Not amazing quality but for around £10 it’s perfect

Bought for my granddaughter’s birthday as a starter set. Nice quality for the price and great that all the pieces can be packed into the box for safe keeping.

Good sized and handy. The pieces are stored neatly inside.But this is barely magnetic, the chest pieces don’t stick like the image shown. And the draft checkers don’t have any magnetic parts at all.But it’s ok other than that.

I think my 12 year old grandson will enjoy this chess set, well made, sturdy wooden box and pieces, and compact, the chess pieces store away in a specially designed sponge on the inside of the box, the box which has the board on is hinged and fasteners becoming the carrying case, ideal if he wants to take it to his friends or school, I was surprised thats were he learnt to play.

Pieces were much smaller than I was expecting. Box was nicely carved but I don't think it is solid wood - very light and feels like balsa or a composite material with veneer on top. Nasty dent in the casing and the veneer was lifting on several of the squares. It was intended as a Christmas present for a young relative but I'm afraid I will be sending it back and buying elsewhere.

My partner loves chess and desperately wanted a board for us to play. I told him only if it's pretty and tidies away nicely. This set is perfect, everything feels really good quality.

So happy with this chess set was a good price and not to cheaply made. The wood is light and put together well. The pieces are also nicely made. Some wood stain has run but I think it has added that hand made look to it

It's a nice cheap set. Contains both a full chess set and 2 extra queen's, and a checkers set. Whatever set you're not using, tends to fall out when you turn the board upside down to play. Also not sure the boards built strong enough to survive more than a few light knocks. Only time will tell. But it least is helping to pass some night with friends over.
