A Call to Love: 10 Hymn Arrangements Based on the Theme of Love, Early Advanced Piano (Sacred Performer Collections)

Bober is a favorite!
My daughter and I both play piano for churches, and both of us love Melody Bober's arrangements and use them frequently. As soon as I see a new book of hers for sale, I call my daughter and tell her about it. This is another good one. The love theme is always appropriate for services of any kind, so this book is especially useful. I have advanced and intermediate level books of hers, and I like them all. Some arrangements are more challenging than others, but all are attainable with some focused practice in a relatively short time. If you've never had a "Bober Book" as we call them, try one! I wish she would put out a book of patriotic pieces.

Just beautiful!
These arrangements are, shall I say it? Lovely! They are just the right difficulty to sound impressive without taking too long to master--great for an intermediate or early advanced player. Melody Bober uses many techniques similar to Cindy Berry's, such as playing octaves and carrying the melody over to the left hand, plus an occasional glissando at the end! Also, what I really like is that these classic hymn arrangements are traditional, making them appropriate for our more conservative church services.

I really liked the challenge of learning the arrangements in this book. Just about perfect for my type of playing.

It is moderately useful for me as a church pianist
It is moderately useful for me as a church pianist. Half of book is easily prepared. Some of the pieces half corny spots.

i like the themed books
i like the themed books; beautiful arrangements; easy enough to learn with some work. Don't like any jazz elements but this is minimal
