The color of the Yellow Christmas Cactus may vary from yellow to pinkish-yellow, to peach-yellow depending upon conditions beyond our control. These include temperature, shipping time, pH of the soil, and the fertilizer content of the soil. To the left we have shown examples of the color range of the Yellow Christmas Cactus. As Christmas approaches we cannot guarantee the plant will arrive in bloom. Christmas cactus can drop their flower buds in shipment, again due to conditions beyond our control. The Christmas cactus (Zygocactus) is native to the South American jungles. The flowers bloom once a year and come in shades of fuchsia, yellow, salmon, pink, white, orange, red and sometimes will even have a combination of the colors. The Christmas cacti are tropical plants. They require sunlight and the blooms last longer with cooler temperatures. Keep them away from heaters, fireplaces, radiators, furnace ducts, and other heat sources. In order to insure your plant will bloom in time for Christmas, you will need to give the plant a rest period. Cut back on the watering leaving the soil only partly moist. Allow at least 14 hours of total darkness for the plant at night and sun during the day, until the buds begin to form. Start the dark period in early September. Once the buds form they can take from 10 to 12 weeks to fully bloom.

Arrived all potted up and ready to hang, except...
the flowers are a pretty salmon, not a pretty yellow. The seller quickly responded to my email re this and said less sun will make the flower look yellower, but mine had two salmon blooms right out of the box. If they do turn yellow, I will definitely update this review asap to say this.Otherwise, this is an A-OK plant; healthy and pretty. I just took it out of the box and hung it out on my shaded deck where these Christmas cactuses grow very well with minimum care.

It took a while but things worked out
The first plant I got was pretty much dead. It had not been packed well and we had a bad winter but 9GreenBox replaced it and although rather more skimpy than the picture- it is alive and growing. I hope it is really yellow!

Looking Good
So far it is thriving. It did drop all its flowers but looks healthy. Probably just getting acclimated to its surroundings.

A rare beauty!
The attractive plant arrived in a very good condition. Not easy, given that it traveled across the country. The plant was appropriately packaged. While it arrived after its ideal blooming period (solely attributable to me), the expectation of a blooming beauty is significant given the state, size and marked health of the cactus. A somewhat rare Christmas cactus, the price $16.98 (includes shipping) is certainly reasonable. The ‘hanging basket’ narrative should not be interpreted too excitingly, as it is merely a three-pronged plastic contraption to attach to the unassuming plastic cactus planter allowing it to hang (as commonly found when buying a simple hanging basket at a nursery or Home Depot.)

Two Stars
Mine was not in the little hanging basket like pictured here and that is what I wanted.

A beautifully healthy plant!
I just received the plant yesterday (23 Feb 2015), and it's a truly beautiful specimen, very much like the plant in the photo. It's the wrong time of year to make certain it will have yellow flowers, but I'm hopeful. I already have plants of five other colors...just missing the yellow variety. It was packed to travel, with the dirt held in with tape so that very little escaped, and it was quite moist. Very well done on the seller's part.

Surprised
This plant is bigger than I expected. Came in very good condition and quickly. Also pleasantly surprised by the fact that it is in bloom. Can't wait for the buds to open I thought I had every color available for this plant. Never have seen a yellow one! Shipper did a great job packaging the plant to protect it, and had plenty of moistened paper around it. I will be shopping from 9GreenBox again in the near future. Need to visit their website.

Good, healthy plant
I'm giving 5 stats because the plant came in very good condition and in a very timely manner. It came with blooms and buds because it is mid December. Only problem is it wasn't the rare yellow color that I ordered - it was salmon. But I contacted 9GreenBox regarding the color and even sent them a picture of the plant so they could see that it was salmon and they refunded half of my money without any problems whatsoever. I would definitely order from them again.
