MakitaXSC01Z 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 5-3/8" Metal Cutting Saw, Tool Only

Awesome As a 28 year veteran in the electrical field, I am cutting metals all the time. This thing is awesome! As an experiment I took after a piece of 3/8" thick mild plate. I took it slow and it worked its way through a cut 3" long faster than a cut off wheel could have cut it. I would use it for cutting conduit also but there just isnt enough visual on the cut to know if your hitting the mark. Uni strut is perfect for it. I did some demo with it, cut off 20 pieces of conduit in a row about as fast as I could push it through! Its not suited best for everything but it shines at what its built for.

Works as described. Had to return first one as it was defective. Not typical with Makita power tools. Be sure to cut slow, otherwise you risk breaking blade teeth. I recommend using a 60 tooth blade verses the 32 teeth that comes with saw. The 32 tooth blade works good doubling as a skill saw on wood.

the 18 volt Makita line is awesome (chain saw, drill, etc.). Great that they all take the same battery. My experience with Makita (I have some cordless tools that are a good 15 years old) is that they support their products long term...can't say that about some of the other cordless tool makers I've used...

Just to make sure buyers are aware: this does not come with a batter or a charger. This initially set my review as a 3*, but over time as I've built my stockpile of Makita tools, it really became a money and space saver. One charger, a few batteries (2 is the best I've found, more if you run these all day), and all Makita's tools fit. I'ts a great system once I invested into it.I just bought one tool at a time as my older tools from different manufacturers died out. The last one remaining is my drill, but it's a dewalt, so It will probably last a long time. I may just bite the bullet and pick up a makita and give the dewalt to my son so I can get rid of the extra charger.The tool itself is wonderful, enough power to cut through most household metals, and even though the manual says "Don't use with wood or plastics!" That's just because the default blade it comes with is a metal cutter. you can get wood and plastic cutting blades at 5-3/8", and it becomes an amazingly portable crosscut saw that has enough depth to go through a standard 2x4. Far easier to tote this around the house or outside then dragging my Big Festool saw out (which should stay in the shop anyways).

The saw is amazing. I'm an electrician and I cut strut, conduit all day with it. I'm glad I got it. I'm gonna buy the stone and wood blade for it.Thank you.

not sure what this saw is rated for material thickness but it is amazing. I've cut 4x4 tube in two passes notched angle iron etc. it does it all.

I do HVAC work and this saw makes short work of spiral pipe!

Perfect saw. Good for metal or wood with blade change. Light, and precise.
