Pretty full featured corded mower at a great price
There are always trade-offs when considering what sort of lawnmower is needed for a given situation. I think for a corded electric to be viable, you have to have a relatively small lawn, which mine is. Even so, I fully utilize my 100ft extension cord, and most mowers require a heavy gauge cord. 12 or 10 gauge cords are expensive and heavy, another thing to consider when deciding between corded, cordless, or gas. The cord I have weighs in around 16 pounds. I'd prefer to have the freedom of a cordless mower but, when comparing inital costs (cordless tend to be 3-5 times more expensive than this unit) and the somewhat undetermined factor of rechargeable battery managment/lifespan (IMO, rechargeable batteries rarely, if ever, live up to manufacturer claims), I was heavily leaning towards a corded model. Also, when I need to purchase a second or replacement battery, will it still be available, and how much will it cost? Corded was the way to go, for me. One final factor to consider is cord management (proper utilization of the extension cord to make your mowing patterns safer, quicker, and as hassle-free as possible), which may be a deal breaker for some. It'd be worthwhile to research the subject. You can find at least a few decent videos on Youtube. By the way, I also got my cord from Amazon, and think it's a great cord at a great price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0020YKLQW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Unboxing (it is a bit of a large, awkward box) and assembly is pretty straightforward, and the single lever height adjustment is a nice feature. I didn't feel the need to go with a deck anymore narrow than 20" and, as far as I'm concerned, the fewer passes I have to make, the better. I decided to go with the mulchng method, and was very pleased with the results. In fact, if I can avoid it, I'll never bag grass again. Even with heavy growth, the mulching left little trace of visible cut grass on my lawn. Like the manual says, always start the motor with the front end tipped up a bit, and don't overtax the mower in heavy growth spots....just slow down some and allow the motor to keep from bogging down. I also read up on this mower's replacement blades, and when it comes time to sharpen the blade, I just may choose to replace it instead, as the replacements are so affordable. It's currently just under 20 clams, and can be found here - https://www.amazon.com/Joe-MJ408E-BLD-Mower-Replacement-Blade/dp/B01IK7O8WU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1505971582&sr=8-1&keywords=mj408e+replacement+bladeAgain, getting a feel for good cord management will make using this mower much easier. If you're constantly repositioning and guiding the cord with one arm, it will be a little slower and more frustrating constantly mowing with just the other arm. It's a pretty light unit but, as anyone who's ever mowed a lawn before knows, there are ground factors involved in just how difficult it may be to push a mower around. You'd think that with a corded mower, it'd be pretty logical to have a self propelled feature as an option, but I don't recall seeing ANY corded mowers with it. I'm guessing manufacturers want to save this feature for the much more expensive cordless mowers, even though that undoubtedly shortens battery life. I also purchased the cord I have for use with my leaf blower, and when I'm done mowing, with the cord still out, I just use the leaf blower on a low setting to get any stray dirt and debris off the mower. You might think higher on the blower is quicker and easier, but I feel there's a chance you'll actually blow debris into the grills that allow the motor to breathe, and you certainly don't want that. Properly cared for, it should last for many years. No gas, fumes, or engine maintenance, and relatively quiet, all at a great price....cool green color, too.

