GE JVM7195SFSS 1.9 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Over-the-Range Microwave

The good news is that the microwave works well at what it is supposed to do. Also, the fan is as Consumer Reports says: robust in its performance. The fly in the ointment is the frustration inflicted upon the DIY installer by the fact that the installation manual does not match the design elements of the oven and when one calls GE to ask if they would like to know what the material discrepancies are, no one at three different departments can take that information and the most they can do is offer to send you the same, inaccurate manual. Here are the discrepancies: First the drill holes for the upper paper template do not match the holes in the oven. Work around: note the location of the holes on the oven and measure your cabinet space to match. Second, the installation manual repeatedly references a top-center screw hole that does not exist on the oven (nor is this phantom screw included with the parts that are shipped with the oven). Third, the manual references the use of a filler block to compensate for a cabinet front piece even when detailing the instructions for an installation where there is no cabinet front piece. Although time-consuming trial and error will produce an installed oven that works well, I just don't see why GE can't write a manual that reflects the physical realities of the product it sells.

Has only been installed for about a week, so cannot comment on life span. Overall appearance is great - nice clean lines and the right amount of stainless steel and grey painted surfaces. Key pad is nice and easy to operate. Good exhaust fan and light. Overall, very nice product. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 for the following reasons:The instructions are horrible. The wording does not match the pictures and neither match what you actually need to do to install. Specifically I am talking about how to set up the fan if you are not venting to the outside (recirculating vent). Do a search online for a tutorial on set up - most manufactures are set up similar for over the range microwave recirculating vents.Also, as another reviewer mentioned, once installed, the top metal cover (the outer casing of the microwave itself) pulls away as the weight of the microwave hangs on the 2 mounting bolts. Not a huge problem and one that you really don't notice unless you are tall - I'm 6'2" and can see it but it doesn't affect the functionality of the unit, just an annoyance in an otherwise nice appliance. An extra screw or two would fix this.

I purchased and self-installed this after a lengthy search for a replacement microwave in mid 2016. I would highly encourage a 2nd person assisting when installing - mainly to help guide it into position, and then hold it while screwing it in. I had to make some additional holes in my cabinetry, but the installation was relatively easy. The low score is representative of the quality. It had turned off by itself about a month or so ago, and it took a few days, but eventually came back on. Since it started responding, it has stopped actually doing its job of heating anything. It appears that it's working; however, after the time has elapsed and the Microwave all-too-familiar *ding* sounds, you are unpleasantly rewarded with a non-heated product.If anything, this review will show as a reason to buy SquareTrades warranty services. I contacted SquareTrade, submitted my claim, heard back from a representative, and am now shopping for a new microwave with the reimbursement money... all in less than a 24 hour time span. That is service. *mic drop*

It looks great over my stove in my kitchen. Only have had it for a few days, so far, happy with it. I see i am going to Amazon first to make purchases, having a text once the item is at my front door. I love that, and it's helping me so much to not have to spend my time in traffic, shopping.Found this one quickly, Amazon had it marked as a "best seller". So this was the one i selected, and i'm happy with it. I haven't really looked at all the selections on it, but it has many. I installed it myself with my wife's help, i didn't like the newpaper thin template. The template to mark bolt holes should be stiff cardboard. If you install it, you need some basic skills, and two people are needed at times during installation. If i had to do it again, i would have run out and got some poster board to put the template on first. Anyway, haven't had this microwave long, but it's very attractive, at was at my front door two days after ordering. I am hopeful for many years of service from this appliance.

Arrived a day ahead of scheduled 2-day Prime delivery. Priced cheaper than other online stores. Very clean lines, attractive unit. We were replacing a GE Profile XL1800, so I was concerned whether it would have the same look, and I actually prefer it over the Profile. It runs quite quietly, and has most if not all of the features the Profile had.Installation was simple, but you definitely do need two people for a portion of it. While not identical in profile, all the supports lined up perfectly, which allowed us to to re-use the same wall bracket assembly as the old microwave, both being GE. The top holes for mounting to top cabinet were not the same, but no big deal.NOTE: if you're venting the blower inside, skip ahead in the directions to ensure you rotate the blower motor assembly. Out-of-the-box, it's oriented assuming that you're going to vent it outside. I mounted the microwave, *then* realized I needed to rotate the assembly... my own fault, but the order on the instructions is a little kludgey. Rotating the blower is a 2-screw / open / rotate / rescrew procedure, so it's very simple.Also note that although others have said the charcoal filter kit isn't included, it was included with mine.So now I have 2 :)
