Very useful, but treat them gently
These saved me from getting rid of most of my earrings. Over the years my ears have become increasingly sensitive to various metals. Most of my earrings were impossible to wear after even 30 minutes without making my ears itch and swell, and it would take days for the reaction to resolve. Now I can put these over the offending metal and wear whatever I want.A few tips: cut them down to fit. I don’t think they’re even intended to be used full length, because that leaves no room for the earring back. They’re easy to cut with scissors and you can get just the right length for the thickness of your own ear. Also, they don’t work well with curved wires. I’ve made them work, but it almost always splits them so it’s more of a one-time use situation. Cutting them as short as possible to still cover the wire helps but not entirely. For me, a better solution for hooks is to replace them with surgical steel, which I don’t react to.And finally, they are thicker than standard posts and will stretch your piercings if that’s all you’re used to. I now wear 16 gauge studs that I leave in most of the time and have no problem with these or with my piercings closing up, but if you only use these once in a while you’ll feel the difference. The quality isn’t great; they are easy to split. But they’re still incredibly useful if you have sensitive ears.

One size does NOT fit all.
With a metal allergy you only have a couple of options… wear gold or nothing. But what if you’ve got cute earrings that aren’t gold?! Well I went looking for options and decided on these. They’re inexpensive and seem smart in theory. Unfortunately the end result was infected ears. To be fair, the posts on the earrings were a bit larger than most. But I don’t know if that’s what caused it. I put them on the posts and in my ear. They seemed fine. But a day later my ears were red and hot. The sleeve had scrunched up on the post, leaving my ears in direct contact with the metal. Maybe these would work on some earrings but they definitely didn’t work on mine. Off to look for something else…

Solved all our newly pierced ear problems!
My 11 year old daughter got her ears pierced 5 months ago, and she has still been having painful issues putting her earrings back in when switching earrings or after removing her earrings for sports. While she did not have any allergic reactions, her holes would close up almost immediately, which made every time we had to put earrings through the holes again very painful. We also had problems because she has to remove her earrings for sports, and we had a very difficult time putting earrings back in after there had been nothing in her ears for an hour or more. These plastic post "protectors" are AWESOME. They are invisible when you insert them on their own, but they are hollow, so you can put any earring post through them as well. This is great because once we put them in her ears, she can easily switch any earrings she wants in and out without pain or "repiercing". She can also take her earrings out, but leave the plastic protector post in while she plays sports so that her holes don't close up. Since they are plastic, there is absolutely no concern about an allergic reaction. We plan to leave the plastic post posts in her ears indefinitely until her holes show no signs of closing up again. I HIGHLY recommend these to anyone who has recently had their ears pierced. I wish we had started using them as soon as she was able to remove the original piecing earrings.

They work, but they are flimsy
My daughter has trouble wearing earrings. Her ears get all irritated and red and nothing seems to help. I bought one package of these to give them a try. To my great surprise, these little plastic protectors actually work. She can wear earrings again without irritation. However, the protectors are so, so, so small and delicate, it's very hard to get them separated from each other (they come connected). I ruined several of them just trying to get them apart. Once you get them apart, you have to snip the end off so you can get the back of the earring on, which is also a challenge, especially if you have fingers that aren't very nimble. Then, I think I lost three of them just trying to get them in my daughter's ears. So, yeah, they are challenging, but ito me, they are worth the price. I will buy more, but I'll look for a bigger package or buy several packages next time. That way, I can ruin as many as I want.

Good concept but..
When applied to erring the stud becomes to thick to go into piercing. Was unable to use. If however you do your own piercing I'd suggest using a larger needle to compensate this. We will find another alternative. My daughter is allergic to metals apparently ex. Stainless. But you know stainless lacks many fun designs.

I will buy these again.
These enable me to wear earrings that caused itching, swelling and redness in the past. You have to "gauge" out your earring holes. My suggestion is take a breath and push it through quickly. Then care for your ears as if they were newly pierced both disinfecting and turning the earrings and posts until they are no longer tender.I would have liked more earring backs, I lost two in the first week. But I have a short hair style which I constantly tuck behind my ears... I have cut a slit in the clear earring backs you use on dangly earrings and these have done well as they fit snugly over the post and sheaths without taring the sheath.I will be purchasing more.

Good for sensitive ears, but do not count on using the backs provided
The size/shape of the earring post protector is perfect for my studs so far. However, the backings that they include do not fit, and I will have to go buy some rubber backs from the store. As far as sensitivity, my ears were a little itchy for about an hour or two, and then were completely fine and I didn't notice them for days! Other reviews said that with the protector, they couldn't fit the earring into their piercing hole. I would agree, it would be difficult/painful for small piercing holes. They fit great in my first piercing (done 15 years ago), but do not fit in my 3rd piercing (done 3 years ago).
