We’ve all heard the story of the Four Horsemen. Harbingers of the apocalypse. Destruction given form. Four of the sexiest—wait no—forget that. You get my point. So imagine my surprise when I find out everything I’ve ever been told, is a lie. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves here. Let’s start from the beginning. My name is Ruby Morningstar. I run a tattoo parlor in Portland with my banshee bestfriend, have a pet raccoon, a crazy ex that stalks me, not to mention this one little thing… I’m a demon. Half-succubus, to be exact. For the last twenty-three years of my life, that’s the story I believed, but on the day a handsome stranger bails me out of jail my world is turned upside down, and suddenly I don’t know who I am anymore. Because the Four Horsemen aren’t the bringers of the apocalypse. I am. Talk about never catching a break. Review: Couldn't stop listening to this series! - I had this audiobook in my library since the big audible sale and I wanted something different than what I had been reading/listening to and I was not disappointed! I don't know what I didnt listen to these sooner, but I am so glad I finally did ❤️. I loved Ruby and these characters, they were a breath of fresh air, with all the snark included hahaha. I enjoyed Moira and Ruvy's relationship, also Bandit was hilarious and adorable! I liked the faster pace with the fated grouping/bonds, but liked that the sexy time wasn't as fast. She takes her time letting the guys in, especially given her tough past and the events she has to go through just in book 1. I was happy to see the karmic justice to Josh and the imp, not gonna lie. I was intrigued to see how Ruby would transition with beast/inner demon and what powers she would get as the series went on. So after book 1, Rysten was definitely my favorite and then came Allistair. I was on the fence with Julian which was what Kel was going for hahaha because he was so stubborn and uptight when it came to Ruby and the other Horsemen. BTW those new covers....definitely going to get this series in paperback as well 😍😍😍 In terms of the narration, I have listened to Hollie Jackson before and she did a good job. I thought she was fabulous with the women voices and inflections, those performances were stellar throughout the whole series. With her guy performances, there were some bumps for me. Book 1 was the best I think, but some of the accents became ambiguous as the series went on (in terms of British or Aussie for some of the guys haha). Only critique from me, which is why I gave it a 4/5 stars for the performance. Overall really like this book and devoured the rest of the series over the week. Definitely recommend, on point with other Kel work. I hope she continues to write all types of books because I love all kinds, but her RH ones are fabulous ❤️ Review: Great groundwork for the series! - The Josh scene when all four of the Four Horsemen showed up... goosebumps. IYKYK. Lucifer’s Daughter kicks off a fun, fast-paced paranormal series with a fresh twist on Hell, the devil, and what it means to be his heir. This first entry in the Queen of the Damned series introduces Ruby, Lucifer’s half-human daughter, navigating a world of demons, power struggles, and secrets. It’s got snark, magic, and just enough heat to keep things interesting without tipping into overkill. What I really enjoyed was how the book handled Lucifer’s domain. It wasn’t the standard fire and brimstone setup. There’s a unique structure to this version of Hell, and Ruby’s voice made it both relatable and entertaining. Some characters didn’t feel as fleshed out as I’d hoped (Moira especially caught my attention, I want way more of her), but overall the cast had promise, especially the Four Horsemen, who made a memorable, goosebump-inducing entrance. The romance took a backseat to the world-building and plot setup, which honestly worked for this first installment. The spice level was light, not quite fade-to-black but definitely more of a tease than anything explicit. I get the sense this book is laying the groundwork for bigger emotional and romantic payoffs in later books. Pacing was solid, the humor hit more often than not, and Ruby’s arc has me ready to dive into the next books. I paired the Kindle version with the audiobook, and it made for a super smooth read and listen experience. If you’re into paranormal romance with strong urban fantasy vibes, low spice, and a confident, sarcastic heroine with hellish lineage, this one's worth checking out. Final Thoughts: I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to readers looking for something snarky, fast, and a little dark without being overwhelming. Definitely looking forward to seeing how Ruby grows and how much more chaotic things get from here.

Intriguing, I just personally didn't connect...
3.5 stars — Dudes, this cover is one of the major reasons why I wanted to give this book a try. It truly is amazeballs. And the blurb is hella intriguing too!! I haven’t read a lot of reverse harems, and so why not start with the four horsemen of the apocalypse? 😉 And it was good, it just didn’t blow me away. Part of that is that it’s pretty short, and while I was intrigued by where the plot was going, I apparently wasn’t intrigued enough to want to continue. And because it was shorter, it was a lot of introduction, and not a lot of connection for me. Ruby was hella snarky, and I thoroughly enjoyed that. I thought the moral conundrums she faced made for some depth to her character, and was definitely unexpected and appreciated. I will admit the bits we learn about her past in the end caught me by surprise. I wouldn’t have minded if the foreshadowing had been a bit more obvious or something…but maybe that was just me and I was reading distracted. As for the four horsemen? I didn’t really feel like I had enough time to get to know them that well…I wasn’t really attached to any of them. I thought they were intriguing, for sure, and it was an interesting concept…but I just… I don’t know. Maybe it was just me. But not only did *I* not connect with them, I also didn’t see much of a connection between any of them with Ruby. Sure, attraction for sure, but what beyond that? It might come in the next books, but I needed more in this book for me to be invested. I was also not a huge fan of Moira…I don’t know why, but I felt reservations about her. Bandit on the other hand was spectacular. And since I don’t read a lot of paranormal, I felt like while the world was intriguing, I was a bit lost with it all. So many creatures, and not all of the names familiar. So I think the theme for me was a lack of connection. I did connect and enjoy Ruby, but that was about it. I’m sure it’ll be a hit for others, it just didn’t have enough of what I was looking for for me to check out the rest.

