Fluval G6 Pre-Filter Cartridge

Unlike Fluval's H.O.T. Magnum filter cartridges which need chloxox soaks, high pressure water flushing with the garden hose, and subsequent de-chlorination soaks, their G-6 pre-filter cartridge is easy to clean. The bottom cap pops off so the filter can be easily flushed. The G6 comes equipped with a large "bottle brush" designed for cleaning the pre-filter. I have cleaned the pre-filter several times. It looks pretty much like new and according to the flow rate monitor, it seems to be working fine.

So I have figured out the secret to these things. I swap them every Sunday, put a good rinsing through it and then place in the dishwasher on sanitize. This cleans out all the gunk and allows the filters to be used longer. So far I am on 6 months with two filters; otherwise, the sustaining cost is literally outrageous!

I purchased a Fluval G6 filter system its the best as a pre-filter they work great. 5 starParts are getting harder to find.

The Fluval system is very nice in terms of ease of maintenance and replaceable filters. They are handy although expensive since they are replaced frequently.

I really like the Fluval G6 and these cartriges work perfect for my needs! We have this on a 90 gallon freshwater tank with some very messy and very large catfish and while I do run a FX5 as well we have been been happy using these cartriges in our G6! Would recommend!

What can I say? It works as intended and got a very good price

Very happy with this filter; using in on a 75 gal freshwater tank.I simply clean it with the (included) brush while running water from the kitchen sink on it as it sits in a tub.It takes about a dozen scrubbing cycles to get it clean;pop it back into the G6 and done for another 2 weeks.

The G6 filter says that it is suitable for Reef aquariums, but in reality, it get plugged up so fast you have to replace it every 2 weeks. That can get expensive really quick. I suspect for a fresh water aquarium, this is fine,
