hello do I need to update the bios to run an i5 3350p??

It should work out of the box. I have a Celeron G1610 which is an Ivy Bridge CPU and there was no need to update the BIOS.

What kind of graphics card would be compatible with this motherboard for serious gaming?

I would go with the hd 7770 + the intel pentium if you want to save money and get decent gameplay (medium to low settings at 1080p) if you want serious gaming get the hd 7950 with the i5 (any model) to play games at max settings. if you want max settings for all games get the gtx 680 with i5 or higher. imo videogames are a waste of time; focus on academics
