SKIL 5995-01 18-Volt 5-3/8-Inch SKILSAW Circular Saw (Bare-Tool) (No Battery or Charger)

I'm doing a refit on my boat and have found this saw very easy to use in the confines of the cabin. When used with a lithium battery it performs with ease making the job a pleasure. I think the lithium battery makes the difference in performance. I have used my drill on nic-cad batteries and only found its use helpful once I purchased a lithium battery since I was always recharging it on every use before.The saw is very light and compact but does do the job. One would not expect it to compare with a larger mains driven saw but for my application cutting plywood sheets and pine 2 by 4 including ripping down some for smaller stock.Some reviews have mentioned the importance of sharp blades and I have purchased some more blades of another brand since Skill appear not to sell theirs as a part. As with all cutting tools keeping a shape blade is paramount.

Came to me in its original box. Is everything as advertised. I have used it to rip 1/2" 4X8 plywood and several cuts of 2X4's with it and it still kept on working to cut 2X2's to length to create railing for 5 stairs. Plywood was cut several times to make a small dog house. Of course I am using a Lithium Battery which gives quite a bit more service prior to needing recharging. I would highly recommend this saw for the DIY or handyman who needs to cut trim work on a job site without the use of a table saw. The saw works absolutely flawless and straight with plenty of power and is lightweight which makes it even more handy for a woman to handle as well.

Some people might burn me at the stake for revealing this but I bought this for my wife for her birthday.She absolutely loves it and uses it way more than I do, its a lot more easy to handle than a standard circular saw and offers the portability of a drill.Skills family of products that work with their 18v batteries is wonderful and I plan on buying more in the future.

Im a first time woman power tool user and I did not have any problems even though I was really nervous. Not nervous anymore.

buy after market batteries on amazon, they are good -- the stores charge crazy prices

fine for what it is. will cut a 2x4 ok. pressure treated not so hot. just got to go slower. fine with plywood up to 3/4. very handy there.i am gonna put a 6-6.5 blade on it for more speed at the cutting surface.

I had a project where I needed to cut 5 shelves from 3 4x8 sheets of plywood and I had to pause after cutting the first four shelves and re-charge.

A very good comfortable medium duty portable saw. A nice feature is that the same rechargeable battery will work with other tools in this Skill line.