Caveat - Husband (primary user) writing this review…
This is our 4th season using this mower and it has not disappointed! Our neighbor borrowed it during 2 season too, so it’s got extra mileage on it, and she wasn’t gentle with it. Make sure you buy at least a 15 amp extension cord, I use a 100 footer. It’s far quieter than a gas mower, and far lighter, and I don’t have to worry about old gas or smell the exhaust fumes. It has no drive assist (for safety reasons I suspect, no corded mowers do), but it’s light as a feather so that makes up for it, and it’s far more maneuverable because of that weight difference. It cuts like a champ and has never gotten bogged down and stalled in wet, Seattle grass (unlike our previous gasoline mowers). I wanted corded because our lawn is big enough that I would have needed 2 batteries to complete it, and I got the added benefit of the lighter weight without the heavy batteries (or having to buy new batteries in 5 years at 50 plus bucks a pop.HIGHLY recommend this mower for a large to mid-sized lawn. My wife hates the cord, but if you just mow in rows starting from closest to the power outlet, then work your way out, it’s a non-issue. Some feedback on complaints from people who scored it low…the safety cable on the handle has a not-top-notch securing fitting on the end which will get bent out of shape and come loose over time, then you can’t start it. Solution is a simple upgrade to the end of it using a couple bucks worth of small hardware from the fastener section at Ace or Home Depot. The foam padding on the handle is cheap too, but I wrapped it with racquet tape from Big5 and problem solved. Do yourself a favor when you get your next mower and buy this beauty! You can’t beat the price and power, and it’s absolutely solid! Best mower I’ve ever used, and I’ve been mowing lawns for almost 40 years!

Cheap manufacturing and two issues on arrival ... I will review the over all performance later.
June 19 - Looks as if Sun Joe has dropped my request without any action. The product was registered and my request was repeated with all the details of the order. You will read at least one other review that says Sun Joe does not honor it's warranty. I believe it ! I am investigating submitting this issue to the BBB.Edited June 2, ...... I removed a star from this rating because Sun Joe so far has done nothing for my issue except give my complaint a "case number". I am still without a replacement WHEEL for the mangled FRONT wheel (right in the box) and without any prospect that they will send me one, nor for that matter even care that the product arrived damaged so critically that without a temporary fix with JB Weld, I would not have been able to use it. I am including a picture of the "fix" ... not knowing how long it will last. Thanks for nothing Sun Joe !I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM SUN JOE, EVER !!!--------- original review ..............Immediately upon opening the shipping packaging I discovered a mangled right front wheel. Made surprisingly of cheap thin plastic, no rubber anywhere. Additionally a part , part #16 called out in the contents list, is missing,. It is called a Mulching Plug. There was no obvious exterior damage to the packaging box except some accordion effects on the corners, indicating that the package was either dropped or crushed. no doubt how the wheel got broken.I will call the 1-800 number in the manual then amend this review after I see how the manufacturer resolves my issues. So far I am some what disappoint in the flimsy build and marginal tracking, even of the three good wheels.I should think that one would not let this mower remain in the hot sunlight to long. I do not know, but those plastic wheels look very susceptible to heat warping too. Well, they won't rust eh ?When I amend my review later I will speak further on these matters.............................................................................................................................................................................................................Day 3 -After watching a video review of an unboxing, I found the Mulching Plug. item #16, right where they said it should be from the video unboxing. Yesterday I applied J.B. Weld around the broken wheel hub in hopes it will get me mowing. Nevertheless I want a new wheel as I do not know how long the weld will last.I also now have a case number with Sun Joe and am awaiting their resolution. Here is the text of their chat reply, notice the que number. I could not wait that long and left my email address:"Customer ServiceHi! Thanks for reaching out to Snow Joe. Easy Assembly
I bought this mower after much research, the same mower was $ 464.99 at Home Depot so it was amazingly priced. it was so easy to assemble, no tools required. I am a women and I hate, hate, hate gas mowers. Having to buy the gas and oil and maintenance yuck. I bought a rechargeable mower about 4 years ago and the battery died after about 2 years and to replace just the battery would cost more then buying a new mower. Yes you have to drag a cord around but you never have to worry about gas or mess. You plug in you turn on a go. The grass bag is a good size. I have only used 4 times but so far so good. I recommend highly.

Broke after a single use...
The wheel bracket is tack-welded onto the frame with 2 measly small tacks. After having read a review that said the wheel fell off, I did not expect to experience the same misfortune. However, lo-and-hehold, during the FIRST time I used it, the right wheel bracket completely failed and fell off. Since it was a welded piece, I could not fix it myself and did not want to bring it to a machine shop to weld. I returned it immediately. Can't comment on the functionality much, as it worked fine before the wheel broke.
