Ironing is now actually a pleasure
We ordered this iron after the GE Iron he had taken everywhere with him while in the service before we married and we had used since finally started choking. I wanted something with a little more weight and more steam so ironing his heavy work shirts would be easier. Wow this iron was the one. I actually can enjoy ironing now and I actually can do more in less time.It delievers a good amount of steam for stubborn wrinkles and glides over fabric with ease.It is heavier than the irons I have used. The weight reminds me more of the iron I used to use when I lived at home 20+ yrs ago (minus the scarey fabric covered cord and scorch marks LOL). It also shuts off automatically when left standing for a certain amount of time and I love that it heats up so quickly.I do have to put water in it pretty frequently even with the large reservoir, but that is minor to me. There is some water splatter but then it is not that much and I have seen it far worse with more expensive irons. I am hoping this iron lasts for a good long time because I love the way it performs!!!!

Great for a Little While
This particular Effective by Rowenta was my third Rowenta iron purchase in five years. I love how the Rowenta irons: fabulous steam, lots of pressure when you press the steam button, stainless steel soleplate that is silky and heavy (takes less time to press, the heavier the iron). Lots of good things to say about the Rowenta in use.Except one thing: for my use (2-3 times a week), a Rowenta iron just doesn't last. Three $60-ish irons in five years? You get NO inclination that it's going on the fritz, except, one time, you'll need to iron something, you'll plug it in, and it won't heat up.I treat my irons with great respect, as these babies cost double what a cheapie iron costs. But today was the last straw. No more Rowenta irons for me. I'm going with a cheapie with a great rating. Looks like a Panasonic for me.

DON'T BUY (made in China)
Purchased this iron after I dropped my wife's old Rowenta and broke the handle. It constantly leaves brown spots on the steam setting. Doesn't matter what kind of water is used, or ANYTHING else their web site says. Took it apart, cleaned the "innerds", etc. STILL leaves nasty brown water spots on the clothes. Don't even think about using the "shot of steam" setting. Then I happen to notice that this particular iron was made in China. Yes, China, not Germany. Have a good friend who has a Phd in materials engineering and he stated that it is the "cheap" metal used in the water tank. It reacts to the water and leaves spots. AND I DON'T CARE WHAT KIND OF WATER YOU USE. Nothing you could do about it, except to use it as a dry iron he said. Have checked other Rowenta models and found the "made in Germany" decal on them, but this particular model that I got had "made in China". A nice "made in China" decal was stamped on the bottom. Junk.Never thought that this fine company would prositute its name for the junk produced in China, but it did. I threw it away after my wife ruined an expensive blouse. BEWARE, and don't say you were not warned if you purchase one.

Awesome Iron
Wow nice iron so far. No issues what so ever! I am glad I purchased this iron. My Parents have been using Rowenta iron since I was a kid. I quickly went and purchased one for myself. Looking at all the other reviews I am lil amazed. Personally I feel this is a very effective iron. I purchased Black and Decker and then Panasonic. Both were not even a close match to effectivness of the iron. I returned both quickly. I have left this iron on accidentally a couple of times all day and after returning from work realized its still on. Best thing is nothing it went into a sleep mode.My two cents: its been very effective and reliable for me :)

WRONG PRODUCT COLOR
The photo of the iron's color appears to be PINK. That is the reason I ordered it for a friend who is a cancer survivor; however, she received a white iron instead. The customer service person I spoke to regarding the issue agreed with me and promptly sent out another duplicate iron because she also thought it was pink as well. Obviously, we had to return one of the irons. Luckily my friend likes the Rowenta iron very much even though it is not pink. The photo needs to be replaced. It became a bit of a hussle for all of us, since it was not represented correctly.

Love-Hate This Iron
This is the third Rowenta Effective Iron I buy. The first one lasted all of 20 months. I loved the way it ironed and hated to be without it, so thinking I must have hit a lemon I bought a replacement. The second one didn't even make it 15 months. When it works, this iron is the best iron I have ever used. It is light weight and makes ironing a dream. The down side is the cheap auto shut off has a very short working life. First it gets finicky and then before you know it, it goes belly up, never to work again.Though I feel I'm being ripped off, I cannot conceive of having to iron with anything else so I am forced to buy yet another one. As they say third times the charm, so my fingers as crossed.August 14, 2014 UpdateThird time is apparently the charm. 4 years and counting and it is still working like it did when it was new.

My first Rowenta........ummm......
This is my first Rowenta iron & I feel as if I sat through a bad movie that had a sexy preview. Doesn't seem to offer as much steam as the description would have you believe. Weight is nice, glide bottom is fine, but that stupid auto-off feature needs to go. When I saw Made in China on the bottom, I started to wonder if this was the Germans trying to be funny. Gonna try the next model up to see if there's something to be gained. In short, this is no better than a $15 iron from your grocery store. $20 says the Salvation Army has something better for sale. Where's Grandma's iron when you need the right tool for the job?
