Although Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) has a few moments of corniness, generally speaking it's an hilarious, action-filled fantasy/sci-fi with convincing visual effects, whacky characters, and a great script. The cast is surprisingly star-studded with Chris Pratt in the leading role and arguably more well known stars taking back seats. For example, Glenn Close and Benicio Del Toro have minor roles. Nathan Fillion of Serenity-fame merely does the voice-over of a minor player, and Josh Brolin, as Thanos, is uncredited. Speaking of voice-overs, what a pity that only the voice of Vin Diesel, a favourite of mine, was used in this lively escapade. It seems such a waste and it surprised me that he wasn't cast in the role of hunky Drax (one of the good guys) which went to Dave Bautista, a WWE champion. Having said that, 6ft 4in Bautista, didn't disappoint. Quill is one of the few Earthlings in this 'out there' extravaganza, and the variety of aliens runs from a hard-nosed green woman (Zoe Saldana), to blue men (Michael Rooker), to a magical and daunting tree giant called Groot (voice of Vin Diesel) and an irascible raccoon-like invention called Rocket (voice of Bradley Cooper). My favourites in this movie though, and I expect they are the favourites of many, are the nutty duo: Groot and Rocket. They could have a show of their own. Groot can only say 'I Am Groot' which means that Vin Diesel wouldn't have needed to spend hours learning his lines. I wonder how much he got paid? Rocket was a psychiatrist's dream or nightmare, and the funniest of the lot. Talk about complex. Ronan kept reminding me of Tom Hiddleston's Loki, except that Ronan's lugging around a great big (Thor-like) hammer. And, if all that isn't enough, the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack is a treat.So, what's not to like? Guardians of the Galaxy is such fun. I saw it some time ago and decided to buy the BluRay because I have just ordered the Guardians of the Galaxy II, and I wanted to watch the first one first, if you get my meaning. The video and audio of the BluRay are excellent. The movie has such vibrant colours with equally vibrant characters. The soundtrack is superb, especially if you enjoy the early 70s music, and I do, and it fits the tone of the movie perfectly. The character, Peter Quill, who likes to be called Star Lord (Chris Pratt) loves his ancient Sony Walkman and the cassette he plays upon it. He will burst into dance at the strangest of times. Don't we all???The BluRay comes with the usual extra which shows us how the movie was made. I would suggest that anyone new to the movie should watch the extra afterwards as, for me, finding out how special effects are done can spoil a movie for me. Who wants to visualise wires or a blue screen while trying to be mentally transported in the movie's world?If your spirits are low and you need a bit of a lift and your sense of humour remains intact, check it out. Oh, and it's not for young children.

Another entertaining, smart and slickly presented offering in the Marvel canon.A relatively minor group of misfits (as opposed to better-known groups of misfits like the X-Men and Avengers) become the unlikely heroes in preventing a powerful artefact from falling into the hands of a seriously bad inter-galactic warlord; its all very tongue-in-cheek stuff with a wonderfully cheesy 80s pop music sound track and lots of CGI, but it is wildly entertaining. Karen Gillan (of Dr. Who) is unrecognisable as the sadistic Nebula.Well worth checking out, this is a good couple of hours of escapist entertainment.The DVD has no worthwhile extras beyond a deleted scene and some trailers, but there are subtitles and audio description.

This film was quite funny and violent at the same time, the casting of Vin diesel as Groot was weird to say the least, a question remained unanswered at the end of the film though in how does our hero become part alien in the first place? as this isn't revealed unless I missed it, but a great typical Marvel film and a promise of more to come of the Guardians I think the cameo appearances of Stan Lee in Marvel films is hilarious I cannot help but look for him, reminiscent of the Old Alfred Hitchcock films. I will not give the plot away in case it detracts others from watching it, you just have to see it to make up your own mind, but for what its worth it was a great film, the only reason I give it 4 stars is because I would have liked to know about the origins of our Hero before the film got underway in full swing and not leave any questions unanswered.

I usually like Marvel films but avoided Guardians of the Galaxy for a while because the setting and species-pot-pourri crew looked a bit too cheesy.I needn't have worried. It's good Marvel stuff, a bit lighter than some but with a decent story-line and plenty of laughs. The less humanoid characters are a credit to modern(ish) CGI, with very believable presence and expressions.There was on big scene where I found myself feeling no longer immersed in the action thanks to the cartoony over-dramatisation, but that's my only complaint and really a very small one in a really good flick.

