Minn Kota EM 55 Engine Mounted Trolling Motor

Install was somewhat easy on my 150 horse Yamaha 2 cycle. Works decent when the wave action is low. But over a few feet waves it comes out and chops water. 4 to 5 ft it chops alot, as long as you go with the waves it's decent. 36 volt only lasted us 6 hrs at 1/2 speed with hvy duty Die Hards 29, lost thrust afterwards. Got a Grady-White 192 Tournament open bow so we really couldn't readily install a 6ft bow mount, takes forward seats away, so this was our next best option.

Only lasted just over 11 months and seized up. Doing research I found this is a common problem due to poor seals around the prop shaft which leads to corrosion. Up until it quit it worked great! Hopefully they warranty the issue.

Overall I am satisfied with this product. I have an 18 foot open bow runabout that we mainly use for tubing and floating with the kids. However, I did want the ability to troll so we could fish, access lakes that were electric-only, and to have a "backup" plan in case the engine quit on us. However, I didn't want to mess with having to build a special mount for a bow-mounted TM, and I didn't want something that was going to get in the way of using the bow for sitting, and the kids jumping off. So I chose an engine mount over a bow mount TM. I am pleased with it. It does move the boat, maybe slighly underpowered, but the step up for another $300 was certainly not worth it, plus having to buy another battery just doesn't make sense. I haven't noticed any change in performance of my boat, as others have. Installation was very easy. My only complaint is that reverse doesn't work at all. It stops the boat, but doesn't make it go backwards. Given the overall positives, though, I am happy with my purchase, and don't regret it at all. For me and my family, and the way we boat, this does the trick!

The motor works great until the seals fail and it fills with water. Warranty repair covers the cost, except for the 100 mile drive to the authorized technician, but I am not looking forward to the expiration of the warranty.

Great product easy install and works great on a 16ft four winns bow rider with inboard/outboard engine. Reverse takes a second to dig in but it can pull the boat backwards againts 5-10 mph winds. Makes it easy to keep the boat on beds too!

Installed it on my 115 motor, turn it on and steer your boat with your boat steering wheel. No holes to drill into the frame of your boat.

Good prop, works as advertised.

The motor has a lot of drag, I lost about 8mph & some mpg. The motor done not ride out of the water as claimed. The boat will not turn a low speeds. If I could I would return it.

This unit works great. Pushes my 17.5 foot fiberglass bow rider with no problem. Going in reverse is very slow as it pushes the water against the transom. Would I buy this again, you bet I would.

The motor works very well but it drains the battery pretty fast
