I own Tetris Ultimate, Tetris DS, and Tetris 99 for Switch
This is my favorite Marathon (level 1-15) experience. It has Master mode (tetriminos drop at max speed from get go, option for endless) and Sprint (clear 40 lines as fast as possible) and a few other puzzle modes that I haven't tried, but could interest some. It has ghost piece options.P.S. I enjoy the music from Tetris DS the most.

The Classic Puzzler
There is no doubt that it has been twenty years since Tetris made its debut as a video game. Ever since it came out in the mid 80's, it really became one of the most distinctive and addictive video games of all time. Not just in gameplay, but really in fun. Hard to believe that there have been so many renditions of Tetris over the years, and it has never changed all this time. But with so many other puzzle games being more popular in this day of age like the distinctive Bejeweled and Zuma games, Tetris has been so often forgotten about as a classic game that has been worth while. But being the classic launch game Nintendo unveiled with the original Game Boy, it has never lost its style. But with Nintendo focusing on the Nintendo DS, many have wondered if it was forgotten about. Well with the Nintendo 3DS, it has never lost its style, with a few challenges to it.Tetris: Axis for the Nintendo 3DS brings in all the classic fun that made Tetris fun in the first place to a whole new generation of gamers. It includes over 20 games that are for both solo play, and multiplayer action. Some of the multiplayer action though needs a bit of work and can lose a bit of the fun that the classic gameplay has shown to shine with over the years. Graphically, the game looks amazing, while the control is very simple and just as easy to play just like the original Tetris. The minigames though range from classics like Marathon (original Tetris) to Bomb Bliss which takes the elements of Tetris 2 from the N.E.S. days where you have bombs that can help you make Tetris explosive, to lesser-known and not as challenging games like Stage Racer and Tower Climber. The other fault is the lackluster multiplayer action, where there isn't enough of a challenge for playing against others online. It can be dragged down here, compared to the solo play. The solo play is still fun, but more should've been made to drive it for die hard puzzlers that've stood by Tetris over twenty years. All in all, despite a few flaws, Tetris: Axis still remains a good buy for the Nintendo 3DS. While there could've been more to challenge against others either online, or playing against friends at home, it still handles well in fun for any gamer young and old. If you have a Nintendo 3DS, I recommend this for fun and addictive gameplay, but also because there have been few games that showed to be worth their while for the Nintendo 3DS, since the system came out last year. If you have played Tetris before, than this axis might not tilt you the wrong way in falling blocks. Even if you haven't yet played a puzzle game before, Tetris is definitely the first game to go to, when it has came down to the addictive puzzler.Graphics: BSound: B-Control: BFun & Enjoyment: B- for solo play; C+ for multiplayerOverall: B-

Terrible 'hard drop' feature that can't be disabled
There is a terrible 'hard drop' option that you CANNOT DISABLE. If it thinks you are hitting 'up' on the DPAD the piece will immediately fall all the way and lock into the bottom. It is a TERRIBLE feature - frequently when you are moving left and right quickly, especially in the levels after 9, the increased movement speed on the dpad causes up to be registered and the piece falls instantly and really can screw you over. It is an incredibly frustrating 'feature' that I have no idea why they don't allow you to disable. Debating returning the game, it completely ruins it.

Classic Handheld Tetris with new modes
Tetris is perfect for handhelds; from the original GameBoy pack-in to Tetris DS. This is a great game for short games on a bus or train to longer sittings on the couch. Tetris is a classic so there isn't much point going through the detail of the game. There are three main modes: Marathon, VS. CPU and Online. In addition to these modes there are also puzzle games, AR games and challenges. This really is a great buy for the 3DS, unless you have Tetris DS. Tetris DS has a lot more appeal with the fusion of tetris and Nintendo games, characters and music. The DS version is hard to come by so if you're looking for a tetris game, Axis is what you want. How does this compare to the iOS version? Having controls that you can feel and touch means you don't have to worry about where your hands are. There is no comparison and the price for Axis is well worth it.
