A keeper (if less than perfect)
Looking for a new watch, I had 3 criteria: analog dial, case 40 mm or less, and a compass. One for three: analog dial. The case is 42 mm and no compass. Why buy a watch that meets only one of three criteria? Because it looks great. Although its several functions may make the watch face appear busy to some, I think the black face, white minute marks, blue numbers and compass headings are attractive, without the manic multi-dial I-have-to-time-four-things-at-once uber-chrono look.Despite the appearance, there's no compass in this watch. Period. Seiko never said there was, it just looks like it. Instructions say if the user points the 24-hour hand (not the same thing as the hour hand) at the sun and rotates the compass bezel to put north at 12 o'clock, the resulting display will show magnetic direction. Correct, except that there is no 24-hour hand on this watch, a glaring omission. If you can interpolate where a 24-hour hand would be if it had one, it's accurate enough to get you paddling back to the East Coast instead of the Iberian Peninsula if your kayak gets swept into the Atlantic. Beats guessing. (Google how to use any analog watch - including this one - to estimate direction.)Nice touches: raised crystal, one-fifth second markings, knurled outer ring, clever internal rotating compass bezel, alarm dial with miniature hour and minute hands, stop watch second hand with fluid sweepback on reset, metal band with pin lock clasp and dual side button release. Solar powered and waterproof way deeper than I'm going.Room for improvement: make the alarm louder (BTW the alarm hands can get out of sync with the main hands, but a little fiddling brings them right back), put more adjustment holes in the clasp, upgrade the cheap stamped metal miniature second hand, and increase the resistance of the compass knob so the directional headings don't wander at the slightest brush. And put in an actual compass. No easy task, but Seiko could do it. Make it look as good as this watch and I'll buy one of those too.For me, the shortcomings are outweighed by the overall appearance. This watch is a beaut and a keeper. Check out additional views on Google images. If you like what you see, you won't be disappointed when you open the box. I wish Seiko had done a few things better, but I'd buy it again in a New York minute.

Doesn't exactly scream ADVENTURE
To the good people at Seiko; I wish I could have offered more stars, however my reasons are as follows:1. Aesthetics:a. I am sorry to report that I have not experienced the same reaction as other reviewers to the aesthetics of this watch. The bracalet on the watch I received was very shiney..as in almost "mirror" shiny: not anything like the titaniumesque look of the watches pictured on any of the many internet sites i perused. It's not that I objected to the shiny treatment they applied to the band, in fact I might have found it attractive if It had been on a high-priced Automatic, and I was into a bring-on-the-bling mood. But wait a second, didn't Seiko bill this as...an..um..."adventure" watch? I guess every man has his own sense of adventure, but shiny, borderline sparkly, watch bands don't fit my sense of the term, unless the wearer has the means to afford bashing around a multi-grand Omega, Rolex, or other mid-grade auto as a statement in excess.b. Wow...that color! Unfortunately, the blue writing/indicators on the face on the watch I received were significantly lighter than how it appeared online. Yeah, I know all about color-matching problems inherent in viewing online pictures, but when my wife's first response to the watch was "baby blue!?", and that sadly echoed my own, I think that goes a long way towards describing the actual color.Summary: An "Adventure" watch with a high-luster shiny band, a baby-blue face, a barely audible alarm that sounds like a newly hatches chick with a cold, conveys adventure in the same way as I expect a tea outing in Liberace's back yard would have...and, oh yeah, this watch weights roughly the same as one his ( albeit smaller ) chandeliers. In terms of its function as a reliable timepiece, however, I have little doubt it would excel. I dropped mine off at a friend's jewelry store and told him to do with it what he will.

The watch was PERFECT!!
The watch was PERFECT!!! The guy I gave it to was a dou%he!! I looked everywhere to find this EXACT watch that he owned and smashed one drunken night (our second date). I scooped the pieces off the parking lot a few days later after the snow melted enough so I could find it.I pieced it back together enough so I could tell what it was and kept searching for it in stores and on line..... and then a year and a half later I found this watch on line!!! The timing (ha!) was great, or so I thought... I found it while he was in rehab (Irony!!!) and gave it to him when he came back after a month in rehab....and a few months later he dumped me. He kept the watch, while I still had the broken pieces of the old watch (and the broken pieces of furniture around my house that he broke while drunk).... But it was a BEAUTIFUL watch and it showed up on time (Ha!) and was very, very well priced!! (although I was still paying it off after we broke up) I would buy that watch again in a heartbeat, but give it to someone who deserved it .... like me!!

Amazon itself is an authorized Seiko dealer
I received the watch as promised. All the packaging came in find and the watch is great. But on the Warranty section on amazon its states that with the warranty card I get a 3 yr coverage. The only problem is the Warranty card is not stamped by the seller therefore there is no warranty. I'm hoping that this reaches the seller and this is just an oversight on their end. I will change this review immediately as soon as I hear from the seller and the warranty issue is resolved.Since I have received a resolution , 5 starsI wanted to revise my prev review, I reached out to Seiko USaThere email replyCustserv <[email protected]>Jun 2to meDear Customer,You can fill out the warranty card yourself. Hold onto your warranty card and Amazon receipt, don't mail them in. Amazon itself is and authorized Seiko dealer, third parties selling through the Amazon website are not.SCA Service Center

First Impressions only
Delivered at 7.30am the day after I ordered it at 3.30pm - fabulous fulfillment. The watch is a pressie from my wife for Xmas so after a quick look its gone away to be wrapped and ready for the 25th dec. On opening the well presented box, the watch is laid on a soft white cushion - it looks stunning, exceeding my expectations. It was not working on opening but within 5 mins of being in the light it started up. The quality feels and looks awsome but it is very heavy, so make sure you've been working on those guns before wearing - I won't know if this is a problem until I start wearing it. I am getting the watch to wear for everyday use but it is so stylish it can be worn for more formal occasions. It will be used alternatively with my current Seiko - a Sports 100, which I bought 35 years ago! It has been dived to just over 50m and survived a motorcycle crash, so if this one does half as well, I'll be well pleased.

Eye-catcher!!
Love Casios Eco-drive watches!! I'd probably have 50 or 60 of them if left unsupervised. Lol. I own at least 10 of them and have never had a problem with any of them. This one is currently my favourite. Small to medium sized in relation to today's watch sizes. Very stylish and the blue on the dial is quite eye-catching. I've received more then one compliment on this watch.

Excellent purchase. Would buy Seiko again
Been using it for 2 years now and the design watch is great. The dial is clear and the build is great. The glass did get a few scratches but this is a daily use watch. I do expect it to get scuffed up a little. The black finish has not come of or faded yet which is great.
