This is an amazing wifi access point, especially for the price.
It's fast, it's reliable, it was not difficult to set up. It can do lots of things, but I just use it as an AP with zero problems since I plugged it in.Strongly recommend.

Just did not work consistently in WISP mode.
I could not get this device to work consistently in the way I wanted to use it. I wanted to use it as WISP client. It seem to drop the wireless radio on the output channel to my streaming devices every so often. This lead to a bad streaming affect. The menus and setup is hard to follow.I only tried to use this the router in WISP mode so it maybe fine for other modes of operation.

A nightmare to install.
I spent at least 2 hours trying to get it to access the wizard...no luck. It came with a disk but the disk just has the manual on it. Why not give a disk with the setup wizard so a simple click could do the job. No, no, that makes too much sense. Instead everything they tell you in the manual does not work. I finally got it installed by following what a Amazon user said to do. What a nightmare!

Trouble at first, then average performance.
I bought this primarily to use as a low cost AC bridge for my audio/video components. Setup in bridge mode was anything but easy. Yes, the clicking on buttons in the setup was easy, but it just would not connect to my Netgear AC1750 router. It kept telling me it was unable to obtain an IP address and wanted me to enter the settings manually. I tried resetting a couple of times, power cycled a few times and even fiddled with the hardware switch on the back...nothing seemed to work. I was just about ready to pack it back up and return it when, with one LAST try of the setup (about my 10th try) it magically obtained the settings and started working. I have no idea what I did, other than to threaten to send it back...maybe it heard me.Once it was set up, it worked fine. I set it to only receive in 5ghz/AC mode to get the full bandwidth of the AC. Much to my dismay, the speed at which it provided was not any better than the wireless G or N that I could obtain on my various devices (Xbox, Dish receiver, blu-ray and a test with my laptop)...the only improvement I saw was in the overall signal strength.I am not a networking guru, but I know my way around technology and computers...that being said, maybe I am missing a step or didn't set something up properly; I have no way of knowing (perhaps some comments can provide some tips). Nevertheless, whether it is user error or poor quality, it certainly isn't plug-and-play.It was inexpensive, as AC devices with bridge capability go, so I will probably hang on to it because I am too lazy to box it back up and pay to ship it back. Also, it will be nice to have around in case I need to connect a device that doesn't have wireless. Even with it's low price and potential utility, knowing what I know now, I probably wouldn't have made the purchase.

Nice Unit, Setup....Not so Much!
The Good: Looks nice, is very good quality product. Have use Edimax items many times and all are usually very good. I like the dual band its great too have choices. I bought this for my garage and too extend our internet service to our back yard. I used a WiFi Analyzer app on my Android and it showed me in the green for the 100 ft or so that I tested. The interface, once the unit is setup, is very adequate and has all the required setting options. The unit works very well once it is set-up. Great buy for a AC Access Point under $50.The Bad: Setup was a nightmare, took me over two hours to get this thing configured. I'm an IT professional and have setup hundreds of access points and other network hardware and I have to say the setup guide was not very helpful. It was very vague on how to set up the unit. I would not recommend this unit for ta beginner because they will most definitely be lost when installing. The unit comes with a wireless setup wizard which is very glitchy and works parasitically. the buttons on the windows form only work when they feel like it. I used a brand new Samsung android tablet and a brand new Lenovo Yoga Laptop to get this unit configured and played hell getting it to work. IN the end I got my old rusty but trusty Dell Inspirion R17 out and plugged in the RJ45 patch cable directly from the AP to the laptop and then it let me run the wizard thru without issue. I would just skip trying to use the Wireless to do setup and connect with a cable, this will save you a big headache. I only gave 4 stars because of the horrific setup experience I had. If you do decide on this unit, bring some aspirin, Good Luck!

Very Happy with this purchase
Had this for a week and our wireless connection is amazing compared to the unit it replaced, which had gotten to the point of needing to be reset several times a day and even then would not always work.Installation was fairly painless, but did take two tries, as the first time through the setup it did not complete the "Save Settings and reboot". First setup was using my Kindle Fire, and 2nd time was using my phone, so the browser in use may have been at fault for the first try. (Kindle browser is Silk, and I really don't know much about its limitations, so I can't fully comment on that)I can actually download updates on my Kindle and my phone now without constant "download failed" or "no connection" messages and having the 5 GHz band for streaming and the 2.4 GHz for our other devices seems to have really made a difference.I'll update later on once I see how the long term performance is.
