcam rBlink for FOUR times the price, and that's because the rBlink has an internal powerful DAC which you would bypass anyways if you have your own DAC using the rBlink's digital coax out.Honestly, for us audiophiles, Bluetooth no matter how much aptX, will never cut it. But lets be honest. When your friends are home and the ladies want to chose the music they just want to Bluetooth it, so this Bluetooth receiver turns your HiFi system into MidFi, but socially accessible, and in the end, what is music for?Totally worth the money, BUY NOW.

If you have one or more older audio systems as we do, the Optoma NuForce BTR 100 is an inexpensive way to provide high-quality streaming music input from a phone or pad device.The BTR 100 is small and nicely finished. It has power in, 3.5mm out and TOSLink out ports, the latter if you want to use an external DAC. It is not switched - always on when plugged in. A single blue LED light indicates no connection when blinking and connection when solid. It supports both apt/X and AAC and connects automatically using these codecs if supported by your transmitting device.It comes with power supply and two 3.5 mm cables including one to convert from 3.5 mm to standard RCA connectors. I cannot find a spec for the internal DAC but a couple of reviewers have speculated that it may be Wolfson.Connecting to the receiver is simple - put your source device into Bluetooth discovery mode, find "NuForce BTR 100" and connect. Some users have complained that the connection range is quite limited but I have not had this problem. I am using the BTR 100 as input device to a Topping TP 22 amp with an iPAD Air2 as the source streaming device.

Excellent product! Sound is fabulous with the apt-x technology, and connecting it using the optical digital out to a high end DA converter really is a revelation! I have a Meridian DA converter connected to a tube type pre-amp, to a Muse 160 power amp, powering a couple of Martin Logan electrostatics, and I kid you not the sound played through that system using Pandora on my Samsung S4 is very, very musical indeed! I would have kept it I that system as I was thoroughly enjoying it, but I really bought it to install in my custom car audio system, to get rid of the wire that tethers my phone to the system. It did not dissapointed in that respect, either. Bluetooth range is a bit limited, but it did not matter in my application. Very happy with this and extremely great value!

The range is pretty poor, maybe 15 feet anything further and the music starts skipping pretty bad. I have used other BT receivers with the same device that have had 2.5 to 3 times the range.

Awesome little box. Have it plugged into my vintage marantz amp. When using my iPhone it makes Spotify tracks sound CD quality (audiophiles may disagree). Annoyingly it doesn’t have an on off switch though, so you have to pull the power lead out the back to turn it off. The always on blue light is a little odd too.

Utilisé avec un iPad ou un iPhone 5s et Apple Musique ( encodage AAC), j’ai relié la sortie analogique du BTR 100 avec un Monster Câble - jack stéréo /cinch - à mon préamplificateur hifi A&E qui attaque deux blocs mono Cabasse alimentant une paire d’enceintes... Cabasse...du matos Vintage 😎Le résultat est tout simplement excellent, le son est hyper dynamique du grave à l’aigu et neutre sur toute la bande passante sans aucune agressivité et pourtant les Cabasses il ne faut pas trop les chatouiller... Aucun problème de décrochage Bluetooth à noter, même en déplaçant l’iPad ou l’iPhone dans une pièce voisine située à 7/8 mètres du BTR100. Cet appareil au rapport qualité prix incroyable me donne entière satisfaction.