This movie was a huge risk for Marvel Studios, it was the first time they took a chance with characters unfamiliar to a lot of people, the 2nd big risk they took was Ant-Man a year later.Now one of my favourite movies, Guardians is just.........fun, lots and lots of fun, plus it's also really cool, it has a talking Racoon who fires a huge rifle for crying out loud, that could have easily been stupid but ended up being one of the best parts of the movie.This movie wasn't just successful, it was a major hit. My younger brother and both parents also thoroughly enjoyed this movie, especially Groot, and trust me, that's a pretty big deal. In a way, it's crazy, some parts a really crazy, this movie isn't a typical Sci-Fi movie, and it is silly in places, but that doesn't matter, it all adds to what I said before.....so much fun.It will be interesting to see where they go next with these characters. We have only until next year (2017) to wait, and we also get the new addition to the Marvel cinematic universe, the new 15 year old Spiderman in Spiderman:Homecoming. Let's go Marvel.Updated: Still is one of Marvel's best, I recently got this on 4K, sadly hit and miss picture, ranging from just a bit better than normal blu-ray to pretty good, so 3.5 out of 5 for that, but still a 4.5 to 5 movie.

Okay, zu lachen gibt es eigentlich grundsätzlich in allen Marvel Filmen was, aber bei Guardians of the Galaxy handelt es sich dann doch um die Komödie unter den Marvel Perlen. Schon Chris Pratts erster Auftritt sorgte für einige Lacher und obwohl ich am Anfang die Befürchtung hatte, dass der Film zu "abgespaced" für mich sein könnte, mauserte er sich doch recht schnell zu meinen Favoriten.Ganz ohne Zweifel tragen die Charaktere den größten Teil dazu bei, die kaum unterschiedlicher sein könnten - sowohl in Charakterzügen als auch Erscheinungsbild. Und wenn dann so eine wild durcheinander gewürfelte Truppe als Team funktionieren muss, bleibt kaum ein Auge trocken. Viel spannender und amüsanter als die Handlung an sich war stets die Frage, was für einen Reißer die Figuren als nächstes bringen. Eindeutig ist dabei Rocket der Spitzenreiter - kaum ist er auf der Bildfläche, muss ich schon lachen. Für mich ist der Kleine definitiv das Zugpferd des Films!Guardians of the Galaxy fällt in meine Marvel Lieblingskategorie: bunt, verrückt, laut, chaotisch und saulustig. Die Settings sind herrlich abgedreht, die Charaktere harmonieren für die Geschichte perfekt, der Soundtrack überrollt einen mit einem Nostalgieflash nach dem anderen und auch die Story gehört im Genre der Comicverfilmungen in die obere Liga. Hier passt einfach alles und ich könnte wetten, dass niemand diesen Film nur einmal ansieht. Absolut top!

Ein herrlich locker erzählte Märchen in bunten Bildern.Auch wenn die ersten Szenen etwas traurig sind, ist der ganze Film lustig mit viel Action .Das Beste ist die Filmmusik, die perfekt dazu passt. Eigentlich lauter Klassiker, zum Teil sogar die weniger bekannten und doch wunderbar. Wir haben uns nur weil uns der Film so gut gefallen hat, auch noch die CD dazu gekauft.Inhaltlich möchte ich über die Zusammenfassung des DVD Covers hinaus hier nicht spoilern. Nur soviel:Die Hauptfigur "Starlord", eigentlich ein Kleinkrimmineller kommt richtig sympathisch rüber und sein Team aus bunten Figuren ist mal eine echte Abwechslung. Vor allem Groot der sprechende Baum.Wir haben den Film zuerst im Kino und dann auf BD mehrfach gesehen und konnten die Erscheinung des zweiten Teils kaum erwarten.Der Film macht einfach gute Laune.

Ich mag Marvel Filme und da es Comic-Verfilmungen sind, stört es mich auch nicht, wenn nicht jedes Teil hunderprozentig nachvollziehbar sind. Die Darsteller sollten in ihrer Rolle überzeugend, die Geschichte dahinter ohne plot-Fehler sein und die Musik muss eine ordentliche Portion Pathos für den richtigen Popkorn-Abend haben. Warum ich ausgerechnet diesen Film absolut gar nicht mag und auch nicht nach dem zweiten "Genuss" hat mehrere Gründe. Angefangen beim Hauptdarsteller Chris Pratt, dessen Humor in meinen Augen unterirdisch war und der mich in der Rolle des einsamen Starlord - einer Bezeichnung, die er sich selbst gegeben hat - einfach nicht überzeugen konnte. Und leider konnte mich auch weder Groot noch der Waschbär oder eine der anderen Charaktere wirklich fesseln. Die Dialoge zwischen dem Starlord und den anderen enden stets mit einem flotten Spruch, der dem einen von uns ein zweistündiges Kinovergnügen bereitet und dem anderen 120 min Langeweile.

