Every chord, Easy to read
It's a sturdy little book and easy to carry anywhere. Beyond the basics, it includes Dominant 9th, Suspended 4th, Dominant 7th Suspended 4th, Augmented, etc. Each page has one large picture that shows fingering and Chord Spelling. For example: G Major 1st position is G-B-D and the frets are on 1, 5 and 6 strings. It illustrates the open strings and the fingering. You can flip through the book to find a chord by the red tab on the edge of the page. The tabs are alphabetical. There is an explanation at the front of the book on how to use the chord boxes. There is a first position and second position to make chord progressions easier. To play a particular song, I don't find it helpful to try and flip around the book as I play. I scan the chords needed for the music, and then use the book to learn those chords. If you are new to this, it is easier. If you are experienced but just need to learn new chords that you don't use much (F#6add9 Major 6th add 9th anyone?) the book will be helpful to you too.

Very handy resource for guitar
I’m not brand new to guitar, but I’m not advanced either. I’ve been looking for a resource for chords for a while now. I considered a poster of common chords, but this book is so much handier. The spiral binding is really nice and makes it easy to lay the book flat. The book is too thick to be pocket-sized, but it’s small enough to fit in a small backpack or purse. It does not show all chords, but it shows the ones most players would commonly come across. The only thing I do not like is the indexing of this book. It would be so much easier to use if small tabs stuck out for each section instead of just red coloring at the edge. It’s a minor complaint, though, and should not sway you from buying this handy book. This book is ideal for people who are new to playing guitar - every guitar student should have one - but it’s also useful for those who are experienced, too.

Yep...get this one.
Small, packed with easy-to-read chords. So many of these books exist, but this is a really good, simple one.

Repurchased this old friend!
I love this book wth all my might! It is the first guitar chord book I ever bought back when I was first learning to play guitar and knew nothing about key signatures, or keys in general being(Major/Minor/diminished/ or augmented) etc. All I knew is that I wanted to know all the chords possible.. long story short I gave it to a student back when I was teaching and had become an intermediate guitar player and went on to major in classical guitar performance where I got to a point of thinking I no longer needed it. Now as I re-enter a new learning phase of my musical journey I have repurchased this gem and am using it to construct orchestrations on the guitar to which I never have before. So this book is aiding me in that journey yet again! The only thing I would like to see in the revision is for them to add a 3rd position for each chord. Now I know that would increase the number of pages by over 100 but it would further solidify this little gem as a staple in the musical learning experience.!

Great reference, perfect form factor, but plenty of typos.
The first thing I was looking for in a book that had all the chords in it (or at least the beginners chords) was large diagrams, ease of use, and a spiral backing that I can use while practicing chords. After all, if you truly want to play guitar, you should play chords (several strings/notes) at one time rather than just the individual strings. While this book does offer a handy guide with some common chords which are idea for new guitar player, it is rife with mistakes. For instance, I love how fingers are numbered, but what boggles my mind is how in some instances, little finger needs to overlap ring finger or ring finger needs to overlap middle finger. Are these guitar chords or the finger version of Twister? Some chords spellings have typos. If you list out similar chords, you can see that some of them are the same finger patterns only shifted up or down a fret to change the key of the chord. This is good, because if you use this book and take notes with it, you can identify which chords were entered into this book incorrectly such as there being a sharp missing or chord spellings out of order. Some of the diagrams forget to include if a string is open or not played. (I wouldn't be surprised if Advanced Guitar Chords has the same issues.) Personally, on the chords that had double sharps, I would have denoted them with "##" rather than "x" (or the musical character that looks like an "x") simply because beginning guitar players might not be familiar with that symbol. I do like that there was a double flat ("bb") notation, but it is important to tell the reader when "bb" is used, a chord letter is a whole step down (two notes lower) and that when "x" or "##" are used, a chord letter is a whole step up (two notes higher). Another thing this book lacks are indications on when to capo chords. There are some chords were you are required to put your index finger across all the strings. If you are chording with several chords at a specific fret, it would be wise to suggest the use of a capo. (See Johnny Cash's performance of "Man in Black" for example). Overall, I think if the person reading the book pays attention they will be able to mark in the book where mistakes were made. I believe the author should produce a new revised edition of this book to correct his mistakes and that he should probably do likewise with other books he has produced. I would still get this book, but pay attention to patterns and where things might seem off-key.

Just what I was looking for. Easy to use and navigate. Straight forward nice smaller size can take it anywhere. Just Google what chords the song your trying to learn uses then look for them in the book it's that simple. Each page is a different chord in tablature form. The pages are tabbed out in alphabetical order Just very easy to use great for anyone beginner or master guitarist
