Great for summer woods/yard work
Update 10/29/2023 - 4.5 stars and almost 3000 reviews. Mine are still in decent shape after 3 years and I'd buy another pair if I could get them in my size. Columbia needs to stay with this boot and give a few tweaks (tweaks not changes). It's got great features that few other hikers have. These boots can handle abrasion and abuse well. It runs a lttle too narrow in the toe and needs some updated colors (like maybe a light tan or something), but they are a great all round lightweight boot to wear for working in the yard or wandering around in the woods. I got these boots for lightweight summer wear. I live in woods and normally prefer an all leather option. The cloth in these boots looks and feels light a heavy canvas and and holds up well to normal abuse from yard work and moving around in brush. They don't breathe well but, I have never worried about that with boots anyway. If you working outside in warm weather your feet are going to sweat. It doesn't snag or allow sticks to get caught up and doesn't allow dust and dirt through. These aren't work boots and I don't know how durable they would be for a landscaper or someone working full time in the outdoors but, for casual use mine are holding up great. Moderately firm sole but not hard with some cushion. Other than a very tight toebox I have no complaints. I normally wear an 11 1/2 and the 12's I ended up returning for are a little snug. So size up and get wide if you have doubts. I am glad I found these and hope Columbia keeps making them. Great summer boots and probably 3 season as well. Mine have been going over a year and don't show much wear at all. For the price I wouldn't feel bad replacing them every year if I used them daily.

Not very wide
I first ordered this boot in M Width size 8. They were too narrow, so I reordered in the wide width. They fit, but there was a defect in the right boot. There was an excess of liner material in the toe box that crowded my toes. This made the boot uncomfortable, so I returned those then received this replacement pair. My complaint with these is that the rubber across the toe of the right boot is not attached straight. This is pretty noticeable as you can see in the photo that I'm posting, but not big enough of a deal for me to replace yet another pair. I have been looking for a good, comfortable pair of hiking boots, so I have tried on a lot of different boots over the past few weeks. These are by far the most comfortable AND affordable boot that I have run across. They have good cushioning insoles and an added benefit is that the insoles can actually be taken out and replaced with something else if you wish. They are light weight and have awesome tread. I think they will be a good boot. Again, I want to remind you that the width of these boots runs narrower that most others. I'm a female and I always buy wide width shoes. I've never had any issues with anything not being wide enough until I started trying on Columbia boots. I first tried different styles in the women's wide width boots and they were way too narrow. I then decided to try out some of the men's boots. That is why I originally did not order these in a wide width. I assumed they would be wide enough since they were men's. So my advice to men is if you have wide feet these probably won't be wide enough for you.

Comfortable, mid boot, warm boot, cold weather boot.
Normally I’am a size 12 but somehow my feet are getting bigger and now I’am a size 13. I had to return these boots and I bought a size 13 at the local Big 5 sporting goods who also had these boots in stock. They are warm inside, so I recommend using them in cold weather. They fit me great and are comfortable to wear. I had to replace the inside padding and got one with arch support. But after awhile my feet get tired of using them and walking on them. They are good and they offer support for hills, or mountains hill climbing.

Not too enthused about these boots
I normally buy my Columbia boots locally from Famous Footwear and spend $40 - $50 dollars more per pair. Then I get suckered into buying a second pair of shoes just because they are buy one get one 1/2 off (often claimed by my wife) . Very annoying for me and my pocket book, but kudos to them for coming up with a good marketing ploy that always keeps me spending more then I wanted to spend. Each pair normally lasts a couple years, so I really shouldn't complain about the cost. Being the typical man, I came up with the ideal that I should do whatever necessary to avoid maxing out my budget on shoes this year. I found what looked like a very nice pair of boots on Amazon, ignored all the reviews about them being sized too small, and bought them anyway because all the Columbia boots I have ever bought locally have always fit exactly as expected. Sadly, the 10 1/2 wides bought online fit like 10 regulars. I wish I would have bought a size 11 now. I will be real surprised if I don't split out the sides within 6 months to a year. Pros: Great looking shoe No obvious flaws in the stitching Soft yet firm rubber tread Awesome price Cons: Fit a bit small, both narrow and short. Padding doesn't seem near as comfortable as my Columbia Trail Meisters were. No left over room for custom insoles if they don't get more comfortable after breaking them in. To summarize, if you have a narrow foot and are willing to round up to the nearest half size, you should do well with these boots. For everyone else with wide feet like mine, you recommend you to keep looking for a different boot.

Great boot!
I loved this boot since I first put it on, no break in was needed, they felt great, I’m a size 12 and I bought size 12, but I felt it was a bit dorky looking for my office job. I was looking for a waterproof shoe because I hated getting my feet or shoes wet during the summer season in Florida. Only when I switched jobs and started to do more heavy lifting did I take these boots out of the closet. It’s helped me with my work so much! Not only did they help me with adjusting crates on a dolly but when our pneumatics shop flooded is when I put it to the test! I put my feet in the water fully submerged and water NEVER seeped through! I still have these boots but they’ve begun to fall apart after using them day in and day out. I wanted another pair but Amazon is no longer selling my size. The only bad thing about this boot is that it doesn’t allow air flow, and my feet sweat real bad, so naturally this shoe started to stink badly… I wish I could buy this very same pair regardless. I’m sad to see them go. The best boots I’ve ever owned.

Depends on planned use.
I think this product satisfaction depends on what you use these boots for. They are very comfortable to walk and hike in on flat or slight incline terrain but if you are in rough terrain such as rock scrambling or hiking mountains, they are a little too soft and lack stability. If you have a narrow foot like I do they fit well and are comfortable. I have not been in much wet terrain with mine so I can’t comment on the waterproof feature. My stitching help up hiking mountains in Colorado but look a little suspect. If you are doing some day hiking or wearing these at work, I’d say they are great. If you are planning on serious or demanding hiking, climbing, or backpacking, I’d get a sturdier boot.

Great shoe, but not wide enough!
I wear a 10.5 wide, and the width on this shoe is just too narrow. I had to check the tag just to make sure it said wide thinking I received the wrong size, but no, the tag said wide on it. Overall, this is a great hiking shoe. But if you are looking for a wide size, I would look elsewhere. At best, it is a very snug fit. That being said, I had to force my feet in. I've tried various other brands, and this one is one of the tightest fits for a wide shoe I have experienced.

Not as comfortable as my old Columbia's
I I brought these Columbia Buxton Peak MID shoes expecting it to fit as comfortable as my old Columbia shoes but they did not. I'm a 10.5 Wide and do a lot of walking for work and recreational. When I got these I went on a 7-8 mile hike (about 20,200 steps) in the mountains. They performed really well, no slip and a lot of grip. By the end of the hike my feet were killing me! I have no arch (flat feet) and the arch in these shoes were just too high for me. I'm sure they're perfect for others, just not for me. I've ordered the Columbia Newton Ridge Lightweights boots which were the original Columbia shoes I've owned in the past, those fit perfect because of my flat feet. If you have no arch or flat feet these might not be the ones for you, i would go with the Newton Ridge Lightweights. Not sure about the Newton Ridge II because they have the same soul as the Buxton Peak MID here. I'm assuming the new soul design might be the change in arch pressure. Just my guess. Hence why i went with the older Newton Rigde Lightweights soul design. Hoped this helped someone with my same problems.
