Powerful enough for home garden
The media could not be loaded. I love this solar-powered fountain and its ability to create a natural water spring effect in my small garden. Although it's a bit pricey, it's been worth it for what I needed. I didn’t get the optional battery initially because I wasn’t sure if the pump would be strong enough, but it turned out to be very powerful. Now, I’m considering whether to add the battery for 24/7 operation or just keep it as is. Right now, the fountain runs from about 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, though I know that will change with the seasons as the sunlight decreases. Sometimes, even when a bird flies over the solar panel, the pump briefly stops but quickly resumes once the bird passes. I’m also thinking of getting another one of these fountain to further enhance that calming spring water sound.I also plan to replace the PVC pipe with bamboo so it looks more natural, but for now, the PVC pipe works perfectly.

Needs full sun - no shading of solar panel
Update: after posting the original review, the seller reached out to see what they could do to improve my satisfaction with the product. They ended up retroactively applying a coupon that I had missed, essentially negating the cost of the extension cable that I had needed to place the panel in full sun for the entire day, definitely increasing the fountain’s value as a purchase. My original review stands, but given the over the top customer service and essentially adding the extension cable to the original setup at no added cost, I have increased my review to four stars.Original review: I bought this to circulate the water in a birdbath/garden pond that I’m building. I bought their 15’ extension cable as the location of the fountain is dappled sunlight at best and with the extension I could place the panel in full sun. This turned out to be a smart move because it is either full on or almost off. The photos were taken with the sun behind clouds , but still bright, and full sun. If anything casts a shadow across even a small portion of the panel, it shuts off. For those that wish to know the height of the spray, the pump inlet is about 18” below the water surface.Overall, it does what I need, but I give it three stars as the panel can’t handle any shading making the extension cable (and its extra cost) almost a necessity unless the site is in full sun. I’m satisfied enough that I am considering the battery option since the custom fountain head I plan to install would work with about half the height the water is pumped to in full sun, giving me more hours of circulation.

What a disappointment
Just as others have complained, I'm having the same problem with my pumps. The one I purchased in 2020 works great. It even works on a cloudy day, but I bought two more last summer (2024) and as other purchasers have mentioned, you have to unplug them and then plug them back in every morning to get them to work, but they don't work for long. Once a cloud moves over the sun, they're done. Since others have mentioned that they have had no results or responses from customer service, I'm not going to waste my time trying to contact them myself. I'll just never purchase another eco worthy product ever again.Update:I connected the 2024 pumps to the 2020 panel. Both pumps worked even in cloudy conditions. So, the problem must be with the new solar panels and not the pumps. At least in my case.

Add the battery, no electrician!
Add the battery and it will last past sundown. The overall volume rate is like a very light hose, enough for 100-300 gallon pond or fountain.

Only works with direct full sunlight
Please understand that this will only run the pump when there is direct and full sunlight on the solar panel. My yard is almost always partially shaded and so, my pump would rarely turn on.This should not be a problem if you have full sunlight, at least for part of the day and only want your pump to work during the day.The pump has good power and works good

Strong pump, great water flow; needs very strong, direct sunlight
I actually bought this a couple years ago, it got set aside and I forgot about it. This spring, I remembered that I had gotten it for my fountain and wanted to make it a fountain again rather than just a birdbath. The fountain I have is a three tier bowl set up, about 18 to 20 inches tall. This pump is rated for up to 4 feet water rise, as I recall. So it’s technically more powerful than we need, however, with the “apple“ nozzle on it, redirect the water back down into the upper bowl perfectly. Water flow when sun is shining directly on the panel is very strong. I love it!I had thought about getting the battery for this so it would run when the sun isn’t completely out. But I have opted not to do that. I just want enough water running to keep the mosquito larva dead, and the water relatively fresh. This does exactly that.

Not long lived
Worked great, good output even out of direct sun. For like 2 months. If you buy be gentle with the pump component, inside is an impeller resting on a ceramic shaft, a brittle ceramic shaft. Should the impeller make contact to the walls inside, it will stick like a magnet and never function reliably afterward.
