Finally, a fitness mag about... fitness!
Ever get tired of picking up a so-called fitness magazine only to find it is chock full of beauty, lifestyle, and relationship tips, just like any old women's magazine? Fitness Rx is my favorite fitness magazine because it is 100% about physical fitness and optimum health for women. The magazine gorgeous women who are happy to tell you how they work out (hint: a LOT) and eat (another hint: clean). Sometimes it's a little too professional body-building oriented for my taste, but I would way rather see an ad for supplements featuring some totally shredded figure champion than buy a magazine that's all silly fluff pieces and recycled workouts. Fitness Rx delivers: great information and inspiration in every issue. It's such a good magazine that I even keep my back issues instead of recycling them!

Good info, lacks polish
This is not your run of the mill fitness magazine like Shape, Fitness, etc. If you're looking to lose weight but are afraid to gain some muscle, this is not the magazine for you. Fitness Rx is perfect if you enjoy putting in your time at the gym doing both weights and cardio and like a dose of science with your articles.Each issue has a "Warm Up" section featuring short blurbs from recent studies; some of the info will give you a "well, duh..." reaction and some you may not have heard before.Each issue also has a featured workout and at least one more workout, as well as an interview with whoever designed the feature workout (usually an IFBB Pro competitor). These are great workouts that will deliver results.Where is the lack of polish? In the Warm Up section, sometimes the exact same blurb will appear on two consecutive pages, just with differently colored background and text. There are occasional misspellings. There are even article subtitles with misspellings in them. (In the middle of an article I can grudgingly accept, but title text? Really?) All minor nitpicks, but they add up if you find such things bothersome.There is no shortage of advertising space in the pages, but IMHO the quality of information and workouts makes it worth ignoring the ads.Overall I'm happy with my Fitness Rx subscription but wish it were edited a little better.

One page of text, one page of advertisment
This magazine is awful.I just got my 3rd issue and they have been consistent with left page text, right page advertisment.I am going to let my subscription to this one lapse.The text is mostly lame "news" on nutrtion or exercise and sometimes you will get contradicting news on the same page. You also get some exericises and nutritional tips - but nothing you can't get in Fitness magazine or Oxygen for better value (I am subscribed to both those as well and I don't feel like I am wasting my money every time I get them in the mail). I cut out useful articles and paste them in my own "Health" scrabook. I do that with a lot of articless from Oxygen and Fitness - but so far I haven't used a single clipping from Fitness RX.This magazine needs some serious improvement. I am surprised with all the great reviews here (which is why I subscribed to it in the first place)My advice - don't bother.

Fitness RX for Women
Every year I renew this magazine for our son, who is a personal trainer. Since he asks for a renewal every year, I can safely assume that he likes the information contained. Pretty sure he likes the pictures, too.

Used to be an industry leader for women
I've let my subscription lapse. I work in the fitness industry and this mag used to be great. Over the last year though I let my subscription lapse as the magazine content deteriorated. For a magazine that focused on strong women, body builders and bikini competitors they started doing 'fluff' articles like shape and self, featuring models and actresses and the final straw for me was featuring Tracy Anderson. NOT what you expect from this magazine at all. It's lost it's way a little.Now it's still better than shape/self/fitness etc but it needs to go back to it's roots! With contributing writers like Jamie Eason and Nicole wilkins and other industry leaders I expect more than fluff filler articles

Love this magazine
My favorite magazine. So much good info in every issue. Always on point, always accurate, always relevant. I'm a trainer so I know if a fitness magazine is garbage. This one is quality.

Girlfriend wanted a good fitness mag..
I ordered this for my girlfriend after she stated some confusion about picking a good fitness mag to subscribe to. She loves it and it does contain a lot of useful valid information for her to use.

Great fitness magazine for women...finally
I was so relieved when, after great debate, I decided to get a subscription to Fitness Rx for Women and opened the first issue I received. I was a long-time subscriber to several other fitness magazines but gave them up for many reasons including superfluous ads for fat burners and other junk and claims about health yet showing emaciated "fitness" models. Yuck, stupid, and a total waste of money. I read reviews about Fitnes Rx for Women, however, and decided to give it a try. I'm really I did. They still have lots of stupid ads, but their models are real fitness competitors who are healthy and strong, and the ads seem to be somewhat less about crap fat burners I guess. (I know they have to make a profit somehow...right?) The articles are all based on scientific research, and many of the articles are written by doctors. If you are serious about health & fitness and want up-to-date scientific information, this is for you too. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is the price. It's expensive for only 10 issues, but it's worth it to me to have a larger percentage of real material.
