PestBye Jet Spray Cat Repeller This animal repeller is practical and robust, designed for outdoor use. It is a safe and effective repellent that will keep most animals, including cats and squirrels, out of your garden, automatically giving them a short spray of water when they pass in front on the motion sensor. It can also be used to keep herons away from your garden pond. The repeller should be connected to a standard garden hose and then turned on. It will not spray any water until the sensor is triggered, and so you will not waste any. Why choose this device? The ultrasonic animal repellers can sometimes affect pets such as rabbits or guinea pigs, so with this water spray repeller you can still deter the pests in your garden without having an impact on your own animals. Batteries Four 'AA' batteries will be needed to power the sensor and battery life depends on how many times the device is activated, but they typically last 3-4 months assuming 10 activations per day. Batteries aren't supplied as standard Features - Easily adjustable range of sensitivity settings - Battery powered - Range of up to 10m in a 120 degree arc - covers an area of at least 100sqm - Fires a 5 second burst of water when triggered - Resets itself after every activation Dimensions - Height 71cm (2ft 4in) - Width 20cm (8in) - Depth 7cm (2¾in) The jet spray repeller comes with both male and female hose connections; simply connect the hose to one of the connections and use the screw cap to close the other.

The hose thread on this were not designed for American ...
The hose thread on this were not designed for American who is this. Perhaps this unit was intended for a European hose. It did not work on our hoses. Perhaps someone else has had a similar experience.

Not made for USA use.
In theory, this would be great. However, the supplied fittings are not U.S. Standard and your water hose will not work in the USA.The supplied quick adaptor is too small and the threads may be metric, so the US connectors are not interchangeable. Sad, had to return for a refund. But Amazon is quick to return and refund.

Everything from the sensor up is good, everything below the sensor is garbage, but I like them..
These are cheap, they are Chinese, but they do work well..I initially delayed my comments about this sprinkler so I may test it properly.Everything from the sensor up is good, everything below the sensor is garbage and has to be changed out before using it.It's that whole spike coming down from the sensor unit, totally cheap, complete junk..I went to home depot and for about $2.00 I fixed the entire bottom half with quality parts. So here is all the really important stuff you need to know. This works really well as a deer fence, I purchased three of these at the beginning of the 2017 growing season, and now we are coming to the end of that growing season. I have lots of dear that love my back yard, it is completely protected from predictors, has about 6 acres of really yummy grass with a natural blackberry fence. The deer love it, there is protected shade, water, food, pretty much everything a deer would want.My garden is right in there and is not fenced. These motion sensor sprinklers have kept the deer out of the garden, but they still hang out in the yard. Just away from the sprinklers range. It's August now and except for the time I turned them off and forgot to turn them back on for a couple of days, I had not a single deer nibble in my garden. during the couple of days where I left them off, the deer learned they were off and helped them selves to a few things but have not since I turned them back on.Also, these sprinklers will detect any motion, tree branches, tall grass, anything.. at first I had them set to maximum and they detected cars driving on the street about 500 to 600 feet away. So I dialed them down and they stopped going off and scaring the cars away. They are not well suited for placing low to the ground, unless you have nothing down there that blows in the wind. when they are simply stuck in the ground with the spike they come with, they will detect grass and weed movement and just cycle constantly. They should be kept up higher. My deer fence is just below chest height for me (I am 6' 2") and has worked perfectly thought the growing season.I set them at every 20 feet to make a 60 foot wall. I feel that I could get away with every 25 to 35 feet apart but I haven't tried it.I ran 10 foot PVC with pipes coming up every 10 feet and used every other one for the sprinklers. it seems to work well.My garden does have a natural beerier on one side, otherwise I would have need a row on the other side as well. They should be set up for a narrow arc, just so one just overlaps the others spray range. That seems to work well. The sensors need to be kept clean or you will loose sensor resolution. They have a good battery life as long as they are not being triggered constantly, and if they do trigger constantly, look around for what might be causing it, a tall weed that is 30' away can trigger them if the sensitivity it too high.It is better to set the sensitivity lower so the animals get hit with the full force of the sprinkler as opposed to just getting some sprinkles on them from further out..So playing with the adjustments is crucial..They haven't failed me yet, I still have a garden with no physical fence around it.Proper setup is the key, and based on setup, your results may vary.

Good idea, poor execution
Sorry folks but is is junk. Good idea, poor execution. Doesn't fit a standard US hose. Leaks despite careful tightening. Has a mind of its own (the 0 "off" setting reacts constantly to wind or rain). Will be returning this unit.

Good Idea - Bad implementation
Too sensitive. A blowing bush would make this go off so even in a light breeze, it was triggering constantly.

Shower Anyone?
Sorry folks the concept is awesome the product is not. The quick release is not standard, so we went and purchased one that was. Set it up and the thing sprayed all over the place. water spraying from every connection. so we took it apart and tried using new washers and plumbers tape. Nope, we still had water spraying everywhere. Tried using Pliers and tightening all the connections as tight as we could and still had water spraying everywhere, I can honestly say we tried to make this work but unfortunately we have had to return it.

it's pretty much useless
Disappointing results; I bought this to keep cats out of the yard, it's pretty much useless. First of all, it goes off for no reason at all, a lot of the times it due to pressure changes in our house pressure, step on the garden hose, flush the toilet exc. the unit trips and goes off. So I have a nice green strip of lawn but don't think I've scared off any pests. Additionally out of the box, I had to buy addaptors to connect to the unit as it does not come with a standard garden hose connection. Why I haven't shipped this back, I'm not sure, but if you're considering buying it, keep on scrolling.

