Solid, easy to use, and does the job!
Fantastic marking gauge. I tried the cheaper models and they always seemed to have something wrong. Like the one that was bent or the one where the screw extended past the cutting wheel. Those always felt flimsy and weak. This one has heft to it. It feels solid and good in the hand. Plus, it does a really good job.Love this and wish I would have just bought this from the get go, and saved myself some time. One note, if you're left-handed the marking gauge will give you some fits as it has a tendency to unscrew. Get some removable locktite and add it to the screws.

Quality Piece Improves Layouts; Measurement Markings Hard to See
This is one sturdy and classy-looking wheel marking gauge and it has markedly improved my layouts on carving blanks. I admire the combination of good quality steel rod and cutting wheel, brass moving parts and the walnut finger grip. The gauge set knob stays set when adjusted and the brass guide face is large enough in diameter to track true down the edge of a blank. On the downside, the threaded round brass piece behind the walnut hold keeps wanting to back out of the walnut. The inches and metric markings on the measuring rod are cut into the steel but there is no contrasting color to make the markings stand out. It takes just the right light and angle for me to see and to read them.

Balanced in the hand and does its job
It seems really nice in the hand, nice and stout like you expect something of its size to be. I'm not going to bother complaining about needing to sharpen up the cutter, that's a pretty simple process. I've had no problems whatsoever with mine. Works great!

This is a really nice marking gauge
This is a really nice marking gauge. I've used similar (less expensive) gauges from igauge and rockler and though they will get the job done the woodriver gauge is far superior. it has a nice heft to it and fits comfortably in my hand. the micro adjuster is a definite plus. And being able to easily get replacement blades seals the deal for me. well worth the extra money.

Nice tool but the markings very hard to see.
Nice tool. This gauge seems very well made. I tested it as soon as I got it. I has nice weight and makes a good line for marking my cuts. I wish the markings were easier to see. Even with my magnifying visor it's hard to see the markings. Bright light seems to make the markings even harder to see. The etching doesn't seem to be deep enough to darken it with black lacquer or a sharpie. Overall I'm still very happy to have this tool and it will get used frequently. If anyone has any ideas how to make the markings easier to see, please feel free to comment.

Clean, sharp cut lines
I like almost everything about this WR wheel marking gauge.1. The cutter wheel is indeed sharp. It marks a nice line with severed wood fibers. Definitely an improvement over some of my older marking gauges that use a pinpoint tip to scrape the wood surface.2. Really nice heft in the hand, and nicely balanced.3. The inscribed depths on the shaft are reasonably easy to use. They are helpful for resetting to a previous depth, though not as repeatable as measuring against the wood itself. Scales in both Imperial and Metric.4. The brass base is large enough to register solidly on the reference surface of a board, slide smoothly, and stay square while sliding.5. The knurled adjusting knob is a decent size, easy to tighten and loosen.6. When fully retracted the sharp edge of the cutting wheel is protected in a shallow recess within the brass base.7. Works fine left-handed and right-handed.Quibbles, or what was not quite perfect:1. Several times the knurled knob loosened while in use. Interestingly, as long as I was holding the tool properly, the shaft stayed in place despite the loose knob. I adapted my handhold to protect the knob.2. The round shape of the brass base would stay put on the workbench better if there were at least one straight side, as with the Rob Cosman marking gauges. That said, the knurled knob sticks out far enough to usually keep the tool close to where I put it down. But these are quibbles. This is still a 5-star tool in my workshop. Glad I have it.

Woodriver Quality
Woodriver has an excellent reputation for quality and this marking gauge did not disappoint. I have had mine for several months now and am completely satisfied. The weight in my hand is reassuring. The look and design is first class. It holds an edge beautifully. I really like the round design vs. the square design that some marking gauges use.

The quality is great and the tool works well but if I have ...
The etching on the gauge is illegible and I was unable to discern measurements. The quality is great and the tool works well but if I have to check and recheck because the measurement marks are illegible it make for a cumbersome tool. I ended up returning, :(
