Conair The Cordless Collection ~ 3/4-inch Curling Iron

Wow! Was super impressed with this curling iron!Years ago my friend told me she wouldn't go camping without this curling iron. I laughed. You're camping. Why do you need a curling iron? Well, now I have short hair that can't just be put in a pony tail and looks like I stuck my finger in a light socket when it's not properly tamed in the morning. Enter this perfect, inexpensive solution. I used it daily on my week long camping trip for a quick touch up. Presto! No bed head!It operates very simply. Unscrew the bottom of the curling iron, insert the uncapped butane cartridge, screw the bottom back on, push the "start" button down which engages the cartridge, then push in the "on" button. It's much like an encased lighter in a curling iron body. It heats up to a perfect temp within a minute or two. I used about 1/6th of a cartridge per use, about 10 minutes.Before ordering I was concerned about it setting my hair on fire but no worries. When you actually see the design and use it you'll see that it's really no more dangerous than a plug in curling iron.All in all, it's a good design for a decent price. The only improvement I think would be to make it a tad bigger. And it unfortunately doesn't come with a carrying bag or case for travel (which you would think it would).It works great and is perfect for times when I won't have a plug handy. So glad I bought it!

Works great, the same as the one I bought years ago, the only thing missing was a cover. When they were sold in stores it came with a cover which made it more convenient for carrying in a purse. There's not much to really say except that it does what it's supposed to do. It heats up very quickly and for me, the curls last all day. A few words of warning though, be sure to remove the butane if you will be carrying it around in a bag or purse. It is very easy to bump the on switch and lose all of your butane. I was able to find the butane refills at Walmart in the camping section at a more than reasonable price ($5.00). All of this makes it a pretty good buy in my opinion. Ladies, If you're looking for an on the go, last minute styling tool, this may just be it!

I read the reviews and figure I'd have a 50/50 shot of this working. I bought this and have tried at least 5 times on separate occasions to get this to heat up and work since it's cordless. One day, I was even working from home and had it on for 4+ hours and it still never heated up.... The best part of this experience is how amazon was very accommodating and offered me a refund for this defective product. Overall, I purchased this recently end of April/early May 2023 and it has not worked at all each time I try to use it and patiently wait for it to heat up. I would suggest to avoid this product and try to find a different cordless/ wireless option.

I like it. A little bit bulky but convenient. Don’t have to mess with a cord.

I used to use a butane curling iron back in the late 80's. It was AWESOME. When I went camping... I always had my signature 80's mall hair no matter where we were. When I had sleepover parties with tons of teen girls.... I didn't fight for the outlet! I was looking for something like this again as I am doing a lot of camping and a lot of traveling where the power situation is not known. So I was so happy to find a butane flat iron.I have not gone through one of the cells yet so I can't tell you how long these last only that I did mark the canister's fuel level when I started and I haven't made much of a dent in it after a few days of using it. My estimation is 30 days - your use may vary on how much you use it. I use this for the crown area of my hair not the whole head. Takes maybe 10 minutes or less a day for me.What did get me thinking is the heat that butane generates .... there is no high or low... it's steady heat... and I wondered what I was subjecting my hair to. I normally use a flat iron or curling iron on its lower settings.... 190 C/350 F. I have fine hair and it scorches easily. So I measured it. After two minutes we were at 150 C/ 300 F. Now it does creep higher after that but it's really slow. If you need an iron that gets in the 400 degree F range to even make a dent in your hair - this will not work for you. For me, this works fine... It does take longer to get the same results at 350 F that I'm trying to achieve with 300 F - but I can get the same results.Use... you have to remember to turn off the flow of butane when done or you will waste a canister. When you turn it on, first start the flow of gas by pressing the button, then click the igniter. You will know it's going because you will be able to see a small blue/orange flame through the holes on the one side.Also... you cannot pack this in a carry on. If you are flying this must be in checked luggage I'm afraid.

Has worked pretty well for me so far. Works better when my hair hasn't been washed for a day. Even for curly hair, it works pretty well and stays up well (with hairspray, of course). I've only used it a few times over the last month or so, so I'm not sure how long the battery will last. I've taken out the battery after each use when the curling iron cooled downUPDATE: I'm not sure if it's the battery or the curling iron, but it doesn't work anymore. It went out after 4 months and not very much use. I am going to have to buy another battery to see if that's the problem, or if it's the curling iron itself. I'm not sure how long the battery is supposed to last. It curls really well and makes my hair look great, which is why I'm giving it a three. Very disappointed that it didn't last very long.

My wife loves it, great size and quick and easy to use

bought for Cuba trip and it worked exceptional.but don't forget the cartridge is screw in and not push in so read the instructions.

My wife uses it for her hair.Very pleased.

Very disappointed, it heats up ok but there is not enough tension to hold the hair in place to work and I am unable to return it because it works with gas..... lesson learned.