No cats were hurt in this production
The garden fouler arrived - carefully walking through the bushes to leave her calling card on my lawn. With the arrogant confidence of a zen master she eyed her spot. Watching from the kitchen window in the darkness, throat dry, and full of anticipation I waited for what I hoped would be a beautiful moment. The cat slowly and cautiously crept toward the lawn, stopped to take one more look, yes all was well.... then BAM what the #$% was that! Got you! Oh the joy! The fouler leapt with shock and ran for his life never to foul my garden again.

Eventually worked as it should
Having gone down every avenue to stop the furry monsters doing their business in my borders, I thought I'd take a dive at the pestbye cat scarer. After reading mixed reviews about the success and quality of the product, 20 quid seemed like a worthwhile gamble. So, quality at first was what I expected for the price. It's like a cheap child's toy to be honest and doesn't really feel up to the task. The instructions are quite blunt and simple and as some reviews have mentioned, it leaked at every joint giving the impression it's a faulty product. If I had the same mindset and had the time to send this back, I would, but I'm one to try and sort the problems if I can. A quick trip to a plumbers shop to buy some PTFE tape and I had taped every thread before fixing together. No leaks, I was happy and tried to find the best possible position. Don't expect this to cover a large area and don't expect this to fire a long distance. It will target a specific point in a short radius. The sensor is temperamental if placed behind plants as it will pick up branches moving about. It needs a completely clear view. After about 10 mins of adjusting the position and sensor, it was ready to go. I buried the hose under the bark in my border leading up to a splitter attached to my garden tap so I could shut the water off easily and leave another connection open if needed. I only have this on overnight as no cats enter our garden during the day because of our noisy kids. I'm pleased to report that it really does work. I'm not sure how long it will last but I hope it sees us out until the winter at least. If that's the case then I'll buy another. This item will definitely need to be taken down in the colder months as the plastic pretty much tells you itself it will crack in freezing conditions. I'm trying to be as honest and informative as possible because reviews can make you hesitate. So if you buy this, be prepared for leaks straight away. It just needs a bit of help at the joints to tighten them up a bit like PTFE tape. Any DIY store sells it. Also, the extension bar is hopeless as the pestbye just wobbles all over the place being top heavy. Just disregard it and stick to the lower spike only. I purchased a new hose from homebase which came with its own hose connectors which I used instead of the ones supplied as they are not a very good fit. So in a nutshell, it won't run spot on out the box. You will need to improve it to get it going properly. But they are very cheap improvements. Long winded review but hope it helps someone.Purchased 31st May 2019, update 25 April 2020.So, almost one year on and used every day bar a few weeks because of frost, I'm starting to have an issue. The water isn't jetting out as much as it used to. I've cleared the limescale out and given it a general clean and still the same thing. If I can't get this going again as before, I will buy another. Great value for money.Another update 6th June 2020Cat scarer still going strong. Had a blockage in the hose where the water was just sitting In the hose causing a build up of muck. Just jetted water through the hose and reconnected. This is standing the test of time. Still impressed.

No more poo, and it's great for trolling friends and family!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. What can I say other than we no longer have an issue with cats using our lawn as a latrine. Build does seem a little lightweight, but if the user isn't too heavy-handed it's a fantastic piece of kit for the price. It can be a little noisy, but no more so than any other sprinkler, and it's only a few seconds here and there. I recommend placing a large upturned flower pot over the unit's sensor when the garden is in use, in order to preserve battery life. You can turn the tap off to stop it spraying, but there's no 'off' button on the unit which means that the valves will be constantly opening and closing.Pro-tip: If you have kids around, leave them a little treat at the bottom of the garden and tell them to go fetch it while you set your phone to record

Well it is two one to me at this time
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This has worked well the cat has not been back to the pond for 3 weeks now, so moved the scarer round to the front by drilling a hole for the spike in an old stool with great success. the only downside is there is no on or off switch so if you leave the unit in front of a plant (like I did) the batteries run out very quickly if there is any wind. The cat had the last word I think with a rude gesture to me just before it jumped off the fenceBut all in all it's 20 quid well spent

Humbug but it kind of does the job.
I've had no issues with leaks - I used the appropriate connectors and all was good. For those with problems around the water not spraying with any power, I'd suggest that's down to your water supply. I had the same problem, until I opened the tap a bit more *cough* water pressure *cough*.That aside, I am on my second item. The first didn't last as the water froze and the cheap and shoddy plastic pipe shattered. If it needs lagging, then fine, say so and it can be done. However I'd expect an outdoor item to survive outdoors for more than a month, unless otherwise stated. On top of that, in order for the IR to trigger for a marauding cat, you need it turned up to around 4+. The downside is, on a sunny or windy day, it will go off every minute due to changes in light or whatever. So much so, I feel I cannot leave it operating at what I'd consider an effective level if I am out of the house - which kinda defeats the object of the purpose (or purpose of the object). All in all, not too disappointed. I have had the pleasure of watching the cat "that wouldn't ever s*** in the garden because it is not fed very much" (seriously - some people should require a licence before owning a pet) fleeing the sprayer. unfortuantely the little b*****ds do adapt, so the sprayer has to be moved around.Equally, moving the sprayer to block off their latest cat run through my garden has been most satisfying.Sending my daughter down to the bottom of the garden to empty the kitchen compost delivered equal hilarity.Just to clarify - I love cats when they're treated as pets. However I don't agree with them being booted out of the house and left to their own. That's not pet ownership (that's what people *used* to do with dogs until it became illegal and socially unacceptable). Stuff does happen, yes, but I am extremely unhappy at having other peoples pets covering my lawn in faeces, digging up my flowerbeds, killing the wildlife I am desperately trying to nurture and putting the health of my children at risk.I'll get off my soapbox now. xD
