Perfect shape for cats and dogs
My husband is a dentist and the scalers we have at home are too sharp and not the right angle for doggie teeth. These are perfect for flecking off plaque from my dogs’ teeth. Now if only there was a better way to sneak up on them...

sturdy slanted descaling tip is good design for canine teeth
I am working on taking better care of my dogs teeth. I would like to use it on my cats, but there is no way they will let me in their mouth. My dogs on the other hands (two big yellow labs) are much more used to mommy poking around their ears, feet, mouth.. so adding in a tarter removal tool hasn't been too bad. Start slow! I have to use it when they are sleepy and really don't care what I am doing. I only do a couple of teeth then simply stop (for them, and myself). I figure if I go after a tooth or two a day most days, then I am much further along than if I tried to do all at once. I just keep a basket of dog care tools next to couch we curl up on, and as we lounge in the evening this is when I clip nails, brush teeth, implement this tarter removal tool, wash ears, check them over. This has been a good addition. This tarter removal tool is sturdy and easy to grasp. I really don't have anything to compare it to having never used one on my dogs, but I can tell it seems like a quality tool. I like that the ends (descaling tips) are not pointy. They are angled and are pretty easy to scrape against teeth. It is still early on since receiving this and using it, and again I only use it a little at a time. I need to get used to it as do my dogs. But so far, so good!

Mine won't let me use
Out gets off a little plaque/tartar WHEN I can get one of my dogs to cooperate. I think they are just bad with me! I'm going to have a friend with a lot of dog handling experience try. I really can't afford regular vet teeth cleaning (one sick dog has been going to the vet once a week since March). 3 of the 4 dogs need a cleaning, too.

works, has protective cover
REVIEWING: Mind up Kenko-care Pick&pick Double Header Tarter Remover for dogsI use scalers on my dog’s teeth in-between professional cleaning by a vet. As Kenko-care mentions in the product description, this scaler is not for extremely heavy plaque and tarter. For that they have another scaler. My dogs are used to having me scale their teeth. They get treats during and after which helps convince them that though scaling their teeth is a weird thing to happen to them, that afterwards there is fun and goodies so they might as well put up with it.Scaling can dislodge bacteria so I not only sterilize the tool before using it; I also use an oral disinfectant on their gums during and after the cleaning. The tool comes with protective covers for the points for storing, which I appreciate. This tool is nicely beveled, is lightweight and with practice becomes a valuable part of the protocol of keeping dog’s teeth and gums healthy.

Removed the gunk from both dogs and my cat's teeth!
It was actually really easy to scrape some of the gunk off my pets' teeth with this. First, I sterilized it. Then, I slowly introduced it to them. I I let them lick a little toothpaste, just off the tip of my finger because all three of them love the taste of the toothpaste (the brand is C.E.T). Then, I put some toothpaste on this tool and gently rubbed a little of it on their teeth. Then, I started using this tool without toothpaste on it. This was all in the matter of a few minutes. My dogs didn't mind it very much. They usually freak out about things. It wasn't too bad getting their back teeth either. For my cat, getting the back teeth was hard just because his mouth is so small. The tool is a bit big for cats. I did scrape some of the gunk off his front teeth.I should mention, I brush my pets' teeth once a week so they are used to me touching their mouth. It took about a year to get the dogs on board with brushing. As for my cat, he was pretty young when I started brushing his teeth and went along with it because the dogs did.For reference, I have a Lab Retriever (62 pounds), Beagle Mix (40 pounds) and Short Haired Cat (13 pounds).

Great tool....now if I could just convince him to let me near his back teeth!
Great tool. I'm relieved that the ends aren't that super pointy thin hook like the one the dentist uses on me.Still working on getting my pooch to let me near his back teeth with thus. But I was successful in scraping off some tarter on his big canines so I consider that a success.Gonna take some patience on both of our part before I can use this where, & as much as I want on him but I found that tiring him out with a good game of fetch prior, made him more tolerant bc he just didn't have it in him to fuss very much.Very pleased with quality and capability. It's also easy/comfortable to hold.I hope my humble opinion helps you in some way.Thank you for reading.

Very easy to use
I got this for my daughter who has an older dog and has a lot of tartar build up. She hasn't been able to take her in for a cleaning so we wanted to give these a try. The design is very simple to use and isn't too "sharp" but is perfectly angled to be able to scrape against the tooth and loosen the tarter buildup. It's very easy to use. Highly recommend this tool for any dog owner!
