it does suck up stuff
so while I do admit the plastic is rigid cheap stuff and we had to put Teflon tape around the connection to the hose (yes , it has a rubber washer but that did not help) I got tired of it dripping on me. I do have to say this did pick up debris at the bottom of the pond. it does not uproot plants ( as we tried to use it to pick up some weeds with no luck) but small leaves that were down there were all sucked up, a few snails (live or dead) and some of the muck.it is a bit slow going as the bag fills and then the smallest particles come out and cloud the water. but if you stop as soon as it starts to cloud the cloud settles by the time you rinse the bag and get going again. when you get the bag filled, lift it out slowly so water can drain or you may snap the pole by the additional weight of water in the bag, the pole does sag when the bag is full.I did not bother to try to use the brush attachment to clean the rocks as I did think that would not do anything but break the pole.this unit does add water to your pond as you go, so clean on a day when the pond is low anyway.I tried to attach a short length of backwash hose to the outlet instead of the bag (I wanted to just vac the water out and not deal with cleaning the bag) but the water would not go up the backwash hose. so dont bother trying that.all in all, this does pick up muck, it is slow going but will get the job done. I found it best to sight out a good dirty area, then put the vac right to the dirty area and not move it too much so it can pick up all the muck.for the money, its a good way to try out a pond vac.one last thing, even the smaller 3 inch fish stayed clear of it so I will say its safe around the fish.UPDATE: 2015 we broke down and put in a real filter, cost a ton but now the pond is easy to keep clean running it just a few times per season. this vac took too much time for a large pond. with an installed filter, you just have to stir up the muck, and let the filter do its job. back wash and your good to go.

Good to pick up small items from bottom & no electrical cords
I used this in a 850 Gallon Koi pond that had filtration from the top and no bottom drain. When it is used properly(enough water hose force to disturb bottom residue to be captured) it then can pick a lot of droppings that you cannot see very well. I recall there were 2 mesh bags, I would put the second bag within the primary catch bag, or maybe the manufacturer provide various mesh sizes. One issue I had was that the bag, when getting full would fall over itself, so I used velcrov to hold the bag up. It was a quick way to do a bottom clean up vs. putting together my large electric vacuum. Thx SS

The product is excellent for the size of my pont 8'x11'. Highly recommended.
The product is plastic which is not sturdy. Is completley fuctional and do.the job.

Not Worth Trying
I decided to give it a try since it wasn't too much money and it wouldn't sting as much if it was a waste. I was able to a little bit of suction with this vacuum, but not enough to pick up much of anything. When I put the vacuum in the water, it caused all of the debris to swirl around in the water. It is sort of like trying to vacuum up dust in your room with a fan blowing it up off of the carpet and through the air. I wound up just pumping so much chlorinated water from my hose and sucking out a negligible amount of sediment. This vacuum is very awkward to use in shallower parts of the pond. I thought there may be a discharge hose with a net connected to the end of it, but instead, the net is attached directly to the vacuum right next to where the water is sucked in. If the net was not completely submerged, water sprayed all over you when vacuuming the shallow parts of the pond. In order to keep the net submerged, you needed to hold the vacuum at an awkward angle.I wound up using my 3 gallon wet/dry vac that I use to vacuum my car because the hardware store had a sale for replacement a vacuum. This vacuum took much less time even with constantly having to stop and dump the water in the vacuum every 10 seconds. I was able to suck up much more debris without having to put any chlorinated water in with my koi.

Laguna Cleaning Pond Vacuum
The product works reasonably well; however, the principal extension rod is very flexible and somewhat difficult to control. I believe it would be better if the rod were more sturdy and the head had a better angle, in order to allow the application of more pressure, when cleaning rocks. The rock cleaning aspect of the vacuum works fine, although the vacuum does not work as well as it might. You have to be very careful to keep it submerged, while vacuuming; otherwise, you get sprayed with the water pushing debris into the attached net. All-in-all, the product works well enough for my interests, principally cleaning the rocks in our pond; however, I would not recommend it as a vacuum, if you are intent upon vacuuming significant debris from your pond.

Spend a little more...
After using this equipment, I'd suggest that others spend a little more money and skip buying this. The construction is just too flimsy and the vacuum is kinda lame. On my initial use, the small vacuum bag immediately clogged with fine algae, rendering the vacuum completely useless. This might be overcome if you attached a much larger vacuum bag. I haven't tried that yet, nor do I know where I'd get something usable as a larger replacement. Anyway, the handles/poles that this thing uses are just cheap plastic and it wouldn't take much to crack them. So far, the best thing in the pack is the brush, but attaching it to a hose is useless. There's almost no 'power' to be used as a power brush...and I have excellent water pressure. The water just trickles out of the brush head. It's much more efficient to use the brush while not attached to a hose, and definitely not attached to the extension (which means you better have a semi-shallow pond, and be prepared to reach your arms into the water.).Anyway, I wish I would have put the money spent on this towards a more robust solution.

not a favorite purchase.
while the concept is good, the cheap plastic vacuum pole never screwed together properly so I tried putting a clamp on it to hold it together. The head with the net is small so it gets plugged with debris.

Pump not mains!
So I have a small pond 2.5 meters squared. I tried to clean the sludge and slime with a fine net but this just stored everything up. I looked at a lot of the pond hovers but thought that these were too powerful and expensive for such a small pond. I saw this and was a bit concerned about connecting it via a hose to the mains and introducing chemicals that could harm the fish. So instead I connected it to the pump I have, All Pond Solutions CUP-305 purchased via Amazon. The pressure from this was not as expected however it worked really well. You can't move along to fast as you end up stirring it up and although this still sucks the sludge and slime up it takes longer. I would have given this 5 stars however the o-ring on the end of the Hoselock adapter was to big and I needed to change it as the Hoselock connector wouldn't push on, however once changed it pushed on and off easily.

Not the best quality but cheap enough. Required work to get it operational.
Does the job but only just. Had to modify the end that connects to the hose as the molded connector was poorly modeled and would not mate correctly with the hose connector. Easier to buy a new screw on connector than send it back. After modification just about does the job it's "designed" to do.

There are better ways
This product works as described but the level of suction is no more than using a piece of clear plastic tubing as a siphon. I simply formed the 1inch tubing into a U shape and pour pond water into it with watering can until full on both sides then cover both ends while lowering one end into the pond and the other to lower point of pond level outside pond to drain. The suction operates well in removing sludge and you can see what is being removed. A bit more fiddly but more effective and cheaper.

Hobby use only
I suppose for the price we should not have expected too much. From the description of the product we thought it'd be OK as a starter tool to try and remove some silt from our pond. However when it arrived, it was clear the net would not have lasted more than 1-2 uses. We returned it for a full refund. On looking at it, if you have a small pond and have regularly maintained it, this might be suitable for your needs.Definitely only for hobby use, not major cleans.

Disappointed
This would be ok if the hose lock worked and it didn’t drench you. Also the suction head needs to be less wide and more movable in order to get to smaller areas. Overall I’m totally disappointed with it and feel that have just thrown £20+ down the drain. If I had damages the box opening it, I would have sent it back for a full refund. Upset with it ………😱
