Amazing product even for an older carpet!
I recently rented a room and unfortunately it has a carpet. I lived in places with carpets for a while so I got used to cleaning and vacuum and renting professional carpet cleaners (didn't seem to make sense to me to buy one if the house wasn't mine). In this place (a somewhat old house) I am willing to bet that the carpet hasn't been replaced for a while (over 10 years probably), judging by it being pretty stiff in areas like the entrance of the room and comparing to the corners (where it looks new). Even though it was cleaned by a professional before I moved in, I am guessing that it has not been cleaned regularly by the previous tenant. So overall there is a big spot at the entrance which I assume is from a mix of it being more used up there and also maybe because shoes were used inside. There was also a weird smell, not a bad one, not mold, but a 'stuffy' smell no matter how long I would keep the window open. Then I tried the Zorb... This product comes in a pouch and as you spread it on the carpet it has a clumpy texture (very different from baking soda and similar products like the Glade and others for carpets). After roughly spreading half of it throughout the carpet, I walked around bare foot and dragged my feet in the carpet to help it go in, closer to the bottom of the carpet fibers. The other half of the product I spread more in the worse areas - those areas that looked darker in color and/or felt less fluffy. Once more I dragged my feet to make sure the product was dispersed as evenly as possible (some reviewers show pictures of how it looks like when it's properly dispersed). I don't know if using my feet was the best idea but that was the best way I could think of to spread the product evenly. I should say that I'm not typically allergic or have high sensitivity to cleaning products or perfumes so if anyone is, probably don't use your feet as I did. As I touched the product with my feet I noticed it being kinda damp (which made sense since the instructions said to wait 30 min or until dry, I couldn't understand why dry since I was expecting a powder). The smell is strong but not the type of smell you would say that it has the only purpose to mask bad odors. It smells good and 'clean' ... whatever that means! After spreading and sweeping with my feet, I left it for over 30 minutes since it was not dried at 30 minutes. When it was dry, I vacuumed using my roommate's vacuum (which is not a Dyson, it's an Hoover from some years ago, still uses bags to collect dirt so I assume is an older model but has good suction). I vacuumed the carpet and made sure I got all the pieces of product even those that went to the corners. In the end, the carpet looks much cleaner and the room doesn't get that intense smell of 'stuffy'. Today was the first day that the room was closed all day after I cleaned it with the Zorb cleaner and I could still smell some that old 'stuffy' but much less than it used to. Overall, it seems like this product worked better than a professional cleaning company, I'm guessing in part because I took the time to insist in the bad areas and I'm guessing they didn't. I plan to repeat the process once more and expect it to take care of the whole issue with the weird smell. I wish I had known about this product for the old place I used to live in, the carpet there wasn't so bad as it was newer than this one and this alone would've saved me tons of times working with a carpet cleaner. I would've used this as a maintenance product in between professional cleaning services. It's freaking amazing and I recommend it 100%!!