Ho acquistato questo prodotto per collegarlo ad un Marantz PM6005 a sua volta collegato a due Indiana Line Diva 552 tramite uscita ottica.Volevo acquistare l’Arcam miniBlink che ha delle splendide recensioni, ma siccome il DAC integrato nel mio Marantz mi piace, avevo paura di perdere tale prerogativa collegandolo solo in analogico. Poi, oltre a costare di più dovevo anche acquistare un cavetto da 3,5 mm/RCA di qualità visto che purtroppo il mio Marantz non possiede una Line-In da 3,5. Quindi sarei arrivato a 150 euro, con questo ne ho spesi 73 ma vedo che adesso è già a 62……..bella f******tura.Appena arrivato ho collegato subito un LG G5 (che sulla carta supporta addirittura apt-X HD, ma il NUFORCE è comunque solo apt-X) ed ho subito avuto problemi di saltelli vari del segnale, almeno uno per brano musicale. E’ come quando un CD salta, si perde qualche bit. Ho provato di tutto, sono sicuro che non erano interferenze di altri apparecchi, poi verso la fine della recensione capirete perchè. Ho collegato un Tablet Lenovo, ma è peggiorato di brutto, i saltelli erano continui. L’ho quindi collegato al mio PC SURFACE PRO 128 e allora è andato liscio come l’olio, mai un saltello, ma non sono stato in grado di capire se la trasmissione fosse con il protocollo apt-X. Da qualche parte ho letto che apt-X è un codec e che non necessita di apposito hardware e che sia una prerogativa integrata in windows 10 quindi la trasmissione dovrebbe essere apt-X. So con certezza che il SURFACE PRO 4 si collega con quel protocollo perchè qualcuno ha avuto modo di verificare. Vabè comunque a me interessava trasmettere dallo smartphone, per il PC avrei acquistato un DAC USB. Quindi possiamo stabilire (l’ho capito con l’aiuto di un altro utente Amazon che aveva acquistato lo stesso prodotto) che il mio LG ha la parte software dell’apt-X male implementata. Posso in merito informarvi che molti utenti non hanno avuto alcun problema di saltelli dell’audio (ho fatto una domanda ai recensori).Ok, torniamo a noi, la mia intenzione era di liberarmi della Chromecast perchè l’account gratuito di Spotify non trasmette su Chromecast e quindi ero fregato, ed in questo come sopra scritto ho fallito l’obiettivo.Comunque ho fatto qualche prova. Ho collegato la parte analogica tramite i cavetti in dotazione e mi sono sorpreso a scoprire che il suono mi piaceva quasi più del mio DAC Marantz, era un pò più ricco sui bassi e limava un pò di sibili sulle vocali delle voci del DAC Marantz. In verità non sapevo decidermi, il Marantz mi sembrava più aperto, mentre il Nuforce era più corposo ma comunque corretto, senza mancanze nella parte alta.Ho poi voluto esagerare: ho acquistato Random Access Memories dei Daft Punk in alta definizione (88,2 Khz e 24 bit FLAC dal sito HIGHRESAUDIO). Con il mio LG G5 sono quindi partito a fare una comparazione tra il NUFORCE in analogico e la Chromecast sull’ingresso ottico TOSLINK. Trasmettevo alla Chromecast tramite la app AllCast e al Nuforce tramite PowerAmp. Non ci crederete, in effetti non ci credevo nemmeno io, ma potevo trasmettere in contemporanea i due flussi audio.Parliamo di risoluzioni. Per accertarmi di come uscisse l’audio ho preventivamente collegato entrambi su un ricevitore milticanale della H.K. che sul display mostra la risoluzione dell’audio in ingresso: dalla chromecast usciva effettivamente a 88.2 Khz, mentre lo stesso file trasmesso sul Nuforce, dalla sua uscita ottica usciva a 44.1 Khz (me lo aspettavo perchè questo è il limite di apt-X, mentre solo apt-X HD può andare oltre).Ho passato un pò di tempo a cambiare il selettore degli ingressi sul Marantz alla ricerca del santo gral dell’alta definizione, ma non l’ho trovato. Anzi, quasi preferivo l’ingresso analogico del Nuforce perchè come ho detto prima arricchisce un pò i bassi. Il Marantz ha un solo ingresso ottico e quindi per forza di cose dovevo tenere il Nuforce in analogico. Forse le differenze ?? le avrei sentite ancora meno trasmettendo i due flussi nello stesso DAC del Marantz con entrambi i dispositivi, ma ripeto, il Marantz ha un ottico e un coassiale e basta, il resto tutto analogico.Ok, dopo questa parentesi, parliamo di hardware. Se qualcuno pensa di acquistare un prodotto Nuforce, si sbaglia di grosso, forse la scatola esterna è Nuforce, la scheda interna è sicuramente un qualcosa di fatto in Cina, tipo Fiio, in quanto un sito polacco ha ritrovato la stessa ed identica scheda su almeno altri due prodotti. Ho visto le foto, sulla scheda elettronica il marchio Nuforce non è scritto da nessuna parte.Dallo stesso sito ho rilevato le sigle dei DAC. Ci sono due chip Wolfoson, uno sulla parte analogica ed uno per la parte ottica, rispettivamente il WM8524 ed il WM8804.Comunque per quanto riguarda l’alta definizione ho letto in diversi siti che studi teorici affermano di quanto sia inutile. Anche diversi test in doppio cieco hanno confermato la teoria. Il mio test conferma, ma sono consapevole di avere una attrezzatura di basso livello (anche se mi è costata in totale più di mille euro). A Natale ho ascoltato un impianto da 80.000 euro e forse su quello la differenza si riesce a percepire, ma io posso anche continuare ad ascoltare Spotify, il che economicamente è anche una buona notizia visto quanto si fanno pagare questi file in HD.Purtroppo il mondo dell’HI-Fi è pieno di contraddizioni e districarsi è molto difficile. Prendete per esempio l’album che io ho comprato il alta definizione, si trattava del Master Audio uscito dallo studio di registrazione; eppure leggendo le recensioni di chi ha acquistato la versione in Vinile ne esaltavano la maggiore qualità ed il “calore” dell’analogico. Ma se è stato registrato in digitale !!!! io possiedo il Master che poi è stato trasferito sui vinili, questo “calore” da dove arriva? Secondo me è la puntina che strofina sul disco.Ok, mi sembra di aver detto tutto. Ho cercato di aiutare i potenziali acquirenti di questo ottimo prodotto mettendoci tutto il mio impegno, vi sarei grato se vorrete gratificarmi con un voto positivo se avete trovato informazioni interessanti, vi ringrazio.

Absolut geiler Sound! Hätte ich von BT gar nicht erwartet. Das zeigt wieder einmal eindrucksvoll, dass man bei Nubert nix falsch machen kann. Kaufempfehlung!!!
