MG 1/100 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 1.5 Katsumi Kawaguchi Limited Edition by Bandai

Beginning in 1995, Katsumi Kawaguchi was responsible for leading the design of the now ubiquitous Master Grade series, the highly detailed 1/100 scale Gundam kits that retail at a much more affordable price than a Perfect Grade. He is revered as perhaps the most famous and significant figure in the world of Gundam models. The Bandai Pro-Shop issued several limited edition Katsumi Kawaguchi kits based on his personal designs which went out of production quickly. This model is the original RX-78-2 in the color scheme of black, yellow, red, and white with some gray detailing and unique decals. The inner frame of this Ver. 1.5 is also molded in two-tone colors which cannot be found on any other model. The shoulders and shield come with some very stylish markings that aren't seen on RX-78s. Since these designs were such a limited run, they can be fairly difficult to find at decent prices, but if you're looking for a piece of Gundam model history, you can't go wrong with a Katsumi Kawaguchi Pro Shop kit - also keep your eyes peeled for his Zaku II 2.0 and Ball Factory Image Color models, they are just as rare and coveted as this one!
