Replaced Stock WTB Tires, went tubeless!
Got this to replace a ridiculously heavy WTB tire that came on my bike. I've been using a Continental Trail King 2.2 on the rear and have been happy with it, so I figured I'd give this one a try. The volume is a little smaller than the Trail King, but the tire feels stiffer (which I prefer on the front) but seems to grip as well or better than the old tire. If you keep the pressure low enough so there is plenty of tire deflection over roots and rocks, you'll feel like you are riding in a limo. Like this tire thus far!!I set these up tubeless on a set of bontrager Rythym rims that are tubeless ready. They inflated right up like nothing and popped into the bead. Added a couple ounces of Stan's sealant and voila! These puppies will ride around at 20 lbs under my 200+ pound carcass over roots and rocks. I actually dented an aluminum rim riding with the pressure too low (17 lb), but the tire stayed seated and didn't even go flat!

If you're going to use Stan's NoTubes with this product ...
If you're going to use Stan's NoTubes with this product with their rim strip do yourself a favor and invest $100 in a pancake compressor; I was there for hours trying to get the initial bead with a hand pump - if you don't have a compressor take about $10 in quarters to the local gas station and use their compressor. Once you get the initial bead you're home free. I've had no problems with Stan's once the tire's beaded but it's next to impossible to get that initial bead with a hand pump. Just trying to save somebody else the frustration I went through.

A very nice tire
The 2.4" tire is big! I would recommend rims that have a wide inner width. The only thing I wasn't crazy about are those injection molding artifacts that stick out of tires - those little rubber needles which most tires have. These have them on the beed and in my opinion the UST bead should be seamless - I like to go latex free. However, with these tires on my rims, they did not seem to loose air any faster than other UST tires.Just putting it out there.

Fall/Winter Boots!
Now that I have a handful of rides on these shoes I can say they are great. Before these I had low weight Maxxis Ikons but I needed something a bit more grippy with all the leaves of fall and the wetness of winter around the corner. I can definitely feel the increased grip of those bigger knobs digging through the leaves, but I can also feel the added weight. However knowing that front tire won't wash out under you on slippery conditions is a worthy compromise. I am HAPPY with this change for the wet season, and if I get used to the weight maybe I'll keep them all year long!

Great traction
Needed to replace my Continental X-King tires with a better winter/mud tire - they filled with mud immediately on rides. These did the trick. I've been out in the snow/mud with very little slippage, with virtually no compacted mud stuck in the treads. Only issue which was my bad - I read a review that said the tires ran small, so instead of getting 2.2's I got 2.4's - these tires are absolutely huge (reviews must have been for the prior model of the tire). Will keep the 2.4 on the front but have ordered a 2.2 for the back because tire tread is barely off the frame crossbar.

I have had problems with nobs tearing off of this tire, the grip is great for the Arizona terrain I ride on but tire wear seemed quick. I have since been using Continental Trail King tires with much success. No nobs breaking off, grip is just as good if not better than before and my tread wear has certainly seemed slower.

Maybe it's just bad luck but these tires seem VERY thin and weak ...
I've given these new tires about 300 miles so far and in that time I've had about 7 flats due to random road debris. In the tens of thousands of previous miles I've ridden I've never gotten so many flats. Maybe it's just bad luck but these tires seem VERY thin and weak compared to every other MTB tire I've ever purchased. On the flip side they are VERY light and seem to handle everything pretty well, just carry 2+ extra tubes!

WITHIN THE 1ST FIVE MINUTES OF RIDING THIS TIRE AT SLICKROCK, MOAB, UTAH I RALLIED INTO A CORNER AND THE SIDEWALL COMPLETELY BALLONED OUT, MAJOR SIDEWALL BUBBLE. THIS WAS SETUP ON AN ELLSWORTH EVOLVE WITH ELLSWORTH TUBELESS WHEELSET AND A LITTLE BIT OF STANS. I'VE RUN ALL OF MY NON-TUBELESS TIRES THIS WAY WITH NO ISSUES, EVER. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AN ANOMALY BUT THAT IN AND OF ITSELF WILL ALWAYS MAKE ME STEER CLEAR OF THIS TIRE.
