Wow the M4-705 Safety Sensors are definitely an upgrade.
Compared to the original safety sensor on the Marantec 4500, these M4-705 safety sensors are so much better in all aspects. First of all the M4-705 will work correctly even when there is direct sunlight. My original safety sensors would keep the garage door from closing when there was direct sunlight. The M4-705 are designed much better and sturdier. Installing was fairly simple and straight forward.

Fixed # 6 error code
Have the Marantec commercial door opener that had an intermittent failures of opening, closing, and reversing.Googled error code # 6, showed that the optical sensors failed. Replaced. easy to install and align (just remember which is the green and red sides). Now works perfect. no problems.

It works with my Harrison garage door opener...
I was looking around for a sensor to work with my Harrison garage door opener. From my research, I found that the sensor that I previously had was discontinued and this is the new placements. I installed the sensors in about 20 mins. Installation was quick and easy. BTW...I called around for quotes for this part...people were quoting me $130. So thanks for saving me money.

works well, but a few things to note
works great! Our old eye sensors went out for our marantec opener and this was an easy replacement. Rating this 3 stars for two reasons...1. there is a strange electrical buzzing that comes from one unit. Not sure if that should be considered faulty and sent in for replacement because it still works..it's just noticable and a little annoying. 2. The sensor doesn't seem to lock in place in the bracket so it back be easily knocked out of place. Not sure if this was intentional or not but I don't like it.

Easy too install and work very well in strong Sunlight
We love the Marantec brand ( installed the M4700 several years ago ) and have been very happy with the super quite garage door opener. About 6 months ago, we started having trouble with the photo eyes. It seems that during the late morning, the strong sunlight that strikes our door would wash out the photo beam and trigger the safety feature. The doors would reverse and then the overhead lights would flash until reset. We contacted the installers and it was going to be $75.00 for a trip charge and then the cost of what ever they found. We took a chance and ordered this replacement. It took all of 30 minutes to change out these with the original photo eyes and the problem has been solved.Highly recommended , easy repair !

Replaced the Sensors on My Martin DC3700E Opener. Works Fine. Kit was Missing Some Parts
I have a Martin Garage Door with a DC3700E garage door opener. The photo eye sensors were going bad so I decided to get this M4-705 kit to replace them. The kit looked like it was a returned unit. The plastic bag was closed with staples. Inside were the two brackets and the two photo eye sensors. Missing was the installation directions, the screws for the brackets and the sensor covers. I easily found the instructions online and I used the lag screws off the old photo eyes. The kit I received is actually NOT the M4-705. It was the M8-705. That worried me a little since my opener (DC3700E) was not listed as compatible. So the first thing I did was pull out the wires from my old sensors and plugged in the wires from this kit. They worked fine. I was hoping to use the wiring from the old sensors, but the new wiring was a thicker gauge, so I decided it would be better to run the new wires. The new brackets required new holes to be drilled. But once the brackets were in place and the photo eyes installed and wires run to the opener, it worked on the first try without needing any adjustment. One of my issues with the old photo eye sensors was sensitivity to the sun. I have a south facing garage and especially in the winter, the sun in the morning and evening would shine on the sensors and disrupt the opener from working. I have not tested these new sensors yet, but if there is a problem with sun sensitivity, I will update this review. But, as of now, I am pleased with this photo eye sensor kit. The only negative was the missing parts.