Steinigt mich, aber ich als Marvel-Fan wollte diesen Film anfangs gar nicht im Kino sehen... zum Glück wurde ich überredet und heute kann ich mich gar nicht mehr erinnern, was ich gegen diesen Film eigentlich hatte?!Denn "Guardians of the Galaxy" gehört für mich mit Abstand zu den besten Filmen, die das MCU bisher hervorgebracht hat. Der Film glänzt einerseits durch so viel Witz, Humor und fast schon Lächerlichkeit (hab wirklich selten sooo gelacht) und auf der anderen Seite hat er mich sehr berührt, vor allem bei der Anfangsszene! Auch die Charakter sind für mich einzigartig und für mich SO noch nie da gewesen, denn seien wir ehrlich: Sie sind zu anfangs alles andere als Helden, sondern eher die typischen Loser! Auch wenn manche Vergleiche zu den Avengers ziehen mögen, finde ich dennoch, dass sie eindeutig ebenbürtig zu den allseits beliebten Avengers sind. Allen voran natürlich Peter Quill oder besser bekannt als Star-Lord! Was? Wer? Ja, genau Star-Lord... Ein Name, den man womöglich in Zukunft öfters noch zu hören bekommt.Toller Schauspieler by the way und so schnell kanns gehen, fügt sich der nächste Chris (hier: Chris Pratt) nach Chris Evans und Chris Hemsworth in die Riege der Superhelden des MCU ein.Wer alle Marvel Filme bisher verfolgt hat, kann wahrscheinlich bereits die eigentliche Hintergrundgeschichte sehen! Die "Guardians" gliedern sich also perfekt ins Universum ein und geben wieder etwas mehr preis über die sogenannten Infinity Stones, Thanos und anderen Kleinigkeiten, die man liebevoll Easter Eggs nennt, was mein Herz natürlich sofort höher schlagen lässt. Ich sauge ja jedes Detail wie ein Schwamm auf!Eine Sache muss ich noch hervorheben und das ist der geniale Soundtrack und zwar der Awesome Mix Vol 1. Dieser Soundtrack verdient zurecht den Namen "awesome", denn genau das ist er. Es handelt sich hierbei zwar nicht um neue bzw. unbekannte Lieder, aber der Mix macht es aus und passt überraschenderweise perfekt in den Film.Ich kann den Film also jedem ans Herz legen, egal ob man die anderen Marvel Filme nun gesehen hat oder nicht. Es macht sicher trotzdem Spaß einem so buntgemischten und verrückten Team zuzusehen. Das gibt es wahrlich nur einmal und Marvel hats möglich gemacht dies auf die große Leinwand zu bringen.S.

Would be surprised if anyone hasn't seen this by now.When I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy in the theater, I'd never read any of the comics but was familiar with some of the characters. I couldn't imagine how they could during such boring and drab characters into something interesting to watch in motion...However, I was wrong. All the roles were excellently cast, and the entire film had great pacing, the right mix of action, comedy and story. This movie single handedly made Guardians of the Galaxy relevant to a broad audience.

Der erste Guardians of the Galaxy war für mich ein Überraschungserfolg, waren die Helden doch gänzlich unbekannt und bis dahin kein klarer Punkt der Gesamtgeschichte. Besonderes Highlight ist der Soundtrack zum Film und damit auch ein Thema das sich wie ein roter Faden durch die Geschichte zieht.Auch Empfehlenswert wenn man mit den Filmen von Marvel sonst eher weniger anfangen kann. Der Film ist humorvoll, hat Romantik, Action und Weltraumpiraten. Die Schauspieler, auch die der Außerirdischen überzeugen, sind eine gute Auswahl der Stimmen und bringen die Situationskomik gut rüber. Die Verbindung der Szenen mit Musik ist gut gelungen und kann damit schon vor Baby Driver überzeugen, dass solche Filme Spaß machen können und trotzdem als Sci-Fi Action funktionieren.Eine Empfehlung für Fans der Marvel Filme oder Cineasten die auf humorvolle Sci-Fi Filme stehen.

