Still a stuffed toy
Just keep that in mind and you won't be disappointed. But your dog will eventually work his way through this. I would have given this a 5 start rating but my 8 month old German Shepherd who I would rate as a modest chewer, worked his way through the stitching on the horns and tail in just a few hours. I don't recommend this as a "leave down" toy. But putting this BIG toy down for an hour or two every day should prolong it's life considerably and be well worth it in value. It is in fact very rugged, it's weakest points in our house has been the black border stitching. Seems like very rugged material on inspection, but Ebonwolf is able to gnaw through it a lot more easily than I would like. I have only had to clean up stuffing once so far. Yes, we lost a horn on the first day, completely deflated I should say but still there. All in all I would say a great toy. My dog, given his age, tooth size, and temperament is probably at the higher end of the destructive scale so keep that in mind.

heavy and sturdy
received just a few days ago, and was on the fence for a while about ordering because of the price. the toy is smaller than i thought it was going to be (i have an 80 pound golden) but seems sturdy. much heavier and harder than i imagined but i was pleasantly surprised that my dog seems to like it. one thing i have noticed about Tuffys toys is the black "seam" like portions around the toys are poorly made. it came with strings hanging off it even out of the box. it creates lots of loose strings hanging all around, and my guy isnt a crazy heavy chewer or anything of the sort but i did want something he could gnaw on without any worries of it not lasting. not something you can toss around the house because of the heavyness and he is still learning how to carry it around with its bulky-ness.

Tuffys ARE Tough!!
These things are THE BEST!!! We have a monster dog, part Shepherd, part Alaskan Malamute - nearly 100lbs!! He gets a new Tuffy for Christmas every year and the one from the year before usually still has some life left in it! Our dog is very good about spitting out the pieces. So, he IS able to tear through the toy and pull the polyfill out! If your dog is strong enough to rip the cordura nylon seams and eats the bits, these wouldn't be a good choice, or you would need to supervise play all the time. I only need to go around the house every night and pick up the mess! LOL! But once our guy has "disemboweled and dismembered" his victim, he proudly carries around the empty shell to show the mail man and the trash men and the neighbors!!

My boys absolutely love this!
I love watching my boys (2 Vizslas - roughly 60 - 65lbs) play with "tri-top" (our name for this toy). It's big compared to their other toys and they haven't yet destroyed it (it was one of their Christmas gifts). They don't just sit and chew it; they play tuggy with it. One of the funniest things to watch is when the boys run up and down the stairs with it. They seem to enjoy that as well, since I don't see them do it as often with their other toys. The construction of this toy is similar to the smaller ones by the same manufacturer. Their eyes are stitched, not plastic pieces and the material is thick. Now, if your dog were to sit and chew on the seams (black edging), they will eventually get through to the stuffing (as I've experienced on the smaller versions), but this size for my dogs does not encourage laying down and chewing - it's strictly for active play.

Our daughter's husky has had his Triceratops toy for 2 yrs and it still looks great! So we decided to get one for our new rescue dog. Our 1 yr old husky had it's head off in 2 days, and the body destroyed to the hind legs within 3 wks. It was great while it lasted, but is not for the worst chewers. Our pup had hours of entertainment while she gleefully ripped the innards out each day. (We'd restuff it eeach night). It's gotten so there isn't much to stuff anymore. Wish it had been tougher!

Tuffy's Triceratops
Our one-year-old Great Dane, Sadie, got this dino for her birthday, and she is rarely without it. She carries it everywhere with her, and it has quickly become her favorite toy. We love the Tuffy toys, because they are the only ones that stand up to our tough chewer. Sadie loves stuffed toys more than any other kind, but she can't have them because she destroys them so quickly. We were ecstatic when we found Tuffy. She had the T-Rex when she was really little, and it took her almost a whole year to even make one hole in it. I can't recommend these toys highly enough, especially if you have a strong chewer. I also love the chew rating system, because it makes it really easy to find the right toy for your dog. We know now that Sadie has to have an 8 or above, so we can easily look for those numbers when picking out toys.

Reviewed by my puppy
This toy is awkward, hard, large and I don't get it. But it isn't my toy, it is my puppy's so I will let her review it. Here is Myst's review:" This is my favorite toy. I drag it around everywhere. When I am in my pen, I wrestle with it and throw it around and jump on it.This goes on until I fall asleep. That takes some time since I at 5 months old I have quite a bit of energy but that just means more time to play. At night I have it in my crate and snuggle with it. I am a driven Border Collie and this keeps me entertained when I am not outside raising havoc. " There you have it ..straight from the puppy's mouth.

The Triceratops is one of my absolute favorite of the Vip Products
The Triceratops is one of my absolute favorite of the Vip Products. The toy is about as big as my Corgi/Border Collie mix but she still drags it around and figures out a way to destroy it. It usually takes her about 30 minutes to an hour to completely dismember the toy and it's incredibly fun to watch her find the weakest parts in the seams. All around a great toy for crazy chewers, although if your dog is a determined chewer they will definitely rip this to pieces. Be aware that this holds a TON of stuffing so your entire living room will look like a heavy snowfall.

Not tough enough
I have a Labrador who likes to gnaw and chew on toys so I have to find toys for aggressive chewers. This one unfortunately didn’t hold up past a day. Disappointed.

Not tough enough for a tough chewing puppy!
We bought this dinosaur as a Christmas present for our very tough chewing Golden doodle puppy, named Dude ,aged 9 months. Dude has very quickly grown attached to "Dino Dan" who has quickly become his favorite toy and they are quite inseparable.I spent much time deciding witch toy would suit his needs best . Dude has trouble making friends as we live in a rural area populated largely by sheepdogs who find him too much of a sheep look a like too be approached in a friendly manor .In this case the dinosaur is perfect. We also needed a challenge for dude ,who has made light work of our stair carpet. Dino Dan has also accomplished this (Largely due to his size.)However despite his tough exterior sustained considerable damage within the first 10 mins of being in dude care .His horns and tail have small rips in them large enough for Dude to pull out some stuffing . Luckily I am able to re-stuff Dino Dan in such cases although such easy destruction dose raise questions in my mind of the products actual toughness. Generally we are happy with the product but only because Dude loves it but if we chose to buy a tuffy toy again we would have to go for a toy of a tuff scale rating of 10 as 8 didn't cover our tough chewer.I would recomend this toy to someone with a medium dog only as it is not tough enough for a large dog.

... is only a tiny Chihuahua but he likes to like with the big toys and they keep him good
I had already purchased the giant size Tuffy Dinosaur Triceratops so thought I might as well get this small one as well particularly as my young dog is only a tiny Chihuahua but he likes to like with the big toys and they keep him good. Tuff toys are extremely well made and don't seem to rip on the seams like a lot of the cheaper toys. I suppose only time will tell but so far so good.

and throws it around like a maniac
Molly absolutely loves this, and throws it around like a maniac, even though it is almost the same size as her. Well worth the money.

A robust toy suitable for larger dog breeds
The doggo loves it and it has survived more than a week despite him trying to unpick the seams to defluff it. A really robust toy suitable for larger dog breeds.