A 10 year old bag of zorb successfully cleaned dish soap from carpet
Prior to last week, I had never used zorb although I received the first bag in the box of a Dyson Animal DC17 that I had about 10 years ago; so I was surprised that the contents of the bag were still usable.I just purchased three more bags since I was so impressed with how well it worked. The situation that convinced me to buy more:In our guest room, a guest had spilled some coffee and a toddler threw up on the carpet. At the time, the guest "cleaned" it up with dish soap and a cotton towel. The mess was gone and there were no stains but since I really didn't spend much time in that room except when guests were in there, I didn't really pay much attention to the stickiness in two areas of the carpet. We used to have a dresser in the room and after removing it, I noticed that the metal foot had left a rust mark on the carpet. I panicked thinking there must be a leak since that part of the carpet is on a perimeter wall and adjacent to a bathroom and that it felt a little moist. I eventually lifted up the corner and peeled back about a fourth of the carpet to feel the carpet backing and carpet pad. I even used a moisture sensor I had purchased at a club store to test the backing, slab floor and pad. Fortunately, neither the carpet, the pad or the concrete slab floor were wet to the touch or had any indication that there was significant moisture present, however the carpet surface where the rust stain was and another spot where the carpet also felt sticky registered 90-100% moisture.I then borrowed a steam cleaner and proceeded to clean the carpet and the two areas that were sticky and had an odd smell if you rubbed your hands through it. The steam cleaner did it's job cleaning the other side of the room but made the sticky areas much worse, spreading the two 1'x1' blobs to a single 2'x10' path. I ended up steam cleaning the affected area of the carpet 7 times over the span of a week; allow the room to dry between cleanings. I also called three professional steam cleaners, but they didn't want to clean just one room and I didn't want or need to spend $600 cleaning other parts of the house.Thinking back to the initial guest cleanup, I suspect that maybe too much soap was used on the carpet which left the fibers saturated with soap that would never fully dry. The consumer steam cleaner probably also didn't have the pressure or suction power to push the hot water deep enough into the fibers to draw out the soap; but I think I did clean the carpet pretty well overall as the water in the dirty water tank went from dirty grey to light tan, matching the dye of the carpet.I tried a few things afterwards (Folex, carpet cleaner, Dyson spot cleaner) and nothing worked, then I thought I might as well try this bag of zorb I've had in my garage for 10 years since the reviews on Amazon and elsewhere seemed encouraging. I spread the entire bag over the 20 square feet (probably overkill on that small of an area) and worked it into the carpet with the old DC17 zorb head attachment, left it untouched to dry about 16 hours then vacuumed it back up with a 2017 Dyson vacuum. The dried zorb was easy an easy task for the Dyson to vacuum up.The contents of the bag were slightly moist, not sure how moist it's supposed to be since it was the first bag I've ever used, but I am happy to say that the stickiness and the smell are all gone. The carpet feels normal again. The only thing I did not like is the smell, it's so strong after you sprinkle it on the carpet that it's practically suffocating to be near. After vacuuming, the smell was easily tolerable.

Works with other vacuums & great for dog barf!
This stuff is kind of fun. It's damp in the bag, and comes out really yellow, but non-staining. It also smells REALLY nice, but if you're sensitive to smells it may not be for you as the smell does linger after vacuuming it (which we like). We've used it two times on our white shag rug - once to see if it would get out general dirt and light staining from a high traffic part of the rug, which it really didn't do too much to return the rug to its vibrant white state. Our fault for getting a white rug in a high traffic room with a dog.The second time was when said dog barfed on said white shag rug. We started with Nature's Miracle on the rug and blotted away a lot of the mess first, then followed by massaging some of the Zorb into the rug. We let it dry fully for about an hour (it takes much longer than the 30 minutes the bag suggests when on shag rug), and vacuumed it up. It took the stain right out!! We can still slightly tell it's there, but ONLY because we already knew where it was. If we didn't know, you'd never be able to tell. This stuff is great. We use this with a Shark vacuum rather than a Dyson and it works wonderfully.

Awesome
This is Way way way better than vanish rubbish. At least it removes stains and cleans the carpet and it lifted more dirt from my new carpet than the Dyson vacuum did.Utterly amazed at the long lasting smell and way way worth the price and superb cleaning and freshening. I had spilled a tube of bicarbonate on the front room carpet and it had gotten wet after the doggie had an accident after getting excited. Vanish did bugger all to remove the stain just made it worse. Then I used this stuff and bugger me it removed the stain and all the other dirt and smell and dog hair the vacuum had missed. So I will buy this in future.

A FINE EVEN layer is best.
I normally use the Voerwerk Kobosan snow, so had no problems using this product on my medium pile family room carpet and my short pile carpet in the study. Both cleaned up really well. I shall definitely use the Dyson Zord powder again, but would prefer to purchase it locally at a Dyson dealer, as and when I require it.