Loved this!!
It’s a dirty, sexually tense, short story. One thing I thought to be very interesting, reads like a TV show. I could honestly see this story be a good TV show too. I feel as if this book was made for specifically me and my taste. I immediately bought the rest of the books in the series when I finished this book. I also feel that given the title, if you chose to read this book, it will be right up your alley as well. The female characters are strong independent women. The strength and will power she gave the main character, and the foundation of it, could not be more impressed. Although everything in me wishes this book was more smutty, It would have ruined the main character's morals, taking away what I loved so much about her. The tension she built between the characters. The morals she placed amongst all of them, although they were all demons. Mmm! I can’t even put into words how much I loved that. I am a sucker for a biblical reference with a twist. I am a theologian so l am a nerd for religion base theories. Accurate depiction with an unconventional, theoretical conspiracy of the story. I eat that up. I love what the author conspired. A tale that might not be so far fetched. It wasn't a far left-field conspiracy that sounded completely made up. Just a new outlook or possibility to the centuries old biblical tale. The storyline was well written. There aren't missing bits or parts that drag on just to fill the pages. Book reviews from me only get 5 stars if it knocks out my current number one read. Only regret/dislike I have about this book is I read it so fast.

A blazing good time!
I picked this up a while ago during a “stuff your kindle” day, and man am I regretting not starting it before now! Ruby is such a fun FMC, and I can’t wait to learn more about her, and read her journey as she comes into herself and her powers. Her best friend Moira is fierce, and the horsemen? Well….you should just read to find out. Whew! On to book 2.

Found a new paranormal series!
Reviewed For I'm A Sweet And Sassy Book Whore My all time favorite genre for romance is paranormal, so while I love other ones, paranormal will always be my top pick if I had a choice. I love finding a new paranormal book or series and I can already tell that the Queen Of The Damned series is going to be one that I love because the first book, Lucifer’s Daughter drew me in within a couple of pages. The legendary four horsemen of the apocalypse, demons, the daughter of Lucifer, and a prophecy and destiny that is unaware to the heroine all makes for a strong start to the series. The sexual tension between Ruby and the horsemen is off the charts hot, add to it that they all are more than just protectors. They are meant to be much more to her and while we are given glimpses of the chemistry between them I can’t wait until it all explodes because I am think there is going to be some pretty hot and intense sex between them and this book whore can hardly wait. Ruby is part succubus so the she has to deal with the sexual pull both men and women feel towards her, and at times it drive people insane. She is dealing with her ex that won’t leave her alone and even though they never had sex, he is under her unintended spell and won’t leave her alone. When something happens I wanted to scream and raise the fires of #@!! myself, because she doesn’t deserve that. This was a fairly quick read for me but then again I tend to read fast but I really liked it a lot. I really am anxiously anticipating the next book because we are only just beginning to get the story started in Lucifer’s Daughter. Paranormal fans really should check this one out because I think they will, like me, have found a new series to read. Received an ARC for which I voluntarily provided an honest review

Straight In With My Favourites
This was my second time reading Lucifer’s Daughter and I loved it just as much as I did the first time round. It is full of life, action, witty characters and is a fast easy read that lives you hunkering for more. Ruby is a half human half succubus tattoo artist with a bit of a temper, a fiercely protective banshee best friend, and the cutest raccoon ever. Ruby is a well rounded character, she’s not whiney, she doesn’t spend pages antagonising over things; she gets stuff done and then deals with it later. For me, Ruby is what a true strong female character should be; she is independent and capable of taking control of her own life but is not afraid to lean on her friends for support and shows emotions that move past just butt kicking - which too many authors seem to think is the main quality of a strong female character. I love how Ruby’s best friend, Moira, is such a prevalent character throughout the whole book, she doesn’t just disappear once the Four Horsemen turn up. And the Four Horsemen? Let’s just say that I like what I see... I mean read.. and I like how Carpenter kept their snippets of POV’s to just that, snippets - short and sweet does the trick. Carpenter has created a riveting read, and while stories of the Four Horsemen are not unusual, this is still an original story with a captivating plot. Lucifer’s Daughter is a slow to medium burn RH with only heavy petting above and below the waist. There is no cliffhanger to be exact but it definitely paves the way for book two, but I should warn you that there is a trigger warning needed for this one. I cannot wait to read more of the world of Ruby and the Four Horsemen that Carpenter has created, and of course I look forward to reading more about Bandit the raccoon (so cute). Lucifer’s Daughter not only gets five stars from me but it’s gone straight in with my favourites.
