I got a used fridge with water and ice dispenser and the water had a weird taste. I ordered this replacement filter and now the water tastes great. Very is to install!!!

I have ordered many different filters in the past and the fit is almost always the biggest issue. It sucks when you have a dripping filter in your refrigerator. This one fit my frig perfectly and I could really feel the seal as I turned it into place. Highly recommend you give them a try. Price was right too.

I can't believe I have such ridiculously high water pressure. Went from filling up a gallon bottle in about 5 minutes to less than 1. I forgot it could do that!Well, the water tastes exactly the same as it did with the replacement, and of course it's a torrent now instead of a trickle. No leaks or other problems (other than I can't go blow-dry my hair waiting for a pitcher to fill). I finally got around to replacing my fridge's filter after.. maybe like 7 years? I was more comfortable drinking tap water (never got to that point - would have loved to just remove the filter but of course without it there's no sealed water line to the dispenser - so we just kept it in until it was almost completely clogged) than spending $30-40 on a new filter. Good news was, regardless of how clogged it got, the water still didn't taste like tap water. Good job LG.I cut open the old filter because, I mean, come on. There's a thick hollow cylinder of carbon filter inside, and at the end of the cylinder is a catch for large debri (the cause of the clog!). If anyone's curious, mine (I live in Los Angeles County, water comes from the Rancho Dominguez district's water distribution center) was filled with extremely clean-looking tiny woodchip things. No smell whatsoever. We have really hard water, but man at least it's not full of gross stuff. I intend to cut this one open as well, and at this price I don't think it'll take another 8 years for that to happen.

The tip where it goes into refrigerator was a little different from the one I replaced but it fit well.

The water filter fit fine and functions fine so far. The instructions could have been a little more than "read the owner's manual" to be helpful. Thankfully, it is so easy to install that one could not mess it up. They should make it clearer in the instructions to run a considerable amount of water through the filter immediately upon installation to ensure that the loose carbon is cleared from the filter. I had to run about a gallon of water through the filter for the water to become clear.

First, I do not have a water test kit but I am extremely fussy with my water and even though mine is safe, I can't stand the taste of it. This gets out all that nasty taste and makes it taste clean, like it should. No issues installing nor running it for a bit to get it started. Fits perfectly without leaks. Much better than the other replacement one I bought and returned (I couldn't get it to ever taste clean). I'd buy again if I still needed this model.

Even though they claim it replaces an LG 5231JA2006A filter it does not. While it did fit the filter holder in our fridge, the water just dribbles out the dispenser sporadically. It may have to do with the fact that the top is slightly different from that of an actual LG filter, and it doesn't fit as snugly. Very disappointing.

Interesting that some other reviewers said it leaks or didn't fit properly. This is the 3rd year I've been using this and haven't had any problems. Maybe my refrigerator model just likes this filter.

I have been using the LG branded filter and since I could not locate one immediately, I purchased this following a read up on good feedbacks on this product. I have since installed this filter. No issues with fitting or installation.