Given the hype, this was a surprisingly-poor story!Poor character development.Poor, tired excuse for what was happening.[SPOILER ALERT] Once again, a powerful despot was trying to take control of a world. Along the way, he was blindly destroying a lot of things plus killing. Yet, this kept reminding me of Star Wars, The Avengers, plus numerous other flicks which, essentially, had the same plot.Similar to the movie "John Wick" (Keanu Reeves), too, the producers, of "Guardians of the Galaxy", were using violence to make up for their lack of originality and content - which, for a long (LONG) time, made the whole thing seem BORING!VERY BORING!Literally, I was counting down the minutes!Incidentally, I was not the only one, in my family, who thought the show was, at least, half an hour too long!Hard to see how this FLAT, DULL, but violent, show led to a sequel!Character development plus plot counts, folks!

Quel film!Effets spéciaux géniaux, mais surtout quel humour! Les gags s'enchaînent et le scénario tient la route. Les personnages sont tous intéressants, mention spéciale pour le végétalissime Grooooot! ( il n'y a pas de faute aux noms propres 😉)Nous avons rit du début à la fin, en ayant vu quelques extraits je pensais que j'allais m'endormir et en fait c'est le contraire qui s'est produit.Et pour une fois mon jeune fils ma femme et moi avons vraiment pu apprécier un film drôle ensemble. 😁Je recommande grandement.

A mio avviso uno dei film Marvel meglio riusciti. Il giusto connubio tra azione, umorismo ed effetti visivi. Personaggi fantastici con un cast azzeccatissimo. Un gran bel cinecomics fantascientifico in poche parole. Purtroppo non sono riuscito a trovare la versione steelbook per cui mi accontento del classico cofanetto che comunque contiene le stesse caratteristiche di impostazioni e contenuti speciali.

I remember seeing the trailer for this movie when we went to see something else at the theater and both my husband and I rolled our eyes and agreed it looked like a completely ridiculous premise for a movie... a talking racoon? Puh-leeze. Fast forward to when it became available from our satellite provider and we decided to watch it just for the heck of it. Not only did we thoroughly enjoy it, but it's become one of our favorite movies ever! GotG is fun, hilarious, and has a story to boot! Who woulda thought? We had to own it so we could watch it any time we wanted... I've lost track of how many times I've seen it at this point in time... and recommend it to friends who haven't seen it yet.

Hierbei handelt es sich im Grunde um ein sehr gut gemachten Film über eine Zweckgemeinschaft, die sich zu einer echten Freundschaft entwickelt. Dies wird sehr gut mit einer ordentlichen Portion Action und jeder Menge Humor begleitet.Ich war anfangs erst skeptisch und hatte ihn mir dann glücklicherweise doch im Kino angesehen. Aus meiner Sicht absolut sehenswert. Habe ihn mir in Vorbereitung auf Endgame nochmal im Originalton angesehen, da kommt Chris Pratt sogar noch besser rüber.

Da amante del genere devo dire che questo titolo non deve mancare sul vostro scaffale.Tecnicamente secondo me è stato realizzato in maniera ineccepibile.Chi può inoltre usufruire del 3D, come il sottoscritto, devo dire che è davvero notevole, ci sono diverse scene che vi lasceranno senza fiato.

This movie was fun, as is almost every film made in the Marvel department.Still, it seems to me like Disney keeps the same formula again and again and makes a "clean" movie instead of trying new things. This may be a new territory for the comic book movie adaptations, but I sometimes miss the days when you had to wait years to get a few of these and you had to take it for what it was, no matter how good or bad they were.Don't get me wrong, this is one great cast, has superb special effects, great comic pieces, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, etc. It has (almost) everything I could wish in a blockbuster.It's just getting tiring to get the same thing over and over.Here's an easy analogy: everybody likes a little bit of McD's once in a while. It's perfectly fine. But it's like every restaurant started to turn into fast food joints... and almost every time you ate, you had to chose between McD or Burger King.Let's just hope the craziness dies down a bit and more options are offered instead of a formulaic-based product.

Come sempre amazon è sempre il rivenditore per acquistare in maniera "massiva" collezioni di bluray di tutti i tipi. Nel mio caso, questo vale anche per gli appassionati di cinecomics Marvel! Ho acquistato tutti i bluray della Fase 1 ad un prezzo scontato rispetto ai rivenditori fisici! Consiglio vivamente!

Ansich mag ich Marvel nicht so, aber dieser Fim hat es geschafft mich zu fesseln.Schöne Geschichte, gute Darsteller und gute Orte und Effekte.Sehr Sympathische Charaktere die auch glaubhaft rüberkommen.Keine übertriebenen "ich rette allein die Erde Helden", wobei es auch weniger um die Erde geht.Lohnt sich mehrmals anzuschauen.Von mir klare Empfehlung.
