A precious investment
I have had a Thompson Chain Bible since I was 16. I now am 55. This is my 3rd Thompson Chain. I love this Bible. It is the most in depth Bible. I have a Woman's Study Bible I also use but nothing compares to this Bible. When I opened this Bible I tenderly rubbed my hands over it. I smelled the old familiar scent. I looked at the golden page ends. I made the initial thumb through as pages fell apart. I looked at the side references. I can't say enough about this Bible. My parents were pastors. I have both of their last worn Thompson Chains prior to their deaths. The study references are untouchable. There are topical studies, theme studies(a wonderful tool for sermon preparation). If you've never looked at a Thompson Chain you have no idea what you are missing. I did read reviews. I was shocked to some defects in some Bibles. I thoroughly checked my purchase for binding defects. I checked for end pages gold. The Thompson Chain is the most precious investment I make. My first was a Christmas present from my brother (KJV). I invested this time in NIV. I learn something new regularly from study tools available with Thompson Chain Reference Bible. I highly recommend for new Christian, seasoned Christian or any Christian wanting to spend daily in God's Word. The Thompson Chain highly recommended.

Be Sure to Query the Seller on Used Bibles and Books
Third time's a charm as I received a used Thompson Chain Reference Bible (NIV) from Academic Overflow that was in Like-New condition. (They called it "Good"). My two prior attempts of buying a TCR (both from different sellers) were either worse than described or an unexpectedly small version called a "handy" size. Amazon lumps all of these Thompson Chain Reference Bibles under one listing. So when you find the used listing that interests you most be sure to contact the sellers and ask specific questions! Again, it took me three tries to get a good one.

Until this day I have never seen anything like it. The genuine leather is nice
Thompson Chain Reference Bible (Style 806burgundy) - Regular Size NIV - Genuine Leather Everything it clames to be.I bought my first TCRB in 1984. Until this day I have never seen anything like it. The genuine leather is nice. Kirkland has done a good job binding this Bible. It is not an R L Allen, but it is nicely bound and the leather is nice. If you know nothing about the TCRB: The name tells it all "Chain Reference" study the Bible on any subject ...and there is none better. This Bible doesn't have a running commentary. If you are looking for a Bible with commentary I would suggest the ESV Study Bible, The NASB Study Bible, HCSB Study Bible, or NLT Study Bible

Awesome Bible translation to have.
How great it is to Owen this Bible again. For being a used Bible it is in absolute great condition. No pages missing or even written on was like the individual who owned it before me just added the index on the edges of the pages and then put it on the shelf. I hate to say that it's obvious it didn't get much use but you can bet it will now. Just bought it a beautiful Bible cover so it will last longer.

Wish I had gotten it...
Love this bible and use it for teaching and personal devotions. I wanted to give it as a gift and the wrong color was sent. I received a black leather bible and had to send it back. This caused me to miss the opportunity to present it as a gift and there was no option or phone no or offer to exchange this for the one I ordered. I had to send it back and wait to see if it would clear and credit back my visa before I could have re ordered.

Great Find
For a pre-used item of this nature and original cost it was a great find. My dog ate my copy of 30 plus years of use. I could not afford to get a new one for over $100.00. This was a blessing. Thank you.

It is exactly like my wore out one that needed replacing
I am thrilled to have found this one! It is exactly like my wore out one that needed replacing. I did not want a newer NIV version, as it reads differently, ( probably because it went "gender neutral"), Pages were falling out of mine, including the copyright page that would have told me what information I needed to replace it. A very helpful person led me to exactly what I wanted. Did I mention I am thrilled?

Water Damage
This Bible, while readable, shows obvious signs of water damage by the discoloration on the paper as well as the smell of sewage. I know how a Thompson Chain Reference Bible ought to smell. It does have a distinct smell because of the type of paper, but it doesn't smell like sewage like this Bible does. Also, it makes me sick when I'm using it. My Thompson Chain Reference Bible that I've had since 1986 never made me sick and never smelled like sewage. Bad business. Don't trust this seller.
