For USB3.0 portable Blu-ray drive with BDXL writing [Logitec USB bus-powered] Black LBD-PME6U3LBK [Frustration-Free Packaging (FFP)]

I needed to set up my  entertainment PC  with an external Blu-ray player because the player we typically use was having issues reading one of the newer blu ray rentals. Afterward I decided to just leave it there and get another external Blu-ray format Read/Write drive. The  Rosewill model  was adequate, but was temperamental in the way it worked with my MS Surface Pro (it of the single USB 3.0 port) and the micro B end of the data cable never stayed put which interfered with playback of movies.This product is essentially an unkown brand in the US market that plays off the Logitech name, or a generic version of a well known manufacturer I do not recognize. The reason for the five star rating is it succeeds out of the box against the most important criteria of all. It works. Well. The product also happens to be $40 less than the closest competing USB 3.0 unit with Blu-ray Read/Write and BDXL support.Pros:- One USB port required. There is no Y cable packed in, and the device powered up just fine with Blu-ray playback and recording. As the owner of a Surface Pro with one USB port this was significant.- Plug n' Play with Windows 8.1. The device operated with no problem playing my standard test Blu-ray and the disc that was giving my other drives issues. My copy protected Blu-rays are played using software decoding, so it is possible that the rental disc played right away because it had been previously loaded into the  software .- The micro B end of the cable had a firm connection to the player. It snapped in an stayed put.- The device is relatively quiet during playback, and when burning a disc is only slightly louder- The drive is very light. I actually thought it might be an empty shell with no "guts" it was so light right out of the box.- There is a cutout on the bottom of the drive enclosure which has enough room to store most of the cable. There is a cutout on the back right corner where the cable can feed through. I think the device is designed for the USB end connecting to the computer or hub to wrap and tuck in while the micro B end is still connected to the back of the drive, but for now I leave that end loose when putting the drive into a computer bag.Cons:- Possibly the cable length if you are looking to sit the drive more than a foot away from the computer- The directions included are not in English or any language other than what appears to be Japanese. One the device itself the logos are in English, there is limited English on the software disc, and there is a manufacturing label in English which reads "Made in China".- Feels a little on the flimsy side, but at least part of the case is metal so it may hold up fine. I am going to travel with it as usual and see what happens.The cable is not that long, about a foot including the plugs, but for a laptop or tablet device it works since the cable is flexible. It has a smaller total footprint than the drive it replaced since the connections are firm enough to bend the cable further by placing the drive directly next to the computer. I played a couple of Blu-ray discs, burned a CD-R into a music CD, and wrote about 100MB of mp3s onto a  25GB BD-R  as a test with no issues. So far this product has proved to be a good low cost option for a USB 3.0 Blu-ray Read/Write external drive.

Meets expectations. the unit arrived in good shape.And the unit arrivedin good time there is not much more to say

Works great for travel or just to have an external drive for you computer. I have a MacBook Pro and this works great with it. You will have to setup your mac to watch blu-ray discs, but it is pretty simple and should be easier in future MacOS updates. There are many videos on Youtube where you can learn step-by-step how to setup for blu-ray movies

Works flawlessly with my HP Envy i7Core laptop. Setup was easy, works as it should, its speed it very good. I was hesitant to buy due to it shipping from Japan but it turned out great. Not much in the way of documentation but I didn't need any. It was a good choice especially given the lack of options I found in the type of equipment.

This was definitely NOT plug and play. The only options my Surface Pro 3.0, Windows 8.1 gave me were "upload to Dropbox" or "take no action" when inserting a DVD movie. If it can't play a DVD it is not going to play a Blu-Ray!I did insert a software DVD to make sure I could access files and install from disc. I would have been much better off purchasing a cheaper DVD only drive.

Has been error-free, reliable, fast & quiet. Can't ask for anything more.

This is a great drive. Very slim and it burns and reads DVDs and Blu-ray discs very well.

BD レコーダや PS3,BD-R/RE ドライブ搭載の PC は既にある状況なのでポータブル CD/DVD ドライブ＆DiXiM BD BURNER 2013 と組み合わせての DTCP-IP Move を目的として購入しました。(なので、BD 再生については全く確認していません)本製品は、ドライブベンダが TSST SN-506AB と PIONEER BDR-TD05 の二種で生産されているようで、シリアルナンバー末尾が英字になっているものが BDR-T05,数字のものが TSST SN-506AB のようです(自分が Amazon で購入したものは BDR-T05 でした)。何故ドライブベンダの違いに触れたかというと、DiXiM BD BURNER 2013 で nasne から DTCP-IP Move を行う為には、SN-506AB 搭載の場合には、Logitec の Web サイトからファームウェアアップデータをダウンロードして、Ver.GT01 以上にする必要があり注意が必要なためです(BDR-T05 の場合は必要ありません)。自分の手持ち環境の Mac Mini(late2012,BootCamp)/自作機で の Windows7 64bit で USB3.0 接続にて、DiXiM BD BURNER 2013+nasne での DTCP-IP Move によるダビングそのものは問題ありませんでしたが、Windows からセッションクローズを行おうとしても何も変化がなく、BD レコーダ(SONY BDZ-AT970T)側で "BD クローズ"操作を行ってセッションクローズさせました。…と書きましたが、DiXiM BD BURNER 2013 と組み合わせて使うならば、Web 専売商品ですが DiXiM BD BURNER 2013 とセットで ¥9800 で販売されている LBD-PMF6U3HBKW を購入するのがコストも安いですし手っ取り早いです(笑)。(自分の場合は手持ちの他の BD-R/RE ドライブでも使うつもりだったのでソフト単品で購入しています)

