Simply the best Control book I have ever had!
I am a practicing GNC Engineer (MSc. in EE) and this book is the most thorough and practical Control book that I have on my bookshelf (I have 10 books in Control including Skogestad&Postlethwaite MIMO book; Franklin&Powell; Yaniv Oded; Horowitz; Chen, Garnell, Lewis ...).The book starts with standard SISO feedback issues before moving on to MIMO. It presents practical design techniques for Non Minimal phase and unstable plants (using coprime factorization and more). Most Control books usually gloss over Non Minimal phase plants but this one dwells on the topic and talks about trade-off and inherent limitations imposed by such plants.The coverage of plants with uncertain parameters (Robust Control) is excellent and the book gives you a great opportunity to learn and evaluate QFT and H-infinite design methods.The theory is excellent but not overwhelming and the author did a terrific job balancing theory and practice. Throughout the text, the author gave away practical design tricks.This book is a gem and is worth every penny! I gave it the maximum 5 stars but it deserves 10!!!

This book is the best in robust control. Is a classic. The book gives a solid foundation in the analysis and design of robust control systems using the QFT and H infinity techniques.

Excellent book for QFT & H-infinity
I read the book "Essentials of Robust Control" by Kemin Zhou for studying linear robust control.The book is well written and good reference book for anyone who want to grasp every aspect of linear robust control.But I sensed that this book lacks the practical aspect regarding designing the robust controller."The design of robust control systems" by Sidi is a good "practical" and in-depth "theoretical" book which compensates the Zhou's book.Especially QFT and H-infinity TDOF uncertain system controller design is excellent!! You will have no where to find these kind of practical design aspects and tips.The book closely connect SISO design to MIMO design. and certain system to uncertain system. I bet the aforward mentioned two book will serve a good reference to you who want to design a linear robust controller.It deserve five stars plus!!

Good integration of loop-shaping for QFT and H-inf
A good book for synthesizing LTI feedback systems. The loop-shaping from the QFT and H-inf perspectives are integrated well. A good part of Ch. 3 reviews the unparalleled insight into loop-shaping that Horowitz has provided in his 1963 book but in a more "transparent" way. The advantages and disadvantages of QFT and H-inf are indicated clearly in Ch. 4. A often ignored presentation of feedback systems with internal variables for feedback to reduce sensor noise is in Ch. 5, which is one of the most serious challenges for synthesizing practical feedback systems.One great benefit of this book is that it also provides a broad viewpoint to feedback techniques such as internal stability and results based on extending SISO to MIMO frequency-domain method (generalized Nyquist criterion in terms of characteristic transfer functions is one such result). So I feel this book can be even possible for freshmen in feedback control.As for the MIMO feedback systems, it seems that the author prefers the philosophy of H-inf, although the insight into QFT is claimed to be essential to come up with a practical H-inf controller. Indeed, such a preference is due to open question-marks in MIMO feedback systems and depends on an author's practical experience and research interest. For those readers interested in MIMO QFT, I feel this book is not exhaustive while Oded Yaniv's book (1999) is a better choice.
