Sealy Hybrid Essentials 12-Inch Firm Mattress, California King

I wrote about this before but pulled the review down.Let me start by saying this is an amazing mattress. I couldn't be more impressed with it. The big issue I had was with shipping. It wasn't Amazon or Sealy's fault, but the package I got was severely damaged. The box was ripped and there were liquid stains all over it. The mattress was in a plastic bag so it didn't get on the mattress but I'm currently in the process of having it replaced. The other one I bought didn't have any issues at all and that's what I'm basing this one.The first one however, was so damaged that the shipper was very concerned about it. He warned me before dropping it off and didn't feel comfortable letting me take possession b/c of the shape the package was in, ostensibly out of being a good steward and also b/c he didn't want to risk anything being blamed on him. Amazon agreed to take it back and ship out a replacement and that process was as convenient and helpful as it could have been.They say you need to give it 30 days before a mattress fully seats and I've had it for almost 45 days now. From the first night however, I was very impressed. I'm a heavy guy and was worried about compression but from the first night, I loved it. 45 days later i still do and as I said, I liked it so much I ordered a second one.You can certainly use a box spring under it, but I have a very low bed and the whole style would be ruined if you used a box spring. I just have it directly on the bed as intended and it's still great. When I say great, I mean it's truly like no other mattress I've had. I have a very expensive "air" mattress that cost about 5 times the price of this that I love, but this one has a totally different feel to it and I've grown very fond of it.All I can tell you is, dollar for dollar you won't find a more comfortable mattress. It's really that good. It not only fits well and supports you well, it stays cool, sheets all fit on it perfect, you can put a mattress pad on it if you want (I did) for some extra comfort and durability but even without one, it's still great as is. The best compliment I can give a product is saying I'd buy another one. Well, after the 30 days were up, that's exactly what I did and I'm very glad about it.

I'm an incredibly light sleeper with fibromyalgia so a good night's sleep on a supportive surface is critical to feeling good.Having now owned both innerspring and costly memory foam mattresses, I can say that inner springs are more durable, though memory foam is more comfortable when it's new.This mattress combines both for great support and the feel of foam. Only time will tell if the foam is durable, but the mattress certainly feels well-made. The top is a little bit softer than I prefer (I like my mattresses quite firm), but it's probably perfect for most sleepers.If you've never had a foam mattress before, be aware it will soften up somewhat as your body heats it and it will be softer on hot nights.The other nice thing about the inner spring/memory foam combo is that this mattress is about half the price of a good all-foam mattress.So I am very happy with this mattress.EDITED 8/18/20: Still loving this mattress and sleeping on it even though a full-sized mattress is small for me and this was only supposed to be for when guests came over. But I like it better than the queen-sized mattress in my bedroom. This one has kept its shape and I'm still sleeping as well on it as mattresses that are twice as expensive.

Having slept on hundreds of mattresses, I have found that durability and comfort can be mutually exclusive – especially in hotel beds. Even home mattresses may tout their longevity – usually in the form of warranties – but to what end if you’re uncomfortable every night for 10 years on a mattress that is technically sound?Happily, the hybrid in the name of this model refers to its expert blend of comfort and support. The densely packed coils offer wrap-around support – there’s no sagging on the ends or edges. Positional support is built into the entire surface area, too, thanks to the memory foam. We didn’t find the moisture protect layer particularly effective in keeping us cool. Despite the season, (we’ve been sleeping on it since July 2018), it is a warm mattress. That subjective reality is outweighed by the even more important subjective reality that the Sealy Hybrid is an extremely comfortable and supportive mattress offering a great night’s sleep.

This is a great mattress, very comfortable. It's twelve inches tall, and I had no problem with my usual fitted sheets. There are inner springs--very important--and a 1.5 inch Sealy foram plus 2 inches of foam pillowtop That's a lot of design on the surface, but I still feel the inner spring design is important for durability and consistency on the top. The construction is excellent quality and it comes with a 10 year warranty. The most important thing--it is very comfortable. The memory foam was softer surface (and warmer) than I'm used to but by the second day I was really enjoying it. .It's made in the US. I often have a hard time sleeping, but this mattress has been helping me sleep through the night (after the first night where I wasn't used to it yet). I go to bed earlier (not usually my pattern), get to sleep easier and stay asleep through the night. This is a real improvement.Also, getting into bed, with the mattress giving way the way it does, and sinking into it--comfortable and warm--just makes bedtime seem cozier, extra comfortable and more inviting to get into bed. Great mattress!.