２０１３年に購入したがまもなく故障、２０１５年に再度購入したが故障し、使用できなくなった。このメーカーのものは故障し易いようです。今般は、他メーカーのものを手配しました。

Broadwatch　ACアダプター（DC5V/2A）[PSE対応]外径4.0φ(内径1.7φ)、センタープラス＿とセットで購入してみました。(各自の自己責任の上で)アダプタを接続すれば、PCの電源Offでもイジェクト可能。本機は電源スイッチが無いので、PCに接続放置すれば無駄な電力を消費するんでしょうね。自分の場合、ノートPCにてPCクーラーや常用デバイス等周辺機器でバスパワーを常に消費するので、余裕を考えアダプタを購入。上記の他社製アダプタの利用については、接続プラグ部分の長さが余る程ですが、今のところ問題なし。本機については、自分の製品の中身はパイオニア製でした。　(　※　プロパティの表記は、PIONEER BD-RW BDR-TD05 USB Device　)こちらのユーザーレビューを参考にして、付属のUSB3.0コードに不良品の懸念があるらしく、念の為、エレコム USB3.0ケーブル(A-microB)/1.0m/ブラック を別途に購入して使ってます。付属USB3.0コードは未使用です。DATAディスクの読み書き専用として使ってます。Win'XP環境とWin'7環境にて、DATAの読み書きのみであれば、付属のライティングソフトだけで型遅れの低スペックPCでも問題無く利用できてます。自分の環境では、ドライブの認識が[ BDドライブ ]とは表示されませんが、利用説明の注意点さえ一読しとけば利用上は問題無いです。　(　※　2014.12.27現在、最近のWin'7定期更新の影響なのか、いつの間にか　(例)＿BD-RE ドライブ (E:)　と認識されるように変化してました。ウィンドウズ7環境の場合です。　)付属ライティングソフトで書き込んだDATAは、1ファイル単位で削除・追記可能で便利。自分の環境では、処理したいDATAファイルの形式や、内容のフォルダツリー構造などや、その都度の処理内容によって、ＢＤ一枚当りの処理時間は様々です。ＵＳＢ２．０環境にて２２GB相当を書き込む時間としては、１GB単位程度のアーカイブDATAを容量分書き込んだ場合、早ければ二時間ほどで完了します。場合によっては、三時間以上を要すこともあります。付属ライティングソフトを使って書き込んだＤＡＴＡディスクは、後でファイルのリネームや新規フォルダの作成、書き込んだ内容のツリー構造の変更などがしたい場合、ウィンドウズのファイルシステム上では一切変更できません。ライティングソフトが必要になります。また、付属のライティングソフトを使わず、ウィンドウズ７のファイルシステム上でDATAを書き込んだ場合のUSB2.0環境での処理速度は、だいたい1.3MB/秒から1.6MB/秒程度(最速値=1.9MB/秒くらい)で、22GBほどのDATAを書き込むには四時間から六時間程度、もしくはそれ以上です。この利用法なら1ファイル単位で追記・削除や、新規フォルダ作成・リネーム・移動などはライティングソフト無用で可能です。時間はかかりますけどライティングソフト無用でDATA共有などの利便性は高いので、多用してます。BDは大容量で重宝します。(BD一枚辺りのDATA容量は22.5GBです)(フォーマット：UDF)本機は、いくつかのノートＰＣ販売時のオプションメニューで用意されている内蔵型ＢＤドライブとして普及している製品です。信頼性には問題ないでしょう。駆動音も標準的だと思います。購入から１年経過しましたが、正常稼働中です。問題なく使える限りは、コストと性能のバランスに納得してます。因みに、BDメディアは、【Amazon.co.jp限定】TDK 録画用ブルーレイディスク BD-RE 繰り返し録画用 25GB 1-2倍速 フレームライン/タイトルライン付きディスク 20枚スピンドル ATBEV-25FLA20PZ　> 直近価格：￥ 1,523 通常配送無料＿を購入して使ってます。TDK 録画用ブルーレイディスク BD-RE 25GB 1-2倍速 ホワイトワイドプリンタブル 20枚スピンドル BEV25PWA20PA　>直近価格： ￥ 1,436 通常配送無料＿も問題なく使えます。

一度使用数ヶ月で壊れたので、-1以後は、結構ハードな使い方でも耐えてくれています。（2014/9購入）USBケーブルが２５センチくらしかないので、少々不便な点もありますので -1

写真等のバックアップがメインであれば、ノートPCに工学ドライブが不要となるため、ノートPCの選択肢が広がります。
