Polarity should not be an issue. You can come out of the power supply only one way with the main wire, then into this "jumper" and out. Noting colors (e.g. red to red, ensure they match. If not cut and splicing will be required. Excellent product.

I have scrapped the silicone off but still donot have a good connection

The prongs inside are so small that they aren't very strong. It helped when I did the following: I cut a small piece of the backing paper (from the LED strip), folded the paper over to double it, placed it inside the connector end, then snapped the cover shut. That made the prongs press down onto the LED strip and helped with the connection.

Will the connectors work with Armacost tape lights interchangeably?

Greetings, As long as the Armacost tape lights have similar cut lines, and are 8 millimeters in width with 3528 LED chips, I suppose you should be able to use our connectors with those lights.
