This reel is a work horse!
This is my second Lews Tournament MB. I have had the 5.6.1 for a couple of years now and only use it for crank baits. I ordered the 7.5.1 and it has been my most fished bait casting reel this year 2021. I have other bait casting reels, even the Lews Tournament Pro. However, I wound up using the Tournament MB 7.5.1 the most this season and it has performed excellent. The reels are easy to setup and cast great. They have plenty of drag power and retrieve smoothly. I just wish they had put numbers over the break knob, that would have been cool. I know it has been replaced by the MP and that one I do not have. Just wanted to say that the MB's have been great and Lews customer care has also been great to work with, whether I needed to order extra gear or just had a question. If the MP is truly an upgrade to the MB, then I think it will be a great reel as well. Happy fishing.

So far, so good! I'm very pleased.
At first I didn't see the benefits of owning a Baitcaster until my first time out I changed lures from a 3/8ths spinner bait to a weightless fluke (tinkered with the brake settings) and I was able to cast the weightless just as far as the spinner bait! I was blown away that the weight of the lure didn't matter to bomb baits out there! This is where it gets tempting because you constantly want to practice with less brakes on to see how far you can cast.So far this Lew's has been nice; its also my first Baitcaster and I really like it. The drag is so nice and consistent! I hardly over-run or backlash, and when I do I know its because my brakes are set too light, but more-so I was "snappy" with flicking my wrist on the cast. A firm sweeping cast (not loading up the rod tip with tension) and no snapping the wrist is what this reel likes best.Reeling-in is quick and sometimes faster than you think. I wouldn't say that's a bad thing but something to pace yourself with. Sometimes I wonder what its like to go with a super fast ratio like the 8's+. Over all, I could see myself buying another one of these reels or going up to a 8+ for frogging.I've given it 4-stars until I feel its earned a 5 th but I can see it's a good product. I want to wait to see what maintenance has been like; corrosion resistance, bearing durability, etc.

1 out of 7 got returned
I have several of this model, still fishing them. I probably wont buy more, I will try something else when I buy another reel. The one I returned would grind with a load on it so Amazon replaced it. I have a few that quickly started making a light clicking noise after a while and one that I have will loose its anti-reverse when it is very cold, you better keep a thumb on the spool while doing quick pops with a stick bait or it will just free spool. All in all probably give Lews a B. Not the quality of the old BB1N's that I still coldwater crankbait with. There is a lot of stuff out there that could be built better but have good designs, that's my 2 cents.

Completely Amazed
I bought my first Lews after having purchased a couple other brand reels that had me pulling my hair. I loved my speed spool so much I bought the Tourn MB model and I have not regretted it. After being a life long spinner guy, I stepped up to BC reels and it has been quite the learning curve. Within 6 mos and fishing maybe 9 times, I have been able to cast effortlessly... The Speed Spool has only magnetic system that works great, but the Your MB has dual spool control system that really works. Because of the ease of casting, now able to cast with little to no internal braking and cast out all my line with no backlash using 3/8 oz practice plug. I'm currently at looking at buying another Lews Tourn MB, but also looking at the MP.My only complaint is the lack of choice in gear ratios in left hand.

Amazing bait-casting reel, FRAGILE spool tho. Had to return it :(
I was really amazed at how BUTTERY SMOOTH this reel was once I unboxed it and held it in my hand. Compared to another bait-caster I own, this Lew's reel was AMAZING in all aspects right out of the box. Build quality seemed solid (Loved that it was mostly full metal body) and looked nice, too. Also, the reviews on it were awesome. HOWEVER, as soon as I decided to spool it up with some 10lb mono to take this bad boy on a bass fishing test run, I was immediately disappointed. When spooling bait-casters with new line (whether it be mono, flouro or braid), the line must be under slight tension to ensure it grips the spool properly and that the line is going on tight. As I was approaching the last two couple of millimeters of the spool edge, I herd a pop sound and was no longer able to spin the handle. I just stood there confused thinking what had happened. I then noticed that the side cover (where you can access and take out the spool) was slightly opened, as if it were under lots of pressure from something. I then continued to remove the side cover to see if I could identify the issue and as I removed it to access the spool, a bunch of monofilament I had just spooled came out all coiled up (like a spring) and with it, half of the aluminum spool. The aluminum spool had BROKE IN HALF. I was shocked that after being really impressed with my purchase, my impressions were now going downhill very quickly. The spool (made of aluminum) seemed to be made very thin, which was why it probably broke in two after spooling about 100 yards of mono onto it. I immediately contacted amazons customer service and as always, they were great and understanding of the situation. I was immediately offered a full refund which I greatly appreciated (of course, I had to send them back the broken unit). It was a real shame this happened to this brand new bait-caster because I was super excited to take it for a spin after being very impressed with it initially. Now I have to keep shopping for another reel and to be honest, I am really tempted to try another Lew's because who knows, I probably got a bad one? We'll see.
